Motorola Xoom Gets Overclocked To 1.6GHz

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on May 18th, 2011

Overclocking is the computer geek equivalent to souping up a Hot-Rod. Both go fast, but in different ways. A few months back we heard that the new Motorola Xoom Android Honeycomb tablet had been overclocked to 1.5GHz, and now someone has broke that threshold, with a speed of 1.6GHz.

The guys over at the XDA are the ones who did it. They have managed to get the Xoom’s processor up to 1.6GHz and guess what. That extra clock speed helped the Xoom score over 4000 in the Quadrant benchmark app, compared to around 1500 in the Xoom with its standard clock speed. Yeah. Not a bad boost at all.

Eole concept watch with turbine bezel lets you blow for the time

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on May 16th, 2011

Is your own watch feeling a bit too practical? Not silly enough? Well, if that’s the case, check out the Eole watch concept from designer Julien Moise. This watch is powered by blown air, displaying the time only when you want to see it, thereby saving battery power.

It’s easy to say that this watch blows, but the truth is it’s a neat concept to conserve battery life. Even so, you will look pretty damn silly blowing for the time. The only thing that could make it worse would be if it made a kazoo type noise with each blow. There’s also a weather indicator and alarm function.

It may also have to do with much lower than expected sales and they are hoping to make sales jump in the next several weeks. The device should be upgradeable to Android 3.1.

Ubisoft talks about the Wii 2′s power

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on May 12th, 2011

Well we already suspected as much, but Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot mentioned that his teams will be able to use a lot of the work done on titles for the current HD consoles when developing for Nintendo’s new platform. Guillemot says, “So we will not have to redo completely the games that we create. We’ll be able to use all the capacity the console is giving but also use all the work we do for the other platforms.”

Good news for them and it’s not a surprise, but it does confirm that Nintendo’s next console will be as powerful or more powerful than the current generation of HD consoles. Yes, it should be a great console. Then again these are the same people who released the Wii with only 480p, so who knows.

Very Convincing Fake Nintendo DS Lite Purchased On eBay

Posted in Nintendo DS by Reuben Drake on May 12th, 2011

That DS Lite above looks pretty genuine right? That’s what the buyer thought too when he purchased it on eBay. When he opened the package he knew something was wrong. The corrugated cardboard box was the first suspicious giveaway. Then on the back of the box there was pixelated English text.

When he opened the package he found that yes it was a fake, however, it still played DS and GBA games in their proper slots. The surface of the system has some small pockmarks, which is not up to Nintendo’s high quality assurance standards and the inner bezel is also discolored.
