Is the iPod nano 7 getting it’s camera back?

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on April 3rd, 2011

A new image may point to the iPod nano’s seventh generation regaining a camera. The part shows what looks like the current iPod, but with a cutout area that looks designed to fit a camera lens on the back.

If this is anywhere near the final product, it looks like Apple has found a way to include a camera in the touchscreen iPod nano redesign. You might remember that the last tall iPod nano actually had a video camera, but it was dropped in the new version, probably because of size and battery life problems. We don’t know if it will include still photography.

Rampant View makes your 5th gen iPod nano a head cam

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on September 26th, 2010

The current iPod nano may be better suited as a watch, but Rampant Gear isn’t done with the 5th generation iPod nano just yet. The company has just introduced its new Rampant View harness/headband which will turn your nano into a head cam.

Obviously it isn’t the best head-mounted camera option, but it is cheap at $35. You probably already have the 5th gen nano, so you might as well pony up the dough and capture some cool video.

iPod nano gets smaller and lighter, $149 for 8GB or $179 for 16GB

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2010

Apple just revealed the 6th generation iPod nano, with a radical new redesign. The clickwheel is gone, replaced with a touchscreen interface and a shuffle-like square form factor. It’s 46 percent smaller and 42 percent lighter. Like I said, radical.

There are volume buttons on the side and a clip on the back as well as that multitouch touchscreen. You can expect 24 hours of audio playback. Seven color options will be available, including a Product RED option, with prices set at $149 for 8GB or $179 for 16GB.

iPod nano without Click Wheel is coming

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on August 26th, 2010

Looks like the September 1st event by Apple might add a new iPod nano that could do away with the traditional Click Wheel design. It sure looks that way judging by some new cases. It’s a radical departure from previous generations of the iPod nano.

The missing Click Wheel makes it all smaller. We won’t know for sure until the event, but this one is looking confirmed.

Industrial Double iPod Dock

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on March 18th, 2010

This has got to be one of the ugliest iPod docks we’ve ever seen. Obviously it’s made from some rusty old electrical industrial parts. The product page says it will make a great engagement or wedding present. But that’s only true if you’re a redneck.

But hey, it does support two Apple devices instead of one. It’s compatible with any generation of the iPod or iPhone and even the Nano. Do you want one?

Let’s face it, standard clock technology is not enough to get you out of bed. What we need is bed shaker technology. If sound alone can’t wake you up, maybe you should check out this brand new iPhone/iPod alarm clock that will wake you up with vibrations. iLuv’s iMM178 Vibe Plus.

It’s like being in a seedy hotel, with one of those shaking beds that you have to put quarters in, but you won’t need any quarters thanks to a small device attached to the Vibe Plus that iLuv calls a bed-shaker. Just put that shaker under your pillow, set the alarm to activate up to 10 days in advance or on a weekly schedule, and you are good to go.

Apple iPod Touch has hidden faster N Wi-Fi and space for possible cameraThe same folks at ifixit.com who tore down the newly released iPod nano from last week also got their hands on Apple’s newest version of the iPod touch and carefully broke it down as well. In doing this they found some interesting surprises.

In dismantling the iPod touch, they found a faster 802.11n Broadcom wireless chip, still inactive but bringing wireless-N in addition to the a,b and G in the touch. Chances are that some OS update, hopefully in the not too distant future, will enable this faster wireless connection.
