Apple confirms glitch with Verizon iPad 2

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 10th, 2011

Remember when iPhone owners complained about AT&T’s network and could not wait for the day they could use their Apple devices on Verizon’s network? It wasn’t so long ago. Well, we have iDevices on Verizon now and guess what? It isn’t all it was cracked up to be. The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Verizon iPad 2 users are having reboot problems. Apple calls the number of users with problems “small”, but they have acknowledged the problem after message boards went crazy this week with customers complaining they are having difficultly accessing Verizion Wireless’s 3G data network.

Verizon 3G iPad 2 owners report reboot problem

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 8th, 2011

Looks like Verizon-based Apple gadgets have a recurring reboot problem. Owners of Verizon’s native iPad 2 with both Wi-Fi and 3G (in 16, 32 and 64GB memory configurations) are complaining that they have to reboot their devices if they want to connect to 3G after previously switching that feature off.

Wi-Fi works just fine apparently, but 3G connections can take several minutes or just never happen. It doesn’t seem like all Verizon iPad 2 users are having this problem, but the complaints from those who are affected are very similar. It just goes to show that Verizon has it’s own set of problems with iDevices, much like At&t

Motorola XOOM and ATRIX 4G sales are ‘disappointing’

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on April 5th, 2011

We didn’t need an analyst to clue us in on poor sales of Motorola’s key products, but that is exactly what we have today. Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette revised his full-year 2011 revenue estimates down from $13.7 billion to $12.25 billion. He also revised his 2012 revenue estimates down from $15.34 billion to $13.62 billion. Ouch!

He says that overall sell-through trends for the Xoom and Atrix have been disappointing and he believes the Atrix’s lower-than-forecast sales are a result of the $49 iPhone 3GS and the HTC Inspire, which makes perfect sense. What is Motorola going to do now? Hopefully they price their products better to start.

WiFi-only Dell Streak 7 coming soon?

Posted in Wi-Fi by Conner Flynn on March 18th, 2011

If you were waiting for Dell to release a WiFi-only version of the Dell Streak 7, it looks like you are in luck. The guys over at StreakSmart have discovered a WiFi-only mobile device from Dell that received WiFi certification from the WiFi Alliance.

The device is model number M02M002, which syncs up with the 3G + WiFi Dell Streak 7′s model number M02M. Since the device has been certified to be single-mode WiFi-only, this can only be a WiFi-only version of the Dell Streak 7. Dell had never officially announced that they were going to launch one, so this is a nice surprise. The device was even spotted on Amazon up for pre-order at $379.99, though we don’t have any ship dates.

Ubisoft Survey hints at NGP pricing

Posted in PSP by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2011

Sony hasn’t offered any pricing yet on the upcoming NGP portable gaming console, but we do know that it won’t be cheap. There will be two versions, one with 3G and the other with WiFi only. A new survey is being circulated by a research firm called Toluna, which is sponsored by Ubisoft and was called Ubisoft – NGP concept – EU Adults.

The survey asked if buyers would buy the NGP portable and then listed prices for the 3G and for the WiFi only versions. We have no idea if the prices listed are accurate or not. According to the survey the 3G NGP would retail for $350 and the WiFi only would be $250.
