Dell XCD28 and XCD35 Android phones for India

Windows Phone 7 isn’t for everyone. Maybe Android is your flavor. If you live in India, Dell has just introduced a pair of new Android phones designed specifically to be sold without a carrier subsidy. The XCD28 sports a 2.8-inch display, a 3.2 megapixel cam, 200MB of internal storage expandable with up to 16GB via microSD, and an FM radio; it sells for the equivalent of $247 without a contract.

The $382 XCD35 has a 3.5-inch capacitive display. Both devices have 3G support for India’s high-speed networks, WiFi, Bluetooth.

Windows Phone 7 USB Tethering discovered on Samsung devices

One of the major drawbacks of many Windows Phone 7 devices is that the operating system doesn’t offer USB tethering. However, if you own a Samsung Focus or Omnia 7, some hacks have surfaced that allow the devices to be used as a 3G modem.

Reports suggest that you’ll need to dial ##634# to get into the diagnostics menu, switch over to “Modem, Tethered Call” mode and go through a few more prompts. Then you should be able to tether your device via USB.

Sprint ZTE Peel turns your iPod Touch into a phone

Ever want to turn your iPod Touch into a Pseudo iPhone? Sprint has the answer. And it’s expensive. The ZTE Peel is an iPod touch case with a built-in 3G hotspot. It costs $80, but only supports two devices at a time, and 1GB of data costs $30 per month.

For comparison, Sprint’s OverDrive with 4G service costs $50, and for $60 a month you get 5GB of data over 3G and unlimited 4G data. The other problem is that this also makes your skinny iPod touch fatter.

Elecom introduces its first Bluetooth 3.0 Laser Mouse

The M-BT6BL Series is Elecom’s new Bluetooth 3.0 Laser mouse. We suppose it’s about as exciting as a regular old mouse can get.

If you like your mice compact, this one is only 74.3×52.3×33.4mm and weighs just 43g without batteries (2x AAA Batteries). The mouse comes with an 800/1600 DPI resolution and will be available starting next month in Japan for about $52.

Sony launches new VAIO Y notebook in Japan

Sony has decided to change the display size of its VAIO Y notebooks over in Japan. And they aren’t making them bigger. The company’s new VPCYA19FJ/B model sports an 11.6-inch display instead of the original 13.3-incher, though it still offers 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

The downsized notebook will hit Japan on November 27th for an unknown price. Some specs include: A 1.33GHz Intel Core i3-380UM processor, 320GB hard drive, 2GB to 8GB of memory, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet and an HDMI port.

Sony’s Reader Daily Edition now on sale with Wi-Fi and 3G

Hot on the heels of Hanvon introducing a new color E-Reader, Sony is announcing that you can now purchase another monochrome version. Lucky you.

The Sony Reader Daily Edition is now on sale in-stores and online. The Reader Daily Edition has both Wi-Fi and 3G, and like the new Reader Pocket Edition and Reader Touch Edition, it also has a touch panel. The 7″ screen will give access to Sony’s Reader Store via Wi-Fi or 3G, and you can also do some basic Web browsing via Wi-Fi.

LG L-03C is a true camera phone

We’ve had cameras in our phones forever now. We typically call them camera phones. Really they are phones with a camera inside. The phone is the priority, hence the crappy pictures that camera phones take. Well, LG has unveiled a new device that is a true camera phone. The device not only has a 12.1MP image sensor, but it also looks more like a camera than a phone.

It also features an ISO range of up to 3200 and has a Pentax 1:3.6-5.5 lens with 3x optical zoom. The LG L-03C can also record 720p HD video and has GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G. If you want a decent camera with a phone, this would be it.

DoCoMo Sharp SH-07C e-Book Reader

The Sharp SH-07C e-Book reader is now available in Japan via DoCoMo’s network. The device weighs in at 240 grams and the 3G e-Book reader features a 5.5-inch color LCD with a 1024×600 resolution.

Some other features include 32GB of internal storage space and support for the new XMDF eBook format. Sadly, we don;t have any info on pricing or availability yet. When we hear something, we’ll let you know.

Hanvon wants to take E Ink to a new level by adding some color

Thanks to E-ink we can enjoy a near ‘book-like’ experience on an electronic medium that also saves on battery life. E Ink technology is evolving like anything else and now Hanvon is getting ready to announce a product that will feature a color E Ink device. This device will be the first with this new type of display. Don’t get your hopes up for videos though. It’ll be more like a first gen color display that can run animations but no video.

The device will come with a large 9.638-inch touchscreen display and be available with Wi-Fi and 3G. It’s due to hit shelves sometime in March of next year and would be priced at around $440.

Tonino Lamborghini Spyder Series Luxury Phones

Here’s the latest addition to the ultra luxurious mobile handset market, the Tonino Lamborghini Spyder handset. The range is priced at $1781 to $2813 because they come with a 316L-grade stainless steel casing and a 2.2-inch (240 x 320 pixels) sapphire crystal scratch resistant LCD display.

Despite all of that, a 3MP camera with VGA video recording is the best they could do. It isn’t even 3G enabled but they are hand made and hand polished. A few models in the Spyder range are the S-670, S-680 and S-685 which are the higher end models with rose gold, gold and black/gold PVD finishes. The S-600 comes with DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) while the S-610 and S-620 have simple black PVD finishes.

Mineral Technology offers 7-inch U91 UMPCs powered by Atom N270

Mineral Technology has just announced that they will be launching a new range of UMPCs that feature 7-inch displays. Shared specifications include WVGA resolution two-point multitouch displays, an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS navigation, optional 3G, dual cameras, an SD memory card slot, VGA and Ethernet ports as well as trackpads.

They will come in black, green, white, and red. Prices start at $460 and go up to $540, depending on the configuration. They run off the Windows platform,.

Entourage launches Pocket eDGe dual-touchscreen tablet

Entourage has launched its Pocket eDGE dual touchscreen tablet, which incorporates a monochrome 6-inch Wacom Penabled E ink panel on the left and a 7-inch color resistive touchscreen display on the right. It’s running Android 1.6 as well as Embedded Linux and the trackball on the right has now been replaced by an optical touchpad.

The Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g enabled device includes 3GB of on-board storage, a 2-megapixel camera capable of capturing video, a USB port, and a microSD slot. It comes pre-loaded with apps including a web browser, Documents to Go, email, journal, music player, notepad, camera, camcorder, audio recorder, calculator, calendar, contacts, dictionary, file explorer, You Tube, and a reader app.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Android Tablet now available for pre-order in the UK

The ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Android tablet is now available for pre-order in the UK in Misco’s online store. The tablet will cost you 399.99 GBP (or about $638). The ViewPad 7 features a 7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen display, along with a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor.

Some other features include 512MB of RAM, 512MB of flash memory, a full-sized SIM card slot, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), a 3-megapixel camera, a front-facing VGA camera for video calling, G-sensor, A-GPS, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and Android 2.2 Froyo runs the show.

EKING S700 e-notepad

Why would you want an Apple iPad when you can have the EKING S700? It’s the “first e-notepad in the world”. The S700 is aimed at those who work outside of their regular office environment and need to take notes.

The device features resistance touch control and electromagnetic induction touch control, along with 3G connectivity. You get a 7-inch display and Wi-Fi as well. Even a 3-megapixel automatic focus camera. Yeah, I think I’ll go with the iPad just the same, thanks.

Barnes & Noble Nook Color announced

Barnes & Noble just announced its all-new Nook Color, an Android tablet with a 7-inch color touchscreen. B&N is calling it a hybrid of e-reader and tablet, and it even sports a full-on tablet-style UI, along with Facebook and Twitter integration.

Other features include built-in WiFi (802.11b/g/n) and 8GB of storage, but no 3G. The price is $249. For that price you get a decent screen thanks to the “VividView,” 16 million color, 1024 x 600 IPS display. Not sure how we feel about that corner handle though.
