Nintendo really hit the mark with the Wii. Now all they have to do is sit back and laugh at every lame attempt by others to capitalize on their motion controller. Take this thing for instance. 3DiJoy has unveiled its FlingPC motion controller that is basically an accelerometer-equipped Bluetooth remote and a USB dongle.

For your $99 you’ll get ten custom (and rest assured crappy) 3D games. Just look at the image above. Asian babies love Wii knock-offs. They are a cheap gateway to the overpriced highs they’ll get from higher quality game systems once they reach puberty. This thing is compatible with both Linux and Windows platforms, but somehow we don’t see a large market outside of the Asian baby demo.

Here at the ‘Brick we love retro game consoles almost as much as we love shiny gadgets. Combine vintage game consoles with papercraft and it’s geek overload. If we could, we would make sweet love to these awesome looking paper consoles, but alas, even with protection, it’s sure to lead to sensitive paper cuts that we dare not speak of. So we’ll settle for just admiring these babies from afar. Until we have time to make some that is.

Now you can enjoy 3D imaging right on your desk with this interesting holographic display ‘Holocube 3D Projection Box’. It sports an integrated HDD that stores video and uses it to create 3D Holograms at a resolution of 1080i. It won’t produce a Princess in trouble, telling you that you are her only hope. Nor will it let you talk to your Sith lord or Sith apprentice in real time.

But it is pretty awesome. It’s available in 10-inch, 15-inch, or 17-inch models, with a 40GB hard drive. The Holocube can store up to 18-hours of compressed video at 4Mb/s on its 40GB hard drive, which can then be converted into a 3D hologram. You also get an optional floor stand for easy transportation.

We would all like to have our own robot. And hey, it’s a bonus if that robot doubles as a cool CNC router. We’ll here’s your opportunity to build your own six legged robot with an attached CNC router for a head. I think this solves the mystery of that huge face on Mars. Somewhere out there, some alien is controlling a gigantic robo-router for their own amusement. The awesome thing is that you can build your own version. The site is selling kits with everything you need. Soon you too can make detailed human heads of your very own.

Tectoy has announced the Zeebo, a 3G network-based gaming console that will launch in Brazil in July of 2009, then show up in other markets after a few months. Apparently the idea is that the console forever connected to a 3G network. That conection won’t cost the gamer anything, with all the games and content paid for and downloaded through the network.

Action Hero 3D, Evil Prey, and Quake will come preloaded on the console. Yeah, not some of my first choices either, but they aren’t dead set on competing with the Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 obviously. They’re trying to appeal to those who can not afford expensive consoles and games, despite a crazy $599 price tag itself. Games will cost between $10 and $30. Fail.

Best Buy isn’t content to let Target get away with unique gift cards this holiday season. That’s why their gift cards for the holidays will double as speakers with a 3.5mm hookup. This way you can rock out while contemplating what to buy with your card.

Is it gimmicky? Sure. Will suckers fall for it? Enough will bite to make them happy they thought of it. And if it takes batteries like Target’s new gift card/camera, they might really make out great. The question is, how muc does it cost them to produce these cards? Bottom line, even though it’s gimmicky, it beats a wool shirt from grandma. Check out a cheesy video below.

We only have to look at a newspaper or watch the news to know that the economy in America is hurting. With the build up to the holiday season here that means that many wish lists this holiday season will remain wishes with consumers not being able to spend like they have in previous years.

A new study from Research and Markets claims that a full 24.1% of respondents do not plan to purchase consumer electronics items this holiday season. With consumer electronics one of the perennial top choices on wish lists that is an impressive number of shoppers not buying. Two years ago 19.4% of consumers didn’t plan to buy consumer electronic items.

Mgestyk Technologies wants to bring gesture control to your home PC. They want to do it by using just a 3D camera and proprietary software. The Mgestyk gesture control system is can capture small hand movements and then translate them into commands. The commands can be applied to nearly all windows applications, but more importantly video games. It looks like it works pretty nice, but it looks like there’s some lag. It’s also a bit dorky looking shooting a gun. Pricing is expected to be around $150. No details on availability just yet, but you can sign up on their mailing list to get updates.

You might remember this virtual nerd girlfriend from several months back. The Dennou AR Figures virtual 3D girlfriends are for those extra lonely nerds who don’t get out much. I think the idea is that you would want to check in on her now and then, apply spankings as needed and occasionally give her gifts, all safe in the knowledge that she can’t run or call the cops.

You install webcam software and when your camera detects the special cube onscreen, it puts a 3D companion into your environment. It’s available right now in Japan for $125. And we don’t want to know what you two do in your spare time. A slightly NSFW video below

Have you ever wished you had a real-life replicator that can actually create 3D objects from nothing? Like the Star Trek Replicator? It’s here. Actually 3D printers have been around for awhile, but are just now getting small enough to fit onto your desk. The Objet Alaris 30 is a compact desktop 3D printer that uses a peripheral with PolyJet Photopolymer Jetting. This helps it produce 600 x 600 dpi objects up to 11.5 x 7.7 x 5.9 inches in size.

That’s an improvement over the 5-inch cube that they did last year. The printer can manufacture small moving elements as thin as 0.0011 inches. According to Objet, the Alaris 30 Desktop 3D Printer will give you 36 hours of unattended printing from your 3D CAD files. No word on pricing or availability.

Jedi can bowl a perfect game every time by using the force, no balls are necessary. But since you haven’t apprenticed under Yoda, you could use some help. These Brunswick Star Wars Viz-a-Ball bowling balls may be just what you need to give your game a boost while simultaneously getting laughed at by those around you.

Web cams have just gone all view-master on us. The Minoru looks like a super-cute Japanese robot and is designed to deliver the Internet experience in 3D. The stereo webcam uses two lenses to form one image that appears three-dimensional…when the viewer wears a pair of 3D glasses. When are we gonna get beyond these nerd glasses?

It’s compatible with chat services like Skype, AIM, and Windows Live Messenger. Apparently the device can take 3D photos and output 3D video that’s uploadable to YouTube too. He’s part E.T., part Wall-E and he’ll be on sale in December for $100.

Behold. This new 9,000-square-foot, 3-story spaceship is called “Second Solar” and it has just been constructed in the German city of Böblingen. It’s a real looker. Smartphones are a relatively small percentage of all mobile phones on the market today. Despite the small percentage of smartphones, the devices are still where many manufacturers throw their coolest tech and hardest marketing push. T-Mobile has announced a smartphone that many have been waiting for.

The T-Mobile G1 is the first smartphone to be announced running the Google Android operating system. Android is open source and allows for lots of customization. The G1 offers 3G broadband and EDGE network connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS and more. A slide out QWERTY keyboard complements the touch screen.
