This guy made this video to prove that he is better then you at Guitar Hero 3 using drumsticks. He has an advantage that you don’t. A custom midi controller designed to play as if you were drumming. He also obviously kicks ass playing the drums.

He’s obviously crazy. I’m pretty sure he’s animal from the Muppets, all shaved down and incognito. Amazing yes. Also amazingly nerdy. What else can you say?

Tectoy’s Zeebo gaming console

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on November 12th, 2008

Tectoy’s Zeebo gaming consoleTectoy has announced the Zeebo, a 3G network-based gaming console that will launch in Brazil in July of 2009, then show up in other markets after a few months. Apparently the idea is that the console forever connected to a 3G network. That conection won’t cost the gamer anything, with all the games and content paid for and downloaded through the network.

Action Hero 3D, Evil Prey, and Quake will come preloaded on the console. Yeah, not some of my first choices either, but they aren’t dead set on competing with the Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 obviously. They’re trying to appeal to those who can not afford expensive consoles and games, despite a crazy $599 price tag itself. Games will cost between $10 and $30. Fail.

Trackball mod puts some retro on your Wiimote

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on November 12th, 2008

Trackball mod puts some retro on your WiimoteThe modders over at Acid Mods can’t help but defile all of their Wiimotes. Despite the fact that that sounds just plain wrong, the results are pretty cool. The rapid fire switch was cool and brought back memories of the Turbo Advance.

Now they’ve modded a trackball into a Wiimote, which also functions as D-pad and A button. This is pretty useful as it puts both under your thumb at the same time and should make web browsing interesting. Soon there will be an order page and instructions for adding the trackball to other controllers, like a PSP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and PS3. Now we just have to get Missile Command and Centipede on the Wii and we’ll be set.

Mirrors EdgeLast weekend I downloaded the Mirror’s Edge demo for my PS3 and spent a bit of time playing. The game is very cool and fun. You are a free runner that moves atop the buildings in a massive city delivering messages.

To get from one place to the other you have to run, jump, and fight your way there across rooftops. The game has a very cool premise and offers very original gameplay. EA announced this week that it has shipped Mirror’s Edge to retailers worldwide.

Tom Clancy EndWarI like Tom Clancy, his books are fun to read, movies based on his books are usually good, and I have had lots of fun with games based on his works. Clancy has a new video game coming out with Ubisoft that adds some new and cool features that we haven’t seen on console games.

The new game is called EndWar and Ubisoft says the title has a new and unique control method for the squad-based gameplay. EndWar will be offered on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 consoles. The title is set on the battlefield of a future World War 3.

BioShock PS3When BioShock first hit store shelves for the PC and Xbox 360 it proved to be one of the most popular games around. The PC version of the game had its share of early bugs, but the game overall was great. It offers fun play and a very original storyline.

2K Games has announced that BioShock for the PS3 is now available to purchase. The PS3 version may be late to the game, but 2K promises some exclusive PS3 content to make up for it. One of the exclusives are challenge rooms that will be available for download at a later date.

September games sales show 7 percent drop

Posted in Games, News by Darrin Olson on October 17th, 2008

September game console sales show 7 percent decline, Nintendo still on top, Xbox has increased salesSeptember games sales actually showed the first decline since March of 2006 according to the NPD Group, however things are still not looking too tough for the gaming industry. September of 2007 saw a huge hike in sales due to the release of Halo 3 which is contrasted by slightly lower sales this last September of 2008.

The drop is sales was not the only change of events for September, either. Due to the price cut of the Xbox 360 models, Microsoft saw a significantly noticeable boost in sales for its console from 195k units sold in August, to 347k units sold in September of this year, bringing it ahead of Sony’s PS3. Microsoft dropped the price to $50 less than the Wii and half of what the PS3 costs, making it the least expensive current-generation game console on the market.
