Samsung launches the handset formerly known as the smiley

Posted in Samsung by Shane McGlaun on June 24th, 2010

I have a thing about names. I won’t call a grown man by a nickname. I think if you were meant to be called BL@m0, that’s what your mom would have named you. I blame Prince for the debacle with the new Samsung messaging phone that has no name, only a symbol.

That symbol is the smiley emoticon. You know the one. The phones official name is the Samsung :) . Yes, I am serious that’s what some dumbass at Samsung actually called the phone. If you buy this low-end device, what are you supposed to say when someone asks the inevitable, hey what phone is that question?

First USB 3.0 hub from Buffalo

Posted in USB 3.0 by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2010

This USB hub may not look like much, but it’s got it where it counts kid. In speed. The first actual USB 3.0 hardware is finally starting to trickle out. Now we have some USB 3.0 hard drives, flash drives and before long a USB 3.0 compliant humping dog.

So that stuff all requires a hub to bring it all together. Like the Buffalo BSH4A03U3, with data transfer speeds approaching 5Gbps. It will move your virtual bits about ten times faster than the old USB 2.0.

Sure that’s a lot of dough, but this thing looks like a futuristic city all by itself. More importantly it looks different than everything your friends have. It’s nice to be unique. Expensive, but nice.

Hyundai Genesis dissected in time lapse videoNormally if you want to see what it looks like to dissect a car piece by piece, you have to get out the tools and sacrifice your own ride, throwing parts all over the yard. Thanks to Hyundai, you won’t have to do any work at all.

Just watch the video below of a Genesis completely disassembled. I love how the above image looks like parts from a model kit that you might buy in a box. Don’t try this at home. You’ll have parts leftover when you rebuild it.

Well, thanks to some scientists at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Porton Down, Wilts. who originally developed the technology, gadgets may soon be getting something called an Ion-Mask coating to provide waterproofing to all sorts of devices. The Ion-Mask was a military technology originally designed to protect soldiers clothing from chemical attacks but soon could be used to protect mobile phones and media players from moisture, rain and the occasional drop in the drink.
