Asus EeePC T91MT netbook turns up on video

asus_eee_pc_t91The Asus Eee T91MT turned up a while back and its best feature is certainly the multi touch capability it offers. The machine is a netbook that uses a convertible tablet form factor and has a capacitive touch screen.

The netbook has an 8.9-inch screen and runs an Intel Atom Z520 CPU. It also has 1GB of RAM and stores data to a 32GB SSD. The machine runs Windows 7 Home Premium and is available for pre-order at a price of $549.

sabertoothssd-sbIf you purchased a netbook from Asus a while back that used an SSD, you may have the thing packed with files now and be out of storage space. If so you are in luck; a company called Active Media Products has unveiled a line of upgrade SSDs that offer more performance and more storage.

The new line of SSDs is called the SaberTooth S4 series and they are compatible with the Asus S101, 900, 900A, 901, and 1000 Eee netbooks. They will also work with other machines that use mini PCIe card storage with the SATA-II interface.

There are also sports where just getting film of someone crashing or doing something stupid is fun to watch. Whatever the case may be, Tachyon has unveiled new and very small camcorder that it claims to be the world’s smallest helmet cam.

The camera is called the XC Micro and it measures 3.8 x 1.4 x 1.8 and weighs 3.7 ounces. It can be attached to goggles, helmets, dashboards and other locations for filming. Power is from a pair of AAA batteries and lasts for four hours of shooting.

The drive features 255MB/sec sequential read rates and 180MB/sec sequential write rates and supports MIL-STD-810F standards so that it can hold up in extreme temperatures and to shock and vibration.

The tough and rugged 256GB SSD drive will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2010 along with encrypted versions. The PureSilicon 256GB SSD Drive is also available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities.

While searching for a replacement hard drive for his old school iRiver H300, Andrew decided to go with an SSD drive for more reliability. He couldn’t find the proper SSD drive to replace the H300s so instead he looked for a broken hard drive player to combine with an SSD drive.

So he found a broken Zune 120 and a refurbished SanDisk EIDE/PATA SSD drive and married them. Total cost was $130. If you want to do this yourself, Andrew has some instructions for you.

That’s basically what the Car Cam Voyager does. It acts like a black box. It’s the first video camera for the car that allows you to record what is happening in real time while you’re driving. The device can display captured video on the 2-inch 320×240 screen and can record up to 48 hours of video on the road to a 32GB microSD card.

There has been all sorts of anticipation built up around the Motorola event held on the 10th where the company debuted its new Android smartphones. Among the new phones was the Motorola Cliq with Motoblur.

The handset is powered by Android and will be a T-Mobile exclusive when it hits the U.S. this fall. The handset has a QWERTY keyboard that slides out and a full touch screen display as well. Motorola designed the phone for tight integration with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail, and other email sources. Motoblur provides access to these features without needing to open or close any applications.

Archos Android Tablet price and detailsArchos’s 4.8-inch A5 series has already passed the FCC, and now we have price and capacity info on the device which will launch on September 15th. The A5 will come in two flash and two hard drive capacities, featuring a 16/32GB SSD or a 160/500GB HDD.

It will cost you $294 for the 16GB version, $370 for the 32GB, $320 for the 160GB and $420 for the 500GB version. Rumor is that the A5 will have 720p video output, but like the Zune HD, you’ll need to buy a dock. The dock for the A5 with DVR functionality is $130.

Tainell T500 MID with Intel Atom CPUChinese gadget maker Tainell has launched a brand spanking new Atom-powered MID dubbed the Tainell T500. The Windows XP-powered device sports a 5-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen display with a 1.1GHz Intel Atom Z510 processor.

Some other interesting features include: 1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G WWAN connectivity and an HDMI port. How about a 32GB SSD and a VGA webcam? Unfortunately we don’t have any info on pricing just yet. Anyway, we don’t expect to see this one outside of China anytime soon.

tachyonxc-sbI am a fan of motorsports like drag racing and motocross. One of the coolest types of video on YouTube and other sites are the sort shot from inside the cockpit or on the helmet of people during their favorite motorsport.

A company called Tachyon has announced the 2010 model of its XC camcorder will be shipping in mid-September. The camera is designed to be shockproof, offer a wide field of view, and superior light gathering capability for good images.
