New Olympus cameras let you preview shot effects

Olympus Stylus 1020Olympus this week unveiled a trio of new Stylus compact digital cameras which it says offer dual image stabilization, 2.7-inch LCDs and a feature called “Perfect Shot Preview.” These models are the Stylus 840, Stylus 1010 and Stylus 1020 and pricing will range between about $250 and $350.

Perfect Shot Preview, as described by Olympus, “enables users to preview and select various photographic effects on a live, multi-window screen before snapping the shot.” The Stylus 1010 and 1020 will both offer 10-megapixels of shooting ability, with the Stylus 840 chiming in at 8-megapixels.

Expect all three Stylus digital cameras in stores by March. You can get the full details after the jump.

Sony gets colorful with W-series Cyber-shots

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170Among other cameras Sony released this week it was showing off a new line of colorful W-series Cyber-shots for the consumer crowd. The W-series will price between about $200 and $300.

Models of the W-series will include the 10.1-megapixel DSC-W170 and 8.1-megapixel DSC-W150, both with Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lenses, and the 8.1-megapixel DSC-W130 models and 7.2-megapixel DSC-W120 units with 4x optical zoom and 2.5 inch LCD screens.

Colors on these models will range from pink to blue to gold and red. Availability is slated for between now and April, again depending upon the model. Check out the full Sony press release after the jump for all the details.

Sharp AQUOS X series makes world’s thinnest LCD TVsIt looks like Sharp just took the lead in the race for the world’s thinnest production LCD television. The AQUOS X series TVs come is 37, 42 and 46-inch models and are an incredibly super-thin 34.4mm (1.35 inches). Part of Sharp’s ability to keep these LCDs so Svelte is attributed to the fact that the tuner and the I/O connections are in a separate box and not inside the actual TV. It’s then connected through a single cable to the television.

Samsung 10-megapixel camera does HD video

Samsung NV24 HDSamsung was showing off at CES this week a new 10-megapixel digital camera with HD video recording capability. It’s a point and shoot model called the NV24 HD and Samsung is pricing it at around $350 with a March release date.

The Samsung NV24 HD is a fully loaded camera. It can record 720p HD video at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. It measures a fairly compact 3.8 x 2.4 x 0.7-inches. It makes uses of a 24mm Schneider lens and 3.6x optical zoom.

Norcent rolls out 42-inch LCD television

Norcent LT-4231POne thing about CES: manufacturers big and small all bring their new products to show off. One such smaller product developer is Norcent and it’s unveiling a number of things, including a 42-inch LCD-TV. The Norcent LT-4231P is set to price at around $1,300.

The Norcent LT-4231P offers through its 42-inch screen 1920 x 1080 resolution. It offers built-in built-in ATSC (over-the-air content), NTSC, and Clear-QAM (unencrypted digital channels) tuners. HDMI input is also provided as well as support on down the video line to composite.

Canon HG10 AVCHD Hard Disk Drive Camcorder

Canon HG10 AVCHD Hard Disk Drive CamcorderCanon is looking to capture the attention of those wanting to record high definition footage on camcorders. It announced today the October release of the Canon HG10 AVCHD Hard Disk Drive Camcorder.

The HG10, priced at around $1,300, will let you capture up to 15 hours of HD footage. Its compact body houses a 10x video lens, 2.7-inch LCD display and HDMI port for connecting to a HDTV. You also get useful features like optical image stabilization, instant auto focus, 3.1-megapixel photos captured to a miniSD card and a quick start.

Sony BRAVIA High Definition TelevisionsSony has been busy with product announcements this week. The latest announcement from Sony is a new line of seven BRAVIA high-definition televisions.

The BRAVIA televisions come in two series – the 1080p V-series and the 720p S-series. The V-series units include 40- and 46-inch (pictured) screen sizes, while the S-series offers 26-, 32-, 40-, 46-inch models.
