Acer reveals Aspire 5755 multimedia laptop

Acer’s latest laptop, the Aspire 5755, is for multimedia lovers who are on the go. It features Intel Core chips (with the i7-2820QM available in the premium configurations), and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics with Nvidia’s Optimus tech.

Other features include 8GB of DDR3 memory, as much as 1TB of storage, and a 15.6 inch Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1366×768. There’s also built Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) tech and an HDMI-output option.

HP x2301 Ultra-thin LCD Monitor

We are used to our monitors being pretty thin these days, but not this thin. HP has introduced an ultra-thin LCD monitor that measures just 9.8mm thick. It weighs 7.7Lbs and the HP x2301 features a 1980×1080 (1080p) resolution with a 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a 3ms GtG response time, and BrightView technology.

The x2301 is also mercury- and arsenic-free with Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Silver certifications. That means it is also great for the environment. This LCD display can also display 72% of the color gamut. Other features include DVI, HDMI and VGA ports. The HP x2301 is available on June 10, 2011 for $279.99.

Fujitsu has a new family member in its Esprimo FH all-in-one PC series. The Fujitsu FH56/DD features a 20-inch LCD display, a built-in TV tuner and built-in Onkyo speakers. In short it should deliver an amazing multimedia experience.

Other features include Intel Core i5-2520M processors (2.50-3.20GHz), 4GB DDR3 memory, 2TB of storage, a Blu-ray burner, Intel HD Graphics 3000, a 1.3MP webcam, a media card reader, LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 OS.

Panasonic pricing and ship dates for 2011 LCD TV models

Panasonic has issued a press release with pricing and availability for its 2011 LCD HDTVs. The 37- and 32-inch DT30 (shown above) will ship in April for $1,299 and $1,199 and they will include the newly upgraded Viera Connect with Hulu Plus, 3D features and more.

The E3 and X30 series will feature just the basics: Netflix, Amazon VOD, Napster, Pandora, Facebook and CinemaNow. We know from the image above that they excel at displaying butterflies.

Best Buy throws in free PS3 with TVs

Looks like now is a good time to buy a new TV if you also need a PS3. Best Buy has just announced some post-holiday deals that are valid until December 11. In the Sony PS3 bundle deals there are several discounts when a Sony TV is paired with a PS3, including a 46-inch LED-lit LCD with a 160GB PlayStation 3 for $1,300, which saves you $1,380. Not bad right?

A 3D-ready 46-inch LED TV with a PS3 will cost you $1,700, a savings of about $1,180. How about a 55-inch 3D-ready LED HDTV and the same PS3 for $2,200?

Toshiba unveils Camileo SX900 super zoom HD camcorder

Toshiba has announced that it will release the Toshiba Camileo SX900 camcorder in July 2010. This super zoom camcorder supports Full HD 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. The Camileo SX900 also features an HDMI port, so you can connect it to your HDTV to enjoy your favorite videos huge.

Some other features include a 2.7-inch fold out LCD display, 9x optical zoom and supports the SDXC memory card format. That’s not all. The Toshiba Camileo SX900 can also capture still images with its 14-megapixel CMOS sensor.

Sceptre unveils chrome HDTV that looks really cool

Sceptre has been making computer displays and other gear for a while now. The company has TVs in colors that you don’t often see from other makers. The latest offering from Sceptre is a 24-inch HDTV that is covered in shiny chrome.

The set has a 24-inch screen and supports full 1080p resolution. The screen can be used with a PC too supporting resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. Contrast is 4000:1 and the screen has a brightness rating of 300 cd/m2 and a panel response time of 2ms.

Marvel Comics licenses line of Superhero-branded LCD/LED HDTVs

Marvel has partnered with RTC23 to release “the ultimate comic fan’s TV”. C’mon, you know you’ve been waiting for a TV branded with Superhero images. The 22, 32, 42 and 55-inch LCDs/40 and 46-inch LED HDTVs feature Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Wolverine, Thor and other characters on the bottom corners of the frame as well as on a themed splash screen that appears for 8 seconds when you turn on the TV.

Even if you love Marvel Comics, it’s bound to get old staring at the same images though. The smaller LCD sets start out at 720p with a 60Hz refresh rate, 8000:1 dynamic and 3000:1 native contrast with 1 HDMI output and top out at 1080p with 240Hz refresh, 80,000:1 dynamic and 4000:1 native contrast, and 4 HDMI inputs. Prices range from $339 to $1989.

Samsung debuts 3000:1 contrast ratio LCDs

I confess that I am not a big fan of the dynamic contrast ratios that many manufacturers quote for LCD TVs and monitors today. The whole thing is merely an attempt to get consumers to think a billion to one contrast ratio is better than the next guys 1000:1 ratio.

Samsung has unveiled a new set of LCDs including the F2370H and the F2380MX that both claim the world’s highest contrast ratio with a firm 3000:1. Samsung does say that the screens have a 150,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for those of you who prefer the big numbers.

myGoTv with AMOLED surfaces

I can see the appeal of watching TV wherever you are. I have been bored more than once while waiting for an appointment or riding in a car and wished I had something to do. A company called IDTV has announced a new portable TV at CES that would do the trick.

The device is the MyGoTV and it has a 3.4-inch AMOLED screen that promises better viewing that LCD screens of similar size. The screen claims to be 1.5 times brighter than the average LCD. The little TV sells for $169 and has an AC and DC power adapter.

Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ 11.6" NotebookAcer has announced the Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ notebook which sports an 11.6″ screen with an HD resolution and is LED backlit. This one has a full sized keyboard and delivers up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge.

This notebook is just one of several announced by Acer, but this model is the thinnest and lightest, weighing just 3.08 pounds. This notebook will launch on October 22 with Windows 7 installed for $599.

JVC unveils new PICSIO GC-FM1 camcorder

jvcpicso-sgJVC announced a new camcorder today that we have heard about before called the Picsio GC-FM1. The camcorder is aimed directly at the folks who like an easy to use camcorder that can upload directly to YouTube and other video sharing sites online.

The camera can record full 1080p HD video resolution with 4x digital zoom. The cam can also snap 8MP still shots and comes in three colors including black ice, blue steel, and purple passion. The back of the camera is a geometric pattern that looks like the shiny side of those metallic stickers.

Gateway intros One ZX series multitouch all-in-one desktopsLooks like Gateway is getting in on the multitouch action like everyone else. Why not? Windows 7 makes it easy. The company has unveiled the One ZX lineup, which will consist of the ZX6800 series and ZX4800 series. Both will ship with Windows 7.

Some specs: The higher end ZX6810-01 will include a 23-inch multitouch LCD (1,920 x 1,080), 2.33GHz Core 2 Quad Q8200S CPU, 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4670 GPU, 8GB of DDR3 memory, an 8x slot-loading DVD burner, a 1TB HDD (or 64GB SSD), WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, six USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA socket, bundled wireless keyboard and mouse, integrated HD webcam, hybrid TV tuner and built-in speakers.

Toshiba unveils first Cell-powered Regza LCD TVToshiba has another first on their hands with the 55-inch Cell Regza 55X1, the first LCD HDTV to be equipped with a Cell chip. The 55X1 offers a peak luminance of 1250 cd/m2, LED backlighting, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 240Hz scanning, and Super Resolution technology which makes use of Cell power for greater image quality.

Some other features include a 7-speaker sound bar, DLNA support, an internet browser from Opera Software, HDMI and USB, and an SD card slot. You also get a ‘tuner box’ with 3TB of storage space, 2TB of that will be devoted to the “time-shift machine” feature, which can simultaneously record up to 26 hours of programming on up to eight channels.
