Acer reveals Aspire 5755 multimedia laptop |
Acer’s latest laptop, the Aspire 5755, is for multimedia lovers who are on the go. It features Intel Core chips (with the i7-2820QM available in the premium configurations), and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics with Nvidia’s Optimus tech.
Other features include 8GB of DDR3 memory, as much as 1TB of storage, and a 15.6 inch Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1366×768. There’s also built Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) tech and an HDMI-output option.










Sceptre has been making computer displays and other gear for a while now. The company has TVs in colors that you don’t often see from other makers. The latest offering from Sceptre is a 24-inch HDTV that is covered in shiny chrome.
I confess that I am not a big fan of the dynamic contrast ratios that many manufacturers quote for LCD TVs and monitors today. The whole thing is merely an attempt to get consumers to think a billion to one contrast ratio is better than the next guys 1000:1 ratio.

Toshiba has another first on their hands with the 55-inch Cell Regza 55X1, the first LCD HDTV to be equipped with a Cell chip. The 55X1 offers a peak luminance of 1250 cd/m2, LED backlighting, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 240Hz scanning, and Super Resolution technology which makes use of Cell power for greater image quality.
