Fujifilm is another company showing off this week some new digital cameras. One of these, for those prosumers out there, is the SLR-like Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd. It is priced at around $400.

The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd offers up a 10-megapixel experience and is outfitted with a “Fujinon 18x Wide Angle Optical Zoom fixed lens, which offers a 27mm-486mm equivalent.” It is a sealed, fixed lens system to keep out dust as well as perhaps helping to cut price. Major features include enhanced face detection technology, dual image stabilization and a 2.5-inch wide LCD display.

Canon is introducing this week a new entry level digital SLR to its popular line of EOS Rebel digital cameras. It is called the Canon EOS Rebel XSi and pricing is set at around $800 for a body only kit and $900 for a lens kit which includes the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens.

The Rebel Xsi is a 12.2-megapixel shooter which Canon has dressed up with “an improved autofocus sensor, enhanced 14-bit A/D conversion, an advanced Live View function, and the proprietary DIGIC III image processor.” Canon has also newly designed this camera’s CMOS sensor.

Sony unveiled a number of new digital cameras for the consumer market this week. One of these is a compact, high megapixel shooter called the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300. It is priced at around $400.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300, available in three body colors this March, sports a 10.1-megapixel ability. Almost more interesting than that though is the 3.5-inch, 16:9 widescreen touch display on the backside and also new “intelligent” scene recognition technology which Sony says “allows the camera to analyze shooting conditions and automatically select the optimal settings for the best photo results.”

Here’s a third-party handheld Nintendo emulator that doesn’t look like total garbage. Though it has the typical generic name of Solar MP4, this little device actually has some impressive features. It can play MP4 videos up to 320×240 in size on its 3.5 inch TFT screen, it also has built-in emulators for NES, GameBoy and GameBoy Color games. Of course you have to use ROMS loaded via an SD card, but those are easy enough to find. It can even function as an e-Book reader with the ability to read out loud any text file as long as it’s written in English or Chinese.

And of course, it has a DS-like design with solar panels, so you can play games using the power of the sun. Not bad for a knock off. You can get one for $123.32.

We’ve seen some pretty handy adapters to connect your internal drives, externally to your computer with things like the Stage Rack and this USB to SATA adapter but none of them match the convenience of the USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter from NewerTech. This adapter not only connects SATA drives to your computer’s USB port, but it will handle ATA/IDE drives as well.

Anytime I upgrade computers or just upgrade my drive I always keep the old one because inevitably a day will come where I want something off of it that I thought I would never need again. Opening up the computer case is a real pain and adapters like this are well worth the money in the time it saves alone. The adapter works with all 2.5″ laptop drives, 3.5″ desktop drives and will connect any existing 5.25″ drives such as CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs or removable Iomega Zip drives.

Take a look at this card reader from USBFever that says it will handel up to 62 different types of memory cards and connections. I’m not sure what those 62 types are and the product page doesn’t even list them but you can feel pretty confident that it will take just about whatever you got. We do see support for CF, SD/MMC, MemoryStick and xD at the least.

Aside from being just a card reader, the gadget also works as a hub for a single connection for each of USB, Fireware, SATA, e-SATA, headphones and a microphone. All of this is conveniently built into a box that fits in your internal 3.5″ drive bay on your computer so you don’t have to have yet another device taking up space on your desk and another USB port.

Sony seems to have found enough success with its mylo Internet device to have unleashed at CES this week a new generation of the product. The updated Sony mylo goes on sale this month for around $300.

The Sony COM-2 mylo communicator, as it is being called, comes in black or white body colors and has a backlit, slide out QWERTY keyboard. Like its predecessor it lets you connect to open wireless hotspots to instant message with your buddies. You can also use it to view Web videos, take pictures and post them directly to a variety of sites, use widgets to do various online functions, play games and enjoy various media formats.

It used to be that to get portable stereo sound you had to use headphones, but Orbitsound has come up with something new in the T3 device, with air sound technology. It’s slightly larger than a BlackBerry and is best when worn around the neck. It sounds as if you are wearing a pair of headphones. It’s compatible with any iPod, MP3 players, CD players or notebooks as long as they support line-in jacks.

If you want to have some private listening, there is a 3.5mm headphone port on the T3 to suit your needs. This kind of portable stereo sound is made possible thanks to Orbitsound’s airSOUND single-point-stereo technology.

Australia based BlueAnt recently unveiled a new wireless Bluetooth speaker this week at CES in Las Vegas, bringing a quality Bluetooth speaker product that’s completely wireless for a $199 price tag. The price point on the BlueAnt M1 might be a little higher than other wireless speakers for your portable devices, but BlueAnt’s goal is to “…fill lack of good quality portable stereo speakers in a market that is saturated with cheap, terrible sounding boom boxes.”, according to BlueAnt CEO Taisen Maddern.

The BlueAnt M1 features an output of 28 watts RMS, rechargeable batteries that will run the device for around 10 hours at a medium volume level, and is compatible with any Bluetooth A2DP device including computers, PDA’s and mobile phones. In the event that you want to use the speakers with your non-Bluetooth media player it also sports a 3.5mm jack to connect directly.

Buffalo has recently added the LinkStation Pro Duo as one of the latest to their lineup of NAS products, targeting small or home businesses in need of an affordable and stable solution for large capacity data storage.

The Pro Duo currently comes in a 1TB configuration with the option of either RAID 0 or RAID 1 redundant 3.5″ SATA drives. It connects to your network via 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet as an Active Directory client and also has Buffalo’s Web Access technology allowing you to access data stored on the drive remotely from anywhere via the web. It even has included software that lets you start it up remotely.

While most Bluetooth headsets we’ve seen lately are concerned with being discrete and then coming up with elaborate technology to focus on only noise from your moth, Joby is coming out with a new model that helps state the obvious when you are on a call. The new Zivio Bluetooth headset is being showcased by Joby at this year’s CES in Las Vegas this week, and features a long antenna like “boom” with a microphone at the end.

The headset is still relatively small at 13 grams and a length of 53.5mm, but with the microphone extended it more than doubles the overall length bringing it up to 137mm. The headset will continue to work with the microphone boom retracted, but when you receive a call and extend the telephone operator-like mic, it will improve your voice clarity and help drown out other background noise, not to mention leave those around you in no doubt that you are taking a call.

A USB microscope is only one of the cool new science gadgets that Celestron is showcasing at this years CES 2008 conference. The company is also going to be showing off this LCD Digital Microscope (LDM) that’s targeted for everyday science enthusiasts and features a built-in, high-resolution 3.5″ LCD screen to view your various microscopic items.

The LDM has multiple magnification levels including 4x, 10x, and 40x, and a 4x digital zoom giving it the ability to view things up to 1600 times their actual size. With this microscope, squinting through an eyepiece to share with others is just not necessary due to that handy color LCD screen.

At some point you should probably upgrade that ratty old home media room recliner you have to something a little more sleek, modern and comfortable. Salamander Designs is showcasing one such new piece of furniture at CES – the Olivia.

The Olivia, which did not have pricing information available, can be customized in a variety of ways, according to its maker. It sports a seating surface measuring 23.5 inches wide and needs just three inches of clearance behind it to recline. It features both a standard manual recline mechanism, and a powered mechanism controlled by a switch in the arm. A hidden footrest automatically extends as the seat reclines.

Bikes have been jealous of cars for years now, with their fancy turn signals, steering wheels and mirrors. And bikes came first, adding insult to injury. Sure you can put a turn signal on a bike these days, mount a rear-view mirror, even put a Baseball card in the spokes, but it just hasn’t upped the cool factor on bikes. Enter the Cerevellum Rearview Monitor.

All parents should have this little gadget, It keeps your booze where it belongs and safe from the throats of greedy drinkers. If you want a drink, you are going to have to crack the three digit code.(How hard can that be?, thinks the salivating alcohol thief.) Hopefully no one breaks the neck of the bottle trying to get this thing off.
