Flashlight uses no batteries, recharges in 90 seconds

Posted in Flashlights by Conner Flynn on November 9th, 2008

Flashlight uses no batteries, recharges in 90 secondsChances are you’ve reached for your flashlight in an emergency, only to find that the batteries have died. LED flashlights aren’t much better, as they take hours to get a full charge. The Light For Life UC3.400 flashlight from 5.11 Tactical could end all of your flashlight woes for good. It doesn’t use batteries, instead it uses an ultracapacitor to hold it’s charge, which gives you about 90 minutes of light per charge. It produces 270 peak lumens in bright mode, 90 lumens in standard mode, and has a 270-lumen tactical strobe.

That’s pretty impressive, but it gets better. The ultracapacitor will go from dead to fully charged in just 90 seconds. Yes 90 seconds. For at least 50,000 times. Assuming you used a full charge every day, it’s good for 135 years. You’ll never need another flashlight. Ever.

BlueAnt M1 Bluetooth speakersAustralia based BlueAnt recently unveiled a new wireless Bluetooth speaker this week at CES in Las Vegas, bringing a quality Bluetooth speaker product that’s completely wireless for a $199 price tag. The price point on the BlueAnt M1 might be a little higher than other wireless speakers for your portable devices, but BlueAnt’s goal is to “…fill lack of good quality portable stereo speakers in a market that is saturated with cheap, terrible sounding boom boxes.”, according to BlueAnt CEO Taisen Maddern.

The BlueAnt M1 features an output of 28 watts RMS, rechargeable batteries that will run the device for around 10 hours at a medium volume level, and is compatible with any Bluetooth A2DP device including computers, PDA’s and mobile phones. In the event that you want to use the speakers with your non-Bluetooth media player it also sports a 3.5mm jack to connect directly.

The Dual-Fuel cocktail shaker

This has got to be one of the neatest cocktail shakers ever made. I must for barmen and booze hounds alike. The body is a cocktail shaker with a lift-off nose and the wings are actually slide-off flasks that can hold 3.4 oz of liquid each. The shaker holds 27 oz. The beautiful design makes it look like it’s going to take off down the bar, but you know that if this thing ever takes flight, you’ve clearly had enough.

It’s made from nickel-plated stainless steel and brass and measures 12-1/2″ wide x 12″ deep x 4-1/2″ tall. You’ll be flying high in no time and more importantly you’ll be inebriated in style.
