The LT2 Mickey Mouse phone is for beautiful little fairy princesses who have wished upon a star for their parents to search for Chinese knockoffs on the internet. At least it looks kinda nice. It has the whole Mickey theme happening, 2.0-inch 262k TFT touch screen, 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD slot, FM radio and all the other basic functions, even a currency convertor for when your folks buy more junk, a to-do list, world clock, unit converter, health test, and calculator. I have never brought a TV based on how thin it was in profile. Once the set is on my entertainment center, how thick it is really doesn’t matter. I am more about the image quality and screen size. I could see a really thin TV being appealing if it was going to be wall mounted though.

Sony has announced a pair of new 1080p Bravia TVs at CEDIA that will suit those looking for thin and those looking for the best image quality. The Sony KLV-40ZX1M is one of the thinnest sets this side of an OLED screen at only 9.9mm thick. Sony says that is about the thickness of a DVD case. The TV is also very light for a 40-inch TV at only 26 pounds.

This has been quite a week for introduction of new digital cameras. This week Canon announced its new DSLR camera called the EOS 50D. A plethora of other cameras was also introduced by various manufacturers.

Today, Sony pulled the wraps off its own new digital camera called the Cyber-shot DSC-T500. The camera stores images to the Sony proprietary Memory Stick — one of the lines biggest drawbacks if you ask me. The camera has a 10-megapixel sensor and can record video as well.

Sony took the wraps today off an expanded line up of its nav-u personal navigation devices. These new models – the NV-U94T, NV-U84, NV-U74T and NV-U44 – price around $400, $350, $300 and $250 respectively and will be available in September.

Sony says new features of these four just added nav-u GPS units include more brand icons, search functionality and photo viewing features. The top dog of this group is the NV-U94T, adding “a photo viewer, audio/video player and stereo Bluetooth technology for streaming audio and making hands-free phone calls using compatible devices.” You can get full details on these models after the jump.

Teens and tweens don’t normally want to use the same gadgets and electronics that their parents do. The younger crowd wants bright and colorful gear that is easy to use. More and more companies are starting to target this group of younger users with products specifically designed to grab their attention.

Canon announced several new cameras today and one of the new cameras is the PowerShot E1. Canon says that it designed the E1 specifically for the teen and tween age group. The E1 is available in blue, white, and pink colors and has a rounded design.

Over the last week some specifications and information has been popping up around the web about the Canon 50D DSLR camera. The images were met with welcome by some and as expected when things are leaked early — some called the camera a hoax.

Canon officially announced its EOS 50D DSLR camera today. The camera features a 15.1-megapixel sensor, and a host of other items to make using a DSLR easier for new users. The camera uses Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor and has an expanded ISO range of ISO 100 to ISO 12800. Several dust reduction features are included.

Atari and Nintendo seem to get all the glory when it comes to case mods, but there are those out there with a love of Colecovision as well. Probably those who love to play the Smurf game. This mini ColecoVision does everything the original console did, it’s just smaller. A full 50 square inches smaller and 1 pound lighter to be exact.

In addition to shrinkage, the modder also gave it some upgrades. Like composite, S-Video and RCA audio jacks. It also boasts an “intro skip” button that will let you skip past those annoying loading screens on Coleco games. The console includes a refurbished ColecoVision hand controller, a Donkey Kong game cartridge, a power supply, and a six foot, gold-plated, A/V cable. If you can’t live without this thing, you till have 9 hours. It’s currently bid up to $374.99.

Gateway has been busy introducing several affordable gaming notebooks over the last year so. Typically, when you think about a gaming notebook, you’re talking about spending thousands of dollars to get the privilege of playing games on a notebook. Gateways FX series of gaming notebooks have been able to deliver the bulk of the performance of high-end and very expensive gaming notebooks — from the likes of Alienware in Dell — at a much cheaper price.

Gateway has announced its latest value priced FX edition notebook called the P-7811FX. This notebook is the first Gateway gaming notebook to feature the new Intel Centrino 2 processor technology. In addition to gaming, Gateway says this notebook is also great for entertainment as well as editing digital photos and video.

The Nokia 3610 Fold is an interesting handset just announced that features dual screens. The clamshell design features ergonomics that Nokia is calling “understated elegance.” Outside you’ll find a 1.3 megapixel camera with 6x digital zoom, along with the external display.

Inside you’ve got a 2-inch, 262K color screen and the Nokia phone softkeys. It also supports up to 4GB microSD cards. It gets released officially in the third quarter of this year at $186. While I wouldn’t call it sexy, it does have a certain charm. It’s aimed squarely at those who just want basic features without a bunch of bells and whistles.

Nextar recently unveiled a new GPS navigation system which also includes a back-up camera so you don’t squish yours or someone else’s kids. It is called the Nextar I4-BC and you’ll find it pricing around $260.

The Nextar I4-BC consists of a touchscreen GPS unit sporting a 4.3-inch display and a wireless-enabled camera which attaches near the rear license frame. When in backup, the camera flips on and takes over the navigation unit’s screen, showing what is in your path that you might potentially run over.

Nikon’s got a number of new cameras it announced this week. One which has some really nice design cues and tech features is the Nikon Coolpix S60, priced at around $350.

The Nikon Coolpix S60 is a 10-megapixel shooter in a compact body form. It sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen LED for controls and digital image display. The touchscreen, in fact, handles all controls, according to Nikon, except for power and shutter release. One example of this is the ability “to lock the autofocus and exposure on a subject by simply touching the corresponding location on the LCD screen.”

There are media servers and then THERE ARE MEDIA SERVERS. Like the new Vidabox Rack24, for example. 22TB (!) of storage for all your home media needs at a yet as undisclosed price. This, as far as we can tell, does one up on the 15TB Intest NAS device.

What would you do with 22TB of media storage? I have no idea myself. The Vidabox Rack24 though can pack it in, including over 3,350 DVDs or a reported 880 Blu-ray movies. 24 hard drive bays provide the space necessary for this massive amount of storage and the Rack24 can come preloaded and pre-configured with Microsoft’s Vista Home Premium software when configured as a hybrid server/AV stream provider.

Samsung has been kicking out new TVs and monitors left and right recently. Yesterday Samsung introduced a new high-end line of Series 9 LED HDTVs. In addition to new TVs Samsung is also announced new monitors as well.

Samsung has introduced a new series of HDTV monitors for its “touch of color” line that are aimed at desktop use with both computers and entertainment components like DVD players. The line includes the T220HD, T240HD, and the T260HD. The three monitors share some of the same features including 10000:1 dynamic contrast ratios, dual HDMI inputs, and built-in ATSC/QAM tuners.

ViewSonic earlier this week unveiled a new wide format monitor which it is targeting towards those who enjoy media on their PCs. It is called the ViewSonic VA2626wm and pricing is said to be around $530.

The ViewSonic VA2626wm is a 26-inch display which offers 1080p HD support and multiple inputs, including HDMI, VGA and DVI with HDCP compatibility. It also has integrated into the body 2.5-inch dual stereo speakers with SRS WOW HD technology.

JVC lately joined the ranks of those offering the “world’s thinnest” LCD televisions for this or that reason. These new models are the LT-42SL89 and JVC LT-46SL89, priced at around $1,900 and $2,400, respectively.

These new JVC LCDs are being marketed as the “world’s thinnest LCD TVs with built-in tuners,” featuring cabinets which measure 1.5-inches deep across most of it. Maximum depth is said to be 2.9-inches at the panel’s center. Screen sizes include 42- and 46-inches.
