Buffalo has released a new external 2.5 HDD It’s available in Ruby Red, Crystal Black, and Pearl White. The Buffalo HD-PEU2-RD 2.5 Inch external hard disk drive comes with a capacity ranging from 250GB to 500GB.

It was specially designed for women with its sleek design and colors, though presumably a man can use it too without being laughed at and branded a sissy. The Buffalo HD-PEU2-RD external HDD is compatible with both PC and Mac. It’s just like all the others, but in a nicer body.

The Netbook arena is jam packed, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for one more manufacturer. In this case, OEM hardware maker OCZ. They’ve launched their first netbook, the OCZ Neutrino. The OCZ Neutrino will come with a 10 inch LED backlit LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, 2GB memory, and the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor.

The basic model comes with a 250GB hard drive, but you have the option to have a 250GB SSD at for additional cost, built in WiFi, Ethernet, a 1.3MP web camera and a 4-in-1 card reader.

Having music in each room of your house is a great feature for music fans and fans of home automation. Many of the music servers that offer multi-room audio allow you to listen to different tracks and sources in each room.

CasaTools has announced its latest multi-room music server called the CasaTunes XL music Server. The system allows you to play music from multiple sources like your PC, iTunes, iPhone, AM/FM tuner and more. Each room can listen to their own songs and different sources.

Iomega kicked out a couple of new portable hard drives last month, one of which being the rugged 250GB eGo BlackBelt that we’re taking a look at today. The most stand-out feature we found in the BlackBelt was its Drop Guard Xtreme, allowing the portable drive to take a hit to the pavement from as much as 7 feet in the air and keep on ticking.

This ability to take a long drop is largely due to the black rubber “belt” that envelopes the drive (mostly the corners) protecting it from all angles of impact. The rubber belt is not adhered to the drive so it can be removed if you would like, and your left with a smooth, flat-black flask-shaped chasis that’s maybe a little to big for a pants pocket but will easily fit into the pocket of a jacket.

I am surprised that days after CES 2009 ended Acer is announcing new notebooks. Perhaps the computer firm feared that launching a couple machines that lack any really compelling features during the show would have meant they went unnoticed.

The two new machines are the TravelMate 6593 and the TravelMate 6493. Both of the notebooks can be used with the new Acer ezDock II or II+ for easy docking in the office or at home. Both machines share the same 1280 x 800 resolution as well.

We didn’t see this one coming. Although we had hoped for something like it, after seeing the Apple Tribook. The new IBM ThinkPad W700 may only have one integrated secondary display, but it’s a foldable, 10.6 inch secondary display, with 768 x 1,280 pixels and LED backlight.

This may not be an Apple Tribook, but hell that was just a fancy dream. This one is real and the IBM ThinkPad W700 feature list has us impressed.

Notebooks sales are being bolstered significantly by the booming sales of low-cost netbook computers. Many may not have been familiar with the name MSI before its popular Wind netbook hit the market. MSI offers more than netbooks in the US market with a full line of notebook computers as well.

Yesterday MSI announced its latest, affordable ultraportable notebook called the EX300. The machine uses a 13.3-inch widescreen display and offers ATI HD3450 graphics. MSI says the notebook weighs 4.5 pounds with the 8-cell battery.

Fujitsu Siemens has been showing off its AMILO Sa 3650 and AMILO GraphicBooster add-on for a few months, but it looks like both are now actually rolling out to the general public. The laptop is a 13-inch, AMD-based laptop in your choice of Turion X2 or Athlon X2 processors.

Some other features are an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card, up to 4GB of RAM, with either a 250GB or 320GB hard drive. The GraphicBooster add-on currently only works with the Sa 3650 and is based around an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 graphics card. It promises a stunning 470% increase in graphics performance over the laptop’s built-in graphics. No word on price yet, but both the laptop and the GraphicBooster should be available later this month.

Brando has a new cool gadget available. This time, they’re offering up a unique laptop cooler with USB Hub and HDD Slot built in. It measures 300mm x 252mm x 32mm and weighs 504grams. The device is equipped with three USB hubs, a 2.5-inch SATA HDD slot, and two fans to keep your laptop nice and cool.

You can plug in any 2.5 inch SATA hard drive to extend your storage when needed and it supports up to 250GB SATA HDD. Brando’s latest USB Notebook Cooling Pad retails for $33 and is a convenient gift to put under the tree this year.

LaCie’s LaCinema Rugged was announced late last month for those across the ocean, which left us Americans wondering if we would ever get to see it here in the US. Sure enough, here it is, in time for the holidays. LaCie has announced US pricing and availability for the bulked up multimedia drive, and you can get one right now starting at $199.99.

Sizes include 250GB, 320GB and 500GB. It’s rugged in name and rubberized build. Great for the media enthusiast who plans to throw their gear around the room and do all kinds of crazy “Will it still work” tests.

Notebooks are still one of the most hoped for items on many holiday wish lists despite the poor economy. Many who hope to get a notebook as a gift want a small and portable system like the one Toshiba has introduced to the US.

The Toshiba Portege A605 Laptop is a 12.1-inch ultraportable that weighs 3.3 pounds and measures 1.18-inches thick. Battery life is promised to be 6.9 hours and the system carries a retail price of $1399.99. A nice feature on the machine is the Sleep-and-Charge USB port that makes charging your USB devices easier to do.

Legos aren’t just for play you know. They can also be used to construct and even fix important real life things that you can use. Like this Lego PC case for example. Looking like some shiny black monolith, it’s made entirely out of black Lego bricks. Look how nice and shiny that is. He didn’t just randomly put Lego bricks together either. He used MLCAD to specifically design the PC before building.

The PC is a Mini-ITX form factor that allows for a low power PC inside, which runs a 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor and has a 250GB Seagate hard drive. It used to be that a portable hard drive had to be plugged into the wall AC outlet to be able to operate. Over time, some smaller capacity hard drives could be powered by the USB port totally, making them much more portable. Today even some larger capacity portable drives are powered by the USB port.

Memorex announced its new line of portable hard drives today that are completely USB powered. The line is called the Memorex Essential TravelDrive. All of the drives are 2.5-inch and are compatible with both Mac and PC systems and backup software is included with the drives.

SentrySafe, which is noted for its fire resistant external hard drives, is back in the news with a new 250GB model made in the same vein. The new SentrySafe QA0005 is priced at around $400.

The SentrySafe QA0005, like its predecessors, is designed to withstand select environmental conditions to protect your digital data. It is designed to be waterproof, even when submerged for up to a day, as well as fire resistant up to half-an-hour in 1550-degree temperatures. If it gets that hot, however, we doubt you’ll be donning your fire suit to retrieve it.
