Hitachi has introduced a pair of new external hard drives in the Hitachi Touro line. The Touro Pro Desktop and Pro Mobile deliver two levels of protection: local backup and cloud storage, which will help you protect, transport and store your photos, music, and videos.

The cloud storage is always good since it can survive theft, flood or fire and other dangers. And you get 3GB of online storage for free with the option to upgrade to 250GB for only $49 per year, which includes multiple computer protection.

Kogan introduces Ubuntu notebook, Android tablet in Australia

Kogan is launching a trio of new budget computing products in Australia: an Android tablet, an Ubuntu notebook, and a set-top-box that brings Android to your TV. I know, the tablet is just another in a sea of tablets, but the Agora model is just $140 (it will go up to $189). The tablet is expected to ship at the end of May with a 1 GHz Samsung processor, a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, 512MB of RAM, and a 3600mAh battery. It runs Google Android 3.0.

The Internet TV Portal will retail between $149 and $199, allowing you to run Android apps on your TV. The set top box will come with a special remote control that features special Android buttons. You can expect the Internet TV Portal on May 27th.

Toshiba MK6461GSYG 2.5” Drive with automatic data destruction

We are talking destroying data on purpose, not by accident. So don’t worry, Toshiba isn’t shipping any faulty gear here. The new MK6461GSYG Series of HDD is a secure HDD with AES 256Bit encryption that will “invalidate” the data, rendering it useless when the drive connects to an unknown computer. Therefore, making your data more secure.

You can expect these new drives to be available at the end of June in 160, 250, 320 and 640GB capacities with a 7,200rpm speed. No idea which laptops these will show up in. We will have to wait and see.

Acer Iconia W500 up for pre-order for $549

We already know the UK pricing for the Windows 7 and Android Honeycomb versions of Acer’s Iconia Tab, and now it is ready to arrive in the U.S. In fact, Best Buy started taking pre-orders for the Android 3.0-powered Iconia Tab A500 a few days ago, and now the Windows-based W500 has shown up for $549.

The W500 features a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) display, HDMI-out, dual cameras, up to 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics, and a 1GHz Ontario (C-50) AMD Fusion APU. It also sports a fancy keyboard dock. The three-cell battery is good for up to six hours. It ships on April 15th.

Delkin has launched their latest and fastest SD memory card, boasting transfer speeds up to 95MB/s read, 80MB/s write and a 633X speed rating that more than triples previous Class 10 capabilities. Those are some amazing specs. It may be so fast that it flies out of your device.

The new Elite 633X UHS-I SDHC memory card from Delkin uses the Secure Digital Association’s “Ultra High Speed” (UHS-I) specification, which allows bus-interface speeds of up to 104 Megabytes per second and it has full backwards compatibility among SDHC and SDXC host devices.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 arrives April 24th for $450

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 will arrive on shelves on April 24th. The WiFi-only version of Acer’s Android 3.0 tablet will hit Best Buy and online retail for $450 without a contract. It features a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 250 SOC, a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 LCD screen, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of flash storage.

Other features include a 5 megapixel camera in back and a 2 megapixel camera in front, HDMI-out, and a pair of 3260mAh batteries good for eight full hours of life. Not bad at all and under $500.

Epson Endeavor MR4100 desktop system

Epson is dropping some powerful machines that offer your choice of processors which include, Intel Core i3-2100, i5-2400, i5-2500 and i7-2600. RAM is from 2GB up to 16GB, and either Nvidia GeForce GT430 or ATI FirePro 2450.

You can also choose HDD or an SSD. There’s also a DVD Super Multi and Blu-Ray drive option. The Endeavor MR4100 looks pretty good too, but we don’t have any word on pricing just yet. We’ll let you know when we find out.

Archos Arnova 8 Android Tablet now available for Pre-Order

If you have been waiting for the Archos Arnova 8, the Android tablet is now available for pre-order in the US via the J&R online store. It will cost you just $159.99. That price isn’t very painful.

To refresh your memory, the Arnova 8 features an 8-inch 800 x 600 resistive touchscreen display, a 600MHz processor, a 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, G-sensor, 720p HD video playback support, a USB 2.0 port, two built-in speakers, WiFi and Android 2.1 is running things.

HP readying EliteBook 2560p and 2760p notebooks

HP is hard at work readying two new portable notebooks for release, the EliteBook 2560p and 2760p. The news comes from HP itself and a NotebookItalia report, which reveals some specs for the 12.1-inch notebooks.

They might replace the current 12.1-inch 2540p and 2740p as they are getting long in the tooth at about a year old. The 2760 will be a convertible tablet, and the 2560 a more traditional notebook. Both will feature USB 3.0, DisplayPort and your choice of 1.4GHz Core i5, 1.6GHz Core i7 and 2.7GHz Core i7 chips. They may also have up to 16GB of RAM and a Blu-ray drive. The 2760p offers an LED-backlit 1366×768 display and an optional 1440×900.

Acer will be launching two of their latest tablets, the Iconia Tab W500 and the Iconia Tab A500 in Europe on April 8th. Both tablets start at around 449 GBP (or $720). To refresh your memory, the Iconia Tab W500 features a 10.1-inch display, a 1GHz AMD C-50 processor, an AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics card, up to 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, a 1.3-megapixel camera, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI port, a 3-cell battery and runs Windows 7.

Super Talent announces new USB 3.0 Flash Drives

Many of us are still using USB 2.0, and it will take some time to phase it out, but more and more USB 3.0 devices are arriving daily. Now it is Super Talent’s turn as it is introducing a new line of USB 3.0 flash drives at USB 2.0 prices.

The USB 3.0 Express DUO 2-CH flash drives feature a cap-less design and a nice piano black finish. The design makes it so that you twist the plastic housing to reveal the USB 3.0 port inside. Verbatim Store n Go USB Drive Now Available

It looks like Verbatim has finally decided to release its new Store n Go USB drive. These drives are available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB storage spaces. The attraction here is that these drives are super-tiny, but with good capacity for the size.

These drives have a USB 2.0 interface and will deliver read and write speeds of up to 11 MB/s and 3 MB/s. The Verbatim Store n Go USB drive is available now in Europe and will cost you about $25 and up.

Asus Eee PC 1015B and 1215B

Fans of Asus computers will enjoy the company’s latest additions to the Eee PC family. The Eee PC 1015B and 1215B feature 10-inch and 12-inch displays, with prices starting at $289 and $379, respectively. That seems nice and affordable right? We like that.

Some other features include 250GB of storage, 1GB of memory, VGA, USB, and HDMI ports, along with 1080p output. For the price, that’s pretty decent. Who wants one?

Intel and Lenovo unveil Classmate+ PC Netbook for kids

Intel has announced the Classmate+ PC developed with Lenovo. Much like it’s earlier versions, this model targets the educational segment and students in grades K through 8. The PC sits inside a rugged, drop-resistant exterior and it sports a spill-resistant keyboard.

In other words, it will survive a child’s use. The Classmate+ features an Atom N455 CPU accompanied by the Intel NM10 Express Chipset and comes with either 1 or 2 GB RAM. Lenovo adds a choice of storage with a 16GB SSD unit or 250GB HDD as available options.
