“Yes I Do” soundwave wedding ring

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on November 23rd, 2008

“Yes I Do” soundwave wedding ringHere’s a ring only a married geek could love. Most people engrave their wedding ring with things like “Forever” or “Yes I Do” etc. Instead of engraving those words on a wedding ring, this ring comes with a cut-out of the sound wave of “Yes I Do”. Designer Sakura Koshimizu uses lasers to cut out the shape of the waveform of those sounds.

He’ll use sound editing software, record the sound and the software will show the sound waves on the screen, which can then be fed into a laser. Hey, it’s better then a tattoo. How many ya got now? Pam, Mary, Laura and Britney? Meanwhile you’re married to a Sarah. Yeah, this is much better. You know, just in case.

Bicycle Rickshaw with stripper pole leaves a trail of dollar bills

Bicycle Rickshaw with stripper pole leaves a trail of dollar billsIf you’re an enterprising entrepreneur or a stripper who can’t stay put, this is really the perfect vehicle for you and your pimp boss. Just don’t leave a trail of bills in your wake. Or clothes. It’s aptly named the Polerider and I will do my best to refrain from the obvious jokes.

The PoleRider was built by three professional industrial designers to withstand immense leverage loads without failing. So I’m assuming that means that larger women can earn a mobile living stripping as well. If you are into that sort of thing. The Polerider makes the rounds in NYC and you can rent it out by the hour complete with pole-dancing girl for $300 for the first, $200 each additional.

Creative Zen Moo

Posted in Creative by Conner Flynn on November 23rd, 2008

Creative Zen MooCreative is sick of living up to it’s name apparently, so why not make a swell barnyard MP3 player. Like the Zen Moo for instance. The Creative Zen Moo is in the shape of a cow’s face. They were so un-Creative that they didn’t even think to make you pull on the udders to milk some music out. This player looks like it’s pretty much a Zen Stone, including a tiny OLED display, 2B of internal memory, 20 hour playback time and an integrated FM tuner. The Creative Zen Moo was specially designed to pay a tribute to the year of the cow in the Chinese zodiac calendar for 2009.

Art Lebedev dreams up Luxofor traffic lightsArt Lebedev Studios has introduced it’s Luxofor traffic light prototype, with square lenses that are lit up by superbright diodes to make it them more visible to drivers and pedestrians. As usual, a million of you have slapped your head and asked “Why didn’t I think of that?”

The square light fills up the same space taken up by a round lens more completely. It’s just a concept right now, but the Art Lebedev team wants to cooperation with road safety councils and local authorities to improve and design road markings and signs. What will the team think of next?

Cell Phone takes a bullet, saves New Orleans manMan with two first names and New Orleans resident, Ronald Richard was minding his own business, mowing the lawn when he felt a hard object hit him in the chest. In the exact spot where he had his Motorola RAZR. Richard later took off his sweater and discovered the .45-caliber slug. His phone had taken a bullet for him.

According to paramedics, the angle of the bullet and the cellphone made all the difference. Otherwise he would be dead or seriously injured. The interesting part is that Richard normally clips his cell phone to the hip pocket of his overalls. On that day he hooked it to the chest area of the overalls just over his heart. So, does he owe his life more to his overalls or his phone?

Mitsubishi projector offers wide-angle and short throw

Posted in Mitsubishi by Shane McGlaun on November 20th, 2008

Mitsubishi WD500U-ST ProjectorWith some projectors that are used in the classroom or living room, getting a large image on the screen or a wall means needing a big room so the projector can be far enough from the surface the image is on. If you are in a smaller room that means you can end up with a smaller than ideal image.

This is where short throw projectors are perfect. Mitsubishi has announced a new short throw projector called the WD500U-ST that can throw an image 50-inches in size from only 28-inches from the screen or whiteboard.
