Sony Europe is treating its consumer base to a new BRAVIA television series which does full 1080p HD and offers an AVC-HD tuner. This series is called the BRAVIA W4000-Series.

The BRAVIA W4000-Series LCDs will reportedly range in size from 32- to 52-inches in screen diameter. You’ll get some reportedly really great images on your television with its BRAVIA ENGINE 2, 10-bit signal processing and 10-bit LCD panel. This will all bring you what Sony says is some 64 times more color.

Pantel seeks to bring the fun of HDTV to the outdoors with its new LCD panels. These models are known as the 42-inch PAN420 and 32-inch PAN320 and they price at $4,450 and $3,950 respectively.

Pantel has built its HDTVs to be weatherproof, operating in conditions the company says can reach -40 or 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The panels sport over 1,000 nits of brightness, reportedly make them bright enough to see outdoors. Resolution is set at 1366 x 768.

Consumer electronics company NuVision, which specializes in HDTVs, is out with a line up of 10 new models centered around its Lucidium line of HDTVs. Screen sizes range from 22- to 65-inches, according to Dealerscope, and pricing tops out at around $12,000.

The NuVision Lucidium line are all 1080p compatible. Depending upon the model, features possible across these models include Silicon Optix Realta HQV image processing, dual ATSC tuners, up to four HDMI 1.3 inputs and a new cabinet design.

Samsung launched some new plasma TV’s in Korea build in collaboration with Electronic Arts to provide a superior “3D” gaming experience. The company released two new PAVV HDTV’s, one measuring 42 inches and the other 50 inches, equipped with USB 2.0, HDMI, HD resolution, the Samsung DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image engine+) anda 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio.

Sony has just let loose two new and colorful Bravia LCDs towards the lower-end of the Bravia line. The new M1 series sports an array of different colorful frames availble bringing some light fun to the lineup of LCD HDTVs.

The two new models include the 20-inch KDL-20M1 and the 16-inch KDL-16M1 which both have just shy of 180 degree viewing angles at 178 and 1366 x 768 pixel displays. They also both contain 1080p HDMI inputs and the Bravia 2 video engine. The larger of the two houses two 5W speakers and has a 1,200:1 contrast ration while the smaller 16-inch model has a 1,800:1 contrast ratio and two 3W speakers.

Best Buy is getting all set to unleash its digital converter boxes on the shopping masses as America counts down towards the government mandated DTV transition occurring in 2009. It will have in stores on Feb. 17 the new Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs – also known as the NS-DXA1.

The NS-DXA1 is pricing at around $60 at Best Buy, but coupons being made available from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) knock $40 off of that. These boxes change “over-the-air broadcast signals to a readable analog format for TVs that rely solely on over-the-air broadcasts for content as opposed to receiving programming through a cable or satellite subscription.” They measure 8.5- x 6-inches and are eco-friendly.

Panasonic announced the DMC-TZ5 as another Lumix camera heading for shelves soon with very similar features to the DMC-FX35 model including a wide-angle lens and high-def video recording. The TZ5 loses a little in megapixels compared the FX35 with 9.1, but gains in just about everything else.

The DMC TZ5 Lumix has a 10x optical zoom, generous 3-inch LCD display and a 28mm wide-angle lens that can get almost twice as much panorama compared to typical lens. It also features Panasonic’s big 5 Intellegent Auto features for automatic adjustments for exposure, scene selection, image stabilization, facial detection of as many as 15 faces and ISO Control to adjust shutter speed for moving images. This model can also record video with 1280 x 720 HD resolution at 30 frames per second with an HD out component cable port.

Panasonic is expecting to have the TZ5 available by the end of March with a retail price of just under $350. More detailed release information below:

Olympus this week unveiled a trio of new Stylus compact digital cameras which it says offer dual image stabilization, 2.7-inch LCDs and a feature called “Perfect Shot Preview.” These models are the Stylus 840, Stylus 1010 and Stylus 1020 and pricing will range between about $250 and $350.

Perfect Shot Preview, as described by Olympus, “enables users to preview and select various photographic effects on a live, multi-window screen before snapping the shot.” The Stylus 1010 and 1020 will both offer 10-megapixels of shooting ability, with the Stylus 840 chiming in at 8-megapixels.

It looks like Sharp just took the lead in the race for the world’s thinnest production LCD television. The AQUOS X series TVs come is 37, 42 and 46-inch models and are an incredibly super-thin 34.4mm (1.35 inches). Part of Sharp’s ability to keep these LCDs so Svelte is attributed to the fact that the tuner and the I/O connections are in a separate box and not inside the actual TV. It’s then connected through a single cable to the television.

Amongst the other LCD HDTVs VIZIO was showing off last week at CES, one line which is being called “contemporary styled” is the new VU “Envy” series. It is set to be available sometime this year, though plans are finalized as of yet.

VIZIO said the VU series, which consists of 32-, 37- and 42-inch displays, offers up a side “HD Game Port” for easy connectivity to HDMI enabled devices. VIZIO said these models offer “exceptional video performance with reduced pixel noise and color equalization.”

Samsung was showing off at CES last week its new LCD HDTV Series 6 and 7 displays. Besides the nice style touches these LCDs are noted for their networking and easy connection capability. The Series 6 models are due out in March and the Series 7 units will debut in May.

These new Samsung displays come in 40-, 46- and 52-inch screen sizes. The Series 6 will let you connect multimedia devices and access their content on-screen. The Series 7 takes it a step further by letting devices be connected to a USB slot as well as offering internal flash memory preloaded with content.

Sharp towed to CES this week its usual interesting line up of cutting edge consumer electronics. A shining example of this is its AQUOS SE94 series flat panels which, among other features, are Internet-enabled. This particular family of Sharp televisions ranges in size from 46 to 65 inches and is priced between around $3,200 and $11,000.

The Sharp AQUOS SE94 series can, when connected to an Ethernet port, let you access a Sharp service which provides “customized Web-based content as well as real-time customer support directly on the AQUOS television.” The company, working with Web based content providers, says you’ll be able to configure widgets which let you get information like the local weather forecast as well as enjoy your favorite comic strip via your remote control.

VIZIO, that upstart HDTV brand you see for sale at Costco-like places, is dropping the LCD hammer big time at CES as it reveals lots of new HDTVs. One new line up of flat panel displays is the “Black Tie” series.

The VIZIO “Black Tie” series includes 42 and 47-inch displays. It is noted by VIZIO for having “120Hz processing with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), a side access HD game port and full 1080p resolution.”

Soyo, a developer of consumer electronics products, is showcasing at CES a new line of televisions being branded under the venerable Honeywell label. These televisions are known as the Altura LCD HDTVs and will come in a variety of sizes ranging from 42 to 82-inches (damm!).

The Honeywell Altura LCD HDTVs share a variety of features in common, including full HD 1080p, SRS TruBass and TruSurround, Dolby Digital ProLogicII Sound and MTS/SAP, a/v stereo and a dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000:1. JVC continued its announcements of new CES releases as it unveiled what it is calling the world’s thinnest LCD TVs with built-in tuners. These new LCD televisions consist of the 42-inch LT-42SL89 and the 46-inch LT-46SL89.

Both models offers 1920 x 1080p resolution and feature a cabinet that across most of its width measures 1.5 inches (39mm) deep, with a maximum depth of 2.9-inches (74mm) at the panel’s center. Also part of this new design is a thinner bezel. These models also weigh less and consume less power than many conventional LCD TVs.
