Sharp’s new AQUOS DH77 LCD TV features full High Definition support and 100Hz technology. It’s available in 32 inch, 42 inch, 46 inch and 52 inch flavors and they all have a “green eco-button” on the remote control that lets viewers lower the energy consumption of the TV when it isn’t in use.

The new AQUOS HDTVs also adopt the “Optical Picture Control” technology that automatically adjusts the backlight brightness according to the lighting in the room. Some other features include a 50,000:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI inputs and a USB port.

One of the biggest places that you can save on your power usage in your home or business is by cutting off devices like TVs and PC LCDs that draw power even when they aren’t being used. Dell has announced a new 14-inch LCD that has features for green power savings.

The display is called the G2410 24-inch Wide Green Flat Panel monitor. Typically, 24-inch LCDs have a resolution of 1920 x 1200, but dell cuts the G2410 back to 1920 x 1080, plenty for full 1080p movies and content. However, the gamer out there will be disappointed by the lack of full resolution.

Looks like LG has two new Scarlet sets coming, both with integrated Bluetooth. Pretty girl not included as usual. To start, the LH70 line will consist of two models, a 42 incher that’s 39.7mm thin and a 47 incher that’s 40.9mm thin.

Each will feature a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz technology, 2 millisecond response time, a USB port for connecting external media, touch sensitive power button, DivX compatibility and an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust screen brightness to adjust to the room that you are viewing in and conserve energy.

How does that headline grab you? Start saving your money now. According to HD Guru, Honeywell will sell an 82″ 1080p LCD in the US THIS year. Honeywell isn’t exactly a name we associated we the next huge-ass LCD.

They are actually just licensing their name to Taiwan-based Soyo, who will be making this 300-pound behemoth. Some features include 120Hz motion-blur reduction, 178-degree viewing angle, 3 HDMI inputs, and a dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000:1. The model number is MT-HWGWT8218AM.

Last weekend may have been rough on football fans that have spent the last few months feasting on the glut of weekend football games. The last big game for the season will be played next weekend and it’s the big game — the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl is a big deal to many sports fans and means that each year many football fans go all out on parties to watch the big game. Usually these parties center on lots of food and a big screen TV to watch the action.

JVC is introducing at CES 2009 what it calls a new category of flat panel television design – a super slim monitor said to feature a color space wider than typical HDTVs. It is called the LT-42WX70 and no pricing or release information is known as of yet.

The LT-42WX70, said JVC, was designed to reproduce the colors, detail and “texture” of high resolution images captured on digital SLR cameras. It, in fact, is designed to target digital imaging professionals and others into using high end digital cameras, though it is fully functional as well as a home television. It sports a 42-inch display in a slim body design.

For a while there, manufacturers were concentrating on large sizes, now it’s depth that is all important. TVs are big and you can get one up to 150 inches if you’re rich and bored, but how thin are they? Chances are they are not thin enough to match your wall art. That’s all about to change as companies race to put out the first super-thin LCD TVs.

JVC is about to show off a new prototype of a 32-inch LCD HDTV at CES this week. It’s unique because it’s a mere 7mm thick and weighs in at just 11 pounds, which thinner and lighter than your TV. Most laptops no longer weigh that. Since it’s a prototype, it won’t be showing up on store shelves anytime soon, but with everyone racing to get them to consumers, it won’t be a long wait.

AOC is a company that has been delivering solid, affordable HDTVs /displays for a little while now. AOC’s V22 Verfino is a 22 inch LED backlit panel at 1,680 x 1,050 resolution that provides 100,000:1 contrast ratio, HDMI inputs, 2ms response time, Dynamic contrast ratio control.

This LCD monitor should be perfect for your gaming needs. There’s no price info just yet, but it will be coming in early 2009. Judging by AOC’s history, it’s probably reasonably priced.

I wanted a surround sound system for many years and for one reason or another, I was never able to get one set up. In the early years of being married, our apartments were too small for a surround sound setup. Then once we had a house the wife deemed wires and speakers too ugly.

At the time, there were no sound bars for me to use, but for those in similar situations today you have options. Viewsonic has announces its first 24-inch full HDTV called the VT2430 that is perfect for smaller spaces like a bedroom, dorm, or office. The set offers 10,000:1 dynamic contrast and has integrated ATSC, NTSC, and QAM TV tuner along with multiple connectivity options. The set features HDMI 1.3 connectivity and a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Today is one of the busiest shopping days of the year with holiday shoppers flocking to stores and malls for good deals. Despite the poor economy, electronics are still expected to sell well this holiday season and Vizio has announced some of the deals on its HDTVs for today.

Vizio is one of the top shippers of TVs in America. Costco will be offering a 19-inch VA19 LCD HDTV for $199.99 with a coupon through 12-7. At Walmart the 32-inch VP322 plasma HDTV, (the set credited with bringing plasma bask by many research firms) will retail for $437.

The nationwide switch from analog to digital broadcasts will be here before you know it. While the switch won’t affect most TV watchers in the U.S., there are some who are still not ready. As a result of old analog TVs not functioning after the switch, many have been upgrading to digital flat panel TVs. This has been one of the major factors pushing growth in the TV market.

DisplaySearch has released its quarterly reports on the number of TVs shipped worldwide for Q3 2008. Despite the poor economy, TV shipments grew by 11% quarter-over-quarter and 6% year-over-year. Over 53 million TVs were shipped worldwide in the quarter. Shipments in North America grew more than expected with a 12% increase compared to last quarter to 10 million units.

When it comes to affordable, big picture widescreen movies and gaming the route to take is a projector. With a projector, you can get HD images as large as traditional HDTVs for a fraction of the cost. To get a 100-inch image on a plasma or LCD TV would run tens of thousands of dollars where a projector can easily do it for a few thousand dollars.

ViewSonic has introduced a new projector aimed at used looking for widescreen resolution and full 1080p image quality. The projector is called the PJ359w and offers 2000 lumens of brightness and a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution.

Sharp dropped their AQUOS DX series, the first LCD TVs with built-in Blu Ray Disc Recorders. It’s a series of 16 new models ranging in size from 26-Inch to 52-Inch screen sizes in a variety of colors. All are compatible with BD-RE V2.1 (Single / Dual layer), BD-R 1.1 (Single / Dual Layer) recordable disc, and most available playable discs. The HDTVs also feature the Digital W Tuner which allows you to watch TV while recording programs. The Kameyama LCD Panel will provide smooth picture quality. It will cost you from €1200 to €3600.
