Modu T is the lightest 3G handset ever

Modu is offering what they are calling the “The Lightest 3.5G Touch Phone in the World”. It runs on Brew and goes by the name Modu T. This is the company’s first touchscreen handset that features a 2.2-inch display, GPS, FM radio, 2GB of internal memory and support for expansion via microSD cards.

It’s fully compatible with their ‘fy’ add-ons, which means you can add features to this device like a 5MP camera, sports kits to it for the exercise, and even a QWERTY keypad. It comes with Facebook and other social networking options as well.

Kingston introduces Class 4 32GB microSDHC card

Coming just days after SanDisk’s 32GB microSDHC card has fallen to $87, Kingston outs a nearly identical unit of its very own. This one is a class 4 instead of Class 2, which means that you can look forward to a 4MB/s minimum data transfer rate.

Obviously that speed boost comes at a high price, when it starts shipping on Monday, with the card alone priced at $153. So you can either go slow and cheap, or pricey and fast. You decide.

Cherrypal announces $188 CherryPad America Android tablet

Cherrypal has now entered the tablet game, with the CherryPad America. The device is a $188 tablet that packs a 7-inch resistive touchscreen, Android 2.1 (a 2.2 update will come later this year), an 800MHz ARM11 processor, 2GB of flash storage, a microSD card slot for expansion, built-in WiFi, and a 3200 mAh battery that will deliver six to eight hours of use.

Cherrypal claims that the CherryPad will have full access to the Android Market, which is unusual and welcome. It’s available right now should you have a spare $188.

AT&T announces Android Motorola Flipside

AT&T has announced the Motorola Flipside, an Android smartphone. The Flipside has a sliding keyboard form factor, with a front trackpad. It sports a 3.1-inch HVGA screen and Motorola’s CrystalTalk technology for noise cancellation.

Some other features include MOTOBLUR, Android 2.1, and a TI OMAP 3410 processor with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps support. There is 512 MB/256 MB ROM/RAM and a 2 GB microSD card in the box. Bluetooth, WiFi b/g, and GPS are standard.

The device packs in a 7-inch 800 x 480 resistive touchscreen display, 128MB RAM, and 2GB/8GB/16GB of flash storage.

Disgo is offering a new budget-friendly Android tablet dubbed the Tablet 6000. The device measures only 14.6mm thick, with a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, 256MB RAM, 2GB of flash storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

It also features WiFi, two built-in 0.5W speakers, two mini-USB ports, a headphone jack, a mini-HDMI port, a 1500mAh battery and Android 2.1 is running the show. The Tablet 6000 ships at the end of this month for an affordable $290.

Samsung Galaxy Tab now available for Pre-Order in Sweden

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is finally available for pre-order in Sweden via Telenor. That should make people in that part of the world very happy. This tablet is being offered for free with a 2-year contract that will cost you 369 SEK (or about $55) per month.

The Galaxy Tab offers a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen TFT LCD display, 512MB RAM, 16GB/32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, a 3-megapixel autofocus camera in back, 720p HD video recording, GPS, 2.5G, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI port and runs on Android 2.2 Froyo.

Next 10 inch Android tablet

Next, a popular UK high street chain, will be stocking their own-branded Android tablet, which will be called the Next 10-inch tablet. It will run Android 2.1, but we don’t know if it will have an update for the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system soon or not.

It will cost you £180 for the following specs. A 10-inch LED touchscreen display at 1024x 600 resolution, 1.0GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 8GB internal memory, Wi-Fi, Android 2.1 operating system, USB 2.0 connectivity, 3.5mm headphone port, microSD memory card slot.

Novatel launches smallest dual carrier HSPA+ USB device on the market

Novatel is the maker of some of the most common USB modems and other devices that you will find at many carriers around the country. The latest offering from Novatel is being called the smallest dual carrier HSPA+ USB modem on the market. The small device supports two carrier networks and was unveiled this week in Spain.

The modem is called the Ovation MC545 and showed an OTA download speed of 40.5Mbps in demonstrations in Spain. The device is based on 3GPP Release 8 Standards and has a peak max download speed of 42Mbps and upload speed of 5.7Mbps.

Samsung Galaxy S Femme Aveda Limited Edition

The Samsung Galaxy has been a hot seller for Samsung all over the world. Now Sammy wants to impress the fairer sex, so they have teamed up with cosmetics maker Aveda to roll out a special edition of the Galaxy S which consists of a pink phone plus some extras from Aveda like an Aveda app, 4GB microSD card, a voucher and a travel kit consisting of various creams.

Samsung will also be preinstalling an Aveda app which will give beauty advice. Only 5000 of these will be sold, but we have no idea what the price is or when it will be available.

Sanyo Innuendo hits Sprint with hidden OLED display

Sprint is offering a unique Sanyo-branded handset built by Kyocera. The Innuendo is a horizontal flip-phone with a QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch, 400×240 display. The exterior features a keypad that is hidden when not lit up and in use, along with a matching 1.3-inch OLED external display.

Other specs include a 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, MP3 playback and a microSD memory card slot. It comes with a 1GB microSD card. Users can access Sprint’s E-mail, TV, Music, GPS mapping and a browser, while Sanyo preloads Facebook, MySpace and Twitter apps.

T-Mobile G2 hitting Radio Shack for $149

We already knew that Best Buy would start selling the T-Mobile G2 for $199, with a two year contract with T-Mobile. And now another retailer will offer a better deal. Radio Shack will be selling the T-Mobile G2 for $149.99 after rebates with a two year mobile service agreement, although we don’t know yet when the deal will be available.

The T-Mobile G2 will come with Android 2.2 Froyo, and will feature an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will make use of T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network which will give you download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.

Droid 2 R2-D2 Edition boot animation

A new animation for the R2-D2 Edition Motorola Droid 2 has shown up online and it looks like the official version. Star Wars fans will love this one for sure. The Droid 2 R2-D2 edition features the same specifications as the standard edition, with a 3.7 inch WVGA TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 854.

Other specifications include a 1GHz processor, 8GB of built in storage plus a microSD card slot that comes with an 8GB card as standard, and it can be upgraded to a 32GB micro SD card.

I will say right up front that I never really saw the point of smartbooks. They are the same basic size as a netbook, though they are a pound or so lighter. The big downside in my mind has always been the performance of a smartbook.
