Brother Japan to release a $1,100 e-book reader

Posted in ebooks by Conner Flynn on February 12th, 2010

The SV-70 will probably not be coming to the States and that’s just fine with us. It ditches the Bluetooth module of its predecessor and the 2GB microSD card that was included for a lower price of $1,100 MSRP.

The rest of the specs are the same: a 9.7-inch, 1200 x 825 display, 100MB of internal memory, microSD expansion slot, and 83 hours worth of battery life. That’s a lot of document reading time. We wonder how business guys will actually take this device.

A 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, touch-sensitive navigation pad, pre-installed 8GB microSD card and Bluetooth support. We are hoping for multitouch, but there’s no mention of it. We can hope. No word yet on price, but as usual we should know any day now.

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2010

Is that really an image of Michelle Pfeiffer from Grease 2 being used to pimp out yet another pink phone to girls? Why yes. Yes it is. Though I’m not sure if this is an actual image from the company. Japan’s NTT Docomo has teamed up with “Seventeen” magazine to announce a new FOMA branded clamshell device in Pink. The “SH-05B” is arriving on Feb 05th and will be available in two versions of Pink. Yurukawa pink which means “loosley pink” and yancha pink which means “mischievous pink”.

The handsets are pretty boring with a small monochrome display on the outside and a large 3.0-inch TFT on the inside. Some features include a 5MP camera, microSD card support (up to 16GB), GPS and Bluetooth.

Inbrics M1 is a super-thin Android slider

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on January 10th, 2010

We don’t normally see many Android devices in slider form, the Motorola Droid aside, but the Inbrics M1 is another and it’s extremely thin for a slider. The features are pretty decent as well. It boasts a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 3-megapixel camera, front-facing VGA camera, an 800MHz processor, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card slot, and a full QWERTY keyboard.

Not too shabby at all. It runs Android 1.5 for now, but by the time it hits in March 2010, Android 2.0 should be onboard. Nothing on carrier or price yet, but you will know when we do.

3M MPro150 pocket projector is small and portable

Posted in 3M by Shane McGlaun on January 7th, 2010

Projectors for a long time were large boxy devices that had to be carried around in their own case to keep them safe. This was a huge pain for users who had to use projectors to give presentations frequently. Thankfully, the smaller pocket and pico projectors started coming out that reduced the size of the average projector considerably.

3M has unveiled a new pocket projector at CES called the MPro150 that can throw a 50-inch image and has 15 lumens of brightness. That isn’t going to cut it in bright rooms. The projector has 1GB of internal storage allowing presentations to be uploaded directly to the device.

The projector runs on Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 and has 2GB of flash memory along with a microSD card slot with support up to 32GB.

Of course it’s also packing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to connect to your laptop or other device. The battery life is 2 hours, which is about what you would expect. It’s very useful for a variety of situations.
