17,000 USB sticks left at dry cleaners in 2010

Posted in USB Flash Drives by Conner Flynn on March 1st, 2011

Shopping for a USB stick? Might as well just go to a laundromat or a dry cleaners. There has apparently been a 400 per cent increase in the number of USB sticks being left behind in clothes to be dry cleaned. The news comes from a survey taken by more than 500 dry cleaners and laundrettes. About 17,000 USB sticks were left in 2010, that’s four times the number found in 2009.

It’s an epidemic that shows no signs of stopping. Sometimes it is in your shirt, sometimes in your pants, but it always ends up in the wash. Please do your part and save a USB stick today.

Boost Case for iPhone 4

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 6th, 2010

No matter how good the battery is on a device, we need more juice. The iPhone 4, like everything else, always seems to run down at the worst times. And the iPhone 4 also needs a case, so you might as well take care of both problems with one device.

The Boost Case will fit the bill since it has a battery inside. It has a black exterior with blue LEDs to show how much battery life is left in the device. The battery inside has 1700mAh of power and the case is just 0.69″ thick. The case can be charged alone or you can charge the case battery and the iPhone 4 battery at the same time, which is nice.

Motorola Tri-band CDMA WX404 shows up at the FCC

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on July 20th, 2010

The Motorola WX404 has had a visit with the FCC. Details are still pretty scarce, but we think they caught up on old times, asked about wives and kids, bitched about the weather and shared a spot of tea.

Looks like the device will feature a full QWERTY keyboard, tri-band 850/1700/1900MHz CDMA radios, camera, USB port, Bluetooth, microSD card support, and a headphone jack. It’s no iPhone killer or Droid X fighter, that’s for sure, but as a budget messaging phone, it may be swell.

Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 ships with Malware

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2010

This kind of issue is becoming more common, sadly. Olympus has issued a warning to those who recently purchased the Stylus Tough 6010 shockproof and waterproof camera. About 1700 of these cameras shipped with malware on its internal XD cards.

The camera itself is fine, but the malware on the XD card uses the autorun feature on your PC to launch itself and possibly infect your computer. If you are unsure whether you have an affected camera, you can enter the serial number on the company’s website. (Which is Japanese)

BunBun Eco Light: Twirl to charge

Posted in Flashlights by Conner Flynn on April 1st, 2010

Eco gadgets that don’t require batteries usually have a solar panel in them. Or maybe they require you to crank a handle to juice it up. Well, the BunBun Eco Light has neither. Instead, you just have to twirl it around for about 30 seconds.

All of that kinetic energy will juice the battery and give you 5 minutes of light using a trio of LEDs. You would probably be twirling something anyway, like your keys. The BunBun Eco Light should arrive this month for around $22 in pink, green, purple and black colors.

If you are an audiophile of the type that will pay big money for a great set of headphones Ultrasone has unveiled its new Edition 8 Palladium Edition headphones. The things feature natural S-Logic surround sound and have 30-ohm impedance.
