Gateway recently unveiled some new desktop PCs – some of which are new models and the rest of which are revamps of existing PC line ups. These new computers are mostly available now, with prices ranging from around $550 to $3,500.

Gateway specifically updated or added new FX, GT and DX Series models. The one pictured above, for example, is the FX7026. All of these computers offer either Intel or AMD processors and at least one available at retail still has Windows XP. For more details, check out the full press release after the jump.

Here it is. RIM has finally taken the wraps off the Blackberry 9000 we’ve been hearing rumors about and officially launched the Blackberry Bold. Reportedly the latest smartphone from Research In Motion gets the “Bold” name from the exceptionally crisp and bright display that comes with it.

That display comes as a 480×320 pixel, 65,000 color VGA screen that according to Crave is better than anything else they have ever seen. The other most notable feature is the wireless connection options available on this guy. It’s a GSM 850/900/1800/1900 phone and has HSDPA/UMTS (850/1900/2100) support which has never before been available on a Blackberry, and apparently they’ve done it right without sacrificing battery life in the process. Let’s also not forget that the Blackberry Bold is also connected via Wi-Fi (a/b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS.

Onda announced their latest portable media player with some cool features, the VX777. This one comes with WiFi and internet radio and looks like it may even incorporate a touch-screen. It boasts a 4.2” color TFT with a resolution of 480 X 272. Is this the first MP3 player from China that does WiFi?

It sports a 3000mAh battery, good for 30 hrs of audio and 10 hrs of video playback. Plus it has support for almost all the major formats except OGG, has a built-in speaker, a TV-out connection. Some other features:

Globwon Electronics is making available to overseas purchasers a new Chinese watch phone. It is called the Globwon ZTC-F1 and you’ll find it pricing around $225.

The Globwon ZTC-F1 is a quad-band, mobile phone which supports Bluetooth for hands-free calling and includes an integrated 1.3-megapixel digital camera. It’s also got FM radio capability and comes with a 1GB memory card.

The Newman M8000 looks pretty nice. Even better when you find out it has 250GB of hard drive inside! That’s a TON of space to carry around all of your entertainment, and it will likely take you quite a while before you use it all up.

If budget is a consideration, you can choose from the 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB models. Some features include: 4″ TFT display at 320 x 240 resolution,TV out, Supports MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 formats, 1.3 megapixel camera, SD memory card slot, Game emulation and PVR functionality

Nokia has announced the 5220 XpressMusic phone with built-in lanyard making it an easy-to-carry device. This music phone will give you 24 hours of playback time and comes with the usual XpressMusic keys at the side and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Nokia 5220 XpressMusic will start shipping by the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated retail price of €160. Some specs include: 2.0 inch QVGA display(240 x 320 pixels) with up to 256,000 colors, 30 MB internal memory, support for up to 2GB microSD memory card, 2 megapixels camera, video recording in QCIF quality, Up to 5 hours talk time.

If there is one thing that makes carting cameras and camcorders with you to family events and kid’s activities easier it’s small devices. I bought my wife a Sanyo Xacti HD camcorder because I wanted something small that was easy to stash. Most married guys know that once the wife tires of holding something you end up keeping up with it.

AgfaPhoto has a new HD camcorder that records at 1280 x 720 in MPEG-4 and uses H.264 compression. The tiny camcorder measures only 4.7-inches x 2.75-inches and weighs under 200g. Videos are shot in 16:9 wide screen format and can be played directly on your HDTV at home.

Hewlett-Packard has now officially released the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, 8.9-inch ultraportable laptop. It’s priced at around $500, and the Asus Eee-PC competitor comes packed with a VIA C7-M ULV processor (in 1GHz to 1.6GHz), Chrome 9 integrated graphics, and it supports up to 2GB of DDR2 667MHz main memory. Some other features include a 8.9″ 1280 x 768 LCD display, and up to 160GB of hard drive storage. How about an optional 64GB solid-state drive or 4GB Flash drive, optional web camera, built-in stereo speakers and microphones, Broadcom 802.11a/b/g or b/g wireless module, optional Bluetooth 2.0, a Gigabit Ethernet connection, two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, Secure Digital (SD) slot, and VGA output.

It also sports a 92% full-sized keyboard, accompanied by a touchpad with scroll zone. The battery provides just over 2 hours of juice with the standard 3-cell battery, and 4 hours with the 6-cell extended life battery.

ASUS launched its latest ultraportable notebook today and it’s a looker. The ASUS U2E is an 11-inch notebook weighing only 2.7 pounds and clad in leather. According to ASUS the notebook is hand crafted and designed to appeal to the user’s sense of style.

The U2E claims to be the lightest notebook available with a built-in DVD-RW drive and the system runs on Windows Vista. Since Vista is resource intensive ASUS ships the U2E with 3GB of high-speed DDR2 memory.

Royal – those guys which make typewriters and cheap PDAs – are dipping their toes in deeper CE waters with the quiet release of a new GPS system. It is called the Royal Expedition Portable Navigation System and it is priced at around either $250 or $400, depending upon where you look online.

The Royal Expedition Portable Navigation System is very much your garden variety GPS system, though we hear you can type a mean newsletter with it as well. It is loaded with United States and Canada maps, offers a touchscreen interface and also doubles as a MP3 player with 2GB of SD memory card memory.

GPS maker TomTom earlier this week revealed some new GPS models outfitted with new routing technology which takes into account average speeds on a road when creating a route. These models – the Go 930 and Go 730 – will be available by the end of April.

This new TomTom technology, known as IQ Routes, is based on actual average speeds on roads, rather than the posted speed limits. It gathers this data from “anonymous historical speed profiles of over 6.2 billion miles of driven roads” from millions of TomTom users. The company says that nearly half the time having this data, planning the route results in a faster trip.

For all those adventurous Richard Branson types of adventurers out there, this is the wrist-worn Digital Hero 3 camera. This thing will stand up to some abuse. It comes in a waterproof and shockproof plastic case that won’t bother your wrist while you wear it all day long. Canon is introducing this week a new entry level digital SLR to its popular line of EOS Rebel digital cameras. It is called the Canon EOS Rebel XSi and pricing is set at around $800 for a body only kit and $900 for a lens kit which includes the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens.

The Rebel Xsi is a 12.2-megapixel shooter which Canon has dressed up with “an improved autofocus sensor, enhanced 14-bit A/D conversion, an advanced Live View function, and the proprietary DIGIC III image processor.” Canon has also newly designed this camera’s CMOS sensor.

Sony, the proclaimed leader in the high-definition camcorder category, rolled into CES this week with six new HD camcorder models. They offer features like 1920 x 1080 resolution recording and face detection technology. Sony says “the SR12, SR11, SR10, UX20 and UX10 models will all ship in March for about $1,400, $1,200, $1,000, $1,000 and $800, respectively. The HDR-HC9 camcorder will ship in February for about $1,100.”

The consumer electronics giant added that all these new camcorders feature a new high-profile encoding system and, depending upon the model, offer other must haves like high resolution digital still captures and hybrid/hybrid plus movie recording.

Even though Apple’s MacWorld is only a week away we wouldn’t expect Jobs and company to just stay quiet during the whole week of CES, patiently waiting for their time. Today Apple unveiled the new Mac Pro and the Xserve both with the ability to be powered by up to 8 processor cores.

The Mac Pro houses two of Intel’s 45nm Quad-Core Xeon processors at up to 3.2GHz giving it twice the power of the prior model. It comes packing a 1600MHz front-side bus and as much as 32GB of 800MHz memory, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card with 256MB, dual gigabit Ethernet and 4 available HDD bays that combined can bring 4TB of storage to the new Mac Pro. Also, the number eight is most significant here with processor cores but it’s also the number of 30-inch monitors that can be driven by the computer.
