HTC Puccini 10-inch tablet revealed

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2011

The first solid images of HTC’s upcoming 10-inch slate have surfaced, called the HTC Puccini. Looks pretty sweet. We don’t have much in the way of confirmed specifications, but the tablet will feature an 8-megapixel camera with what appears to be a dual-LED flash, as well as stereo speakers and a microphone.

The Puccini also supports stylus input just like the HTC Flyer. Other rumored specs include a 1.5GHz processor, Android Honeycomb, HTC Sense and a 4G LTE radio. Nothing on a launch date, but we hope it will be soon.

Password problem on Amazon.com

Posted in Amazon by Conner Flynn on January 29th, 2011

It has been reported that there is a security flaw on the Amazon site that allows customers to log into their account without using their exact password. For example, if your password is PASSWORD, users can enter “password”, “passwordpassword”, “password12345″ to login to the account and it will still work.

This is apparently because the site still uses an old password encrypting technique that truncates passwords after the 8th character for some accounts that have kept the same password for many years. So users were not able to protect their accounts with passwords longer than 8 characters. However, Amazon has solved the problem – users just need to update their password, and it should automatically upgrade the password encryption.

Netgear has surprised no one by announcing a few more HD media players. The NeoTV 550 and 350 are both similar to the Digital Entertainer Elite which was released last year without a 500GB internal hard drive as well as access to VOD services including CinemaNow.

Both are capable of playing a long list of codecs in full HD from a variety of attached sources like USB, eSATA (in the case of the 550) or SD storage, as well as streaming content from UPnP, DLNA or WMP11 networks. The 550 has support for external Blu-ray drives and BD-Live.

Self-Publishing is easy with Amazon’s Digital Text Platform

Posted in Review by Conner Flynn on June 1st, 2010

Whether you own an ereader or not, chances are you’ve heard all about how self-publishing is easier today than it has ever been before, allowing authors to quickly and easily publish their work. And I’m here to tell you that it’s true. However many authors out there still haven’t taken advantage of it.

Maybe you don’t have the time to look into it, maybe you’re still getting over the sting from all of the rejection letters you got in the old days, with the old way of publishing. Whatever the reason, many times we hear about new and great ways to do things and it just goes in one ear and out the other. Probably because we think there has to be a catch.

Alien Abduction Lamp releasedThis lamp has been a long time coming and we’ve been waiting patiently for our chance to see cows in mid-abduction. It has finally gone from prototype to reality. You gotta love the aliens peering out of the UFO windows.

This final version of the lamp features LEDs that light up the alien cockpit, and a steel retro spacecraft over an illuminated tractor beam. You can have the light always on or a pulse lighting effect behind the windows. When you turn the lights off, the aliens glow in the dark.
