Redbox adds video games to 5,000 more kiosks

Redbox has announced that it will add video game rentals to an additional 5,000 kiosks starting August 1st. The company announced last month that game titles for the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Wii would be added to 16,000 more redbox kiosks by the end of June, and the total after this next round of additions will approach 27,000.

Redbox owns and operates about 33,000 rental kiosks around the country, and the company did not indicate if or when video games might be added to the remaining 6,000 kiosks that will not have them. All games carried in redbox kiosks are $2 per night.

HTC Ignite and HTC Prime show up

Phone House, the Dutch version of the Car Phone Warehouse in the UK, has listed two upcoming Windows Phone 7 handsets from HTC as coming soon. There’s the HTC Ignite, a previously leaked low end Windows Phone 7 handset with a 3.7 inch screen and 800 Mhz processor.

The other is the HTC Prime, a slider with a 5 megapixel camera. With Phone House listing the handsets, we are taking it as pretty much confirmed that the handsets are on the way, and coming soon.

OtterBox Commuter Series for iPhone 4 now in new summer colors

Razer Electra Smartphone & Tablet Gaming Headset Coming October 2011

Razer has a new set of gaming headphones called the Razer Electra, which are specifically designed for tablet and smartphone gamers. They have enhanced bass response with optimized drivers, as well as replaceable sound-isolating leatherette ear cushions.

It also has a detachable rubber sheathed audio cable and detachable inline microphone audio cable for voice communication. However the combined inline cable microphone only works in a port that mixes audio and microphone capability, like many smartphone and tablet jacks.

Panasonic introduces the world lightest 3D Glasses

To 3D or not to 3D. That is the question still facing many of you. Well, at least the nerd glasses are getting lighter. The new TY-EW3D Series from Panasonic claim to be the world lightest 3D glasses available with just 26g in total in its S and M version while the L Version with its 27g seems to be as “heavy” as other models on the market.

These new glasses also come with a new battery offering you up to 3 hours worth of 3D just after 2 minutes of charge or a total of 25 hours of 3D if fully charged for 30 minutes.

Sony Launches New S-Frame Digital Video Photo Frames

Sony has three new S-Frame digital video photo frames. The DPF-HD1000, DPF-HD800 frames support HD video play back with support for MPEG4, MPEG1, and Motion JPEG videos captured on digital cameras.

Both frames have an internal 2GB of memory and the HD800 has an 8 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 and the HD1000 has a resolution of 1026 x 600 with a 10.1-inch screen. These new Frames also have integrated speakers and are designed to also playback audio files supporting MP3, AAC, and Linear PCM.

Xbox 360 Media Remote

The Xbox 360 Media Remote has been announced. Media playback controls include all of the usual like play/pause, skip forward, fast forward, skip back, fast back, and display to control DVD, CD, or streamed media.

As far as TV controls, there’s power on/off, volume up/down, mute and TV input. So it’s pretty much your standard remote with some XBox flare. The menu navigation controls include A, B, X, Y buttons, D-pad navigation, back and select. It will be available for $19.99 in early November.

HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr, Verizon’s first 4G LTE-powered notebook

Verizon has at last unveiled its first 4G LTE notebook, after churning out many other 4G devices. The HP Pavilion dm 1-3010nr Entertainment PC is designed for media lovers. You can stream HD content, play games, video chat, download music, photos, and videos at lightning speed thanks to Verizon’s 4G network. You won’t know how you got along being so slow for so long.

The notebook measures less than 1.2″ thick, sports a 1.60GHz AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 11.6″ HD HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768), 320 GB HDD with HP ProtectSmart hard drive protection, VGA webcam with integrated microphone, multi-format card reader, WiFi, and 4G LTE connectivity. Windows 7 Home Premium operating system runs things.

HTC Puccini 10-inch tablet revealed

The first solid images of HTC’s upcoming 10-inch slate have surfaced, called the HTC Puccini. Looks pretty sweet. We don’t have much in the way of confirmed specifications, but the tablet will feature an 8-megapixel camera with what appears to be a dual-LED flash, as well as stereo speakers and a microphone.

The Puccini also supports stylus input just like the HTC Flyer. Other rumored specs include a 1.5GHz processor, Android Honeycomb, HTC Sense and a 4G LTE radio. Nothing on a launch date, but we hope it will be soon.

RadioShack ditches T-Mobile for Verizon on September 15th

RadioShack ditches T-Mobile for Verizon on September 15th Radio Shack is ending its partnership with T-Mobile in favor of a new one with Verizon, which will be joining current partners AT&T and Sprint. If you want a T-Mobile phone or service plan at Radio Shack the last day to get one is September 14th.

The next day Verizon moves in and setting up shop the very next day. The partnership with T-mobile was apparently unprofitable and also a very rocky relationship. Better get that T-Mobile phone from the Shack now.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE hits Verizon Wireless on July 28th

Just a few more days until this dual-core Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet arrives at Verizon Wireless. Best Buy already put the device up for sale last month. Verizon’s version is now up for pre-order, with a 10.1″ display at 1,280 × 800 resolution, a 3-megapixel camera right at the back, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, and 4G LTE connectivity.

The 16GB and 32GB models will retail for $529.99 and $629.99, with a two-year contract. A Wi-Fi-only 16 GB model is $499.

Gerber Steady multi-tool includes a tripod

We’ve seen our share of multi-tools around here, but none of them have a tripod. The Gerber Steady has one, making this multi-tool great for both adventurers and photographers. It has a pair of legs on one side and a folding tripod screw on the other.

Libratone Live AirPlay wireless speakers

Libratone has announced a new speaker that uses the AirPlay Wi-Fi streaming feature on Macs to deliver audio and podcasts from your iTunes library to anywhere in your network. They will go on sale in the UK in September for £599.

The Libratone Live AirPlay speaker has an output of up to 150 Watts with five dedicated amplifiers. The speaker is said to create a “room-filling soundscape with the tweeters and midrange drivers dispersing 360-degree sound”.

Turtle Beach limited edition Modern Warfare 3 headsets

The headset above is one of four limited edition offerings from Turtle Beach and Activision. The headsets all have the same design style, but offer different specialties. There is the $300 Ear Force Delta which is based on the XP500 programmable virtual 7.1 headset and comes with a custom travel-case and MW3 sound presets.

Then there is the $150 Ear Force Bravo, which is a version of the PX3. It has the same presets as the Delta in wireless stereo. Next is the $130 Ear Force Charlie with discrete 5.1 and eight drivers. Lastly is the $100 Ear Force Foxtrot; a PX21 universal stereo headset. So you have your choice soldiers.
