New Sony “16.4-inch” laptop sports Intel Centrino 2

Sony late today unveiled the “world’s first 16.4-inch display.” It is more notable though for being one of the first notebooks powered by Intel’s new Centrino 2 technology. This laptop is the Sony VAIO FW Series and pricing ranges between $1,000 and $1,750.

The Sony VAIO FW Series is described by Sony as combining “the benefits of a slightly larger17-inch widescreen with the smaller ‘footprint’ of a 15.4-inch model.” Whether this makes much of a difference or not remains to be seen, but it does come with a nice load of technology features, including an integrated, optional Blu-ray Disc burner.

Dell Studio Line laptopsDell today launched the new “Studio” line of laptops following the trend of more consumers who would like a little more style and customization available for their portable computers. Kicking off the Studio laptops Dell launched the Dell Studio 15 and Dell Studio 17, which come with a 15.4″ and 17.1″ display, respectively.

Both notebooks carry the drop hinge and “wedge” shape seen in the XPS laptops from Dell and both come in a range of vibrant and loud colors, capacitve touchpad and multimedia buttons that light-up when pressed, and an optional backlit keyboard. They also have the option of built-in broadband connections through Sprint or Verizon, Blu-ray drive, slot-loading drives and you can even get a mercury-free LED display if you ask. Dell has put some thought to your laptop accessories as well, offering mice, backpacks, sleeves and earbuds that are colored to match.

Kensington ShareCentral 5Kensington seems to have been storing up on new product releases for notebook computers. The computer accessories maker yesterday unveiled some 24 new products across several notebook accessory related categories.

Highlights of this new product line up include a device for sharing USB devices between computers, wireless mice, notebook locks, column mount monitor arms and cases. We’ve provided more details on these new Kensington offerings via its press release after the jump.

Hewlett Packard, as you’ve probably noticed today, kicked out a ton of new digital products as part of a special coming out event. HP seemed to particularly go crazy in the laptop department, unveiling some 16 new notebook computers.

The rainbow of new HP laptops focuses across both consumer and business platforms. HP said in summary all of these notebooks are designed with new materials and software features that “enrich the user experience.” To get a general summary press release, check after the jump.

Everyone is different when it comes to what they like. That’s why there are so many laptops available with many different styles. Different strokes for different folks. The Advent K200 addresses our wide variety in tastes by offering removable face plates that can be changed. They are all sold seperately. If you get sick of one just buy another.

Maybe this week it’s butterflies, and next week it could be more of an arty look. The laptop itself has a 1.73 Dual Core processor, 2GB of Memory, a 100GB hard drive and a 15.4 inch screen. The face plates are a bit expensive at $40 each, so you may want a small wardrobe for this thing. . The laptop will cost you just under $800.

The folks at Sanrio never get tired of offering up new Hello Kitty items. I lost count at Two million and five. We really need to send a terminator back in time and take the kitty out once and for all. The latest is this Hello Kitty laptop, which is the Epson Endeavor NJ2100. The pearl white laptop comes in two varieties, one with Kitty flying an airplane and the other features Hello Kitty with flowers.

It’s powered by an Intel Celeron 540 at 1.86GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, DVD drive, Firewire, 3 in 1 memory card slot and a 15.4 inch WXGA screen with 1280 x 800 resolution. Of course, it comes preloaded with exclusive Hello Kitty wallpapers, screensavers and sounds. Sanrio is already taking orders for fans as the laptop goes on sale May 25 for $1470.

Five new business laptops available from Toshiba

Toshiba yesterday added five new models of laptops to its business line. These new notebooks have a starting price around $700 and are all part of the Satellite Pro family.

The new laptops, depending upon the model, feature 13.3-inch, 14.1-inch, 15.4-inch and 17-inch displays as well as Intel Core 2 Duo processors or AMD dual core processors. Availability of all models should be now and you can get a model by model breakdown after the jump.

Averatec out with new semi-rugged laptops

Averatec is making available some new “semi-rugged” notebook computers for folks who need something a little more durable as they compute on-the-go. The Averatec Voya 4473 and 6494 have a starting price of around $1,300.

The Voya 4473 is a 14.1″ standard notebook, while the larger Voya 6494 has 15.4″ widescreen display. Both have drop and vibration resistance in addition to a spill resistant keyboard and touchpad. They sport magnesium alloy outer cases, corner bumpers, and an anti-shock mounted hard drive specifically to help with the related issues.

Dell listens to customers with the Vostro 1310 & 1510

Dell Vostro 1310Business users are typically more demanding of their notebooks than normal consumers. Business users tend to want portability, power and pretty much everything else. The boss approving the orders wants all that stuff too, but at a cheap price.

Dell says it has listened to its business customers and delivered everything they want with its new Vostro 1310 and 1510 notebooks. The 1310 notebook has a 13.3-inch screen and the 1510 is a 15.4-inch notebook. Dell says that the 13.3-inch Vostro has 94% of the viewing area of the 14.1-inch Vostro, but weighs 20% less.

New MSI gaming laptop sports 45nm technology

MSI GX600-EnhancedMSI has bumped up the feature set on its GX600 gaming laptop to create a more powerful computing platform. This new laptop is known as the MSI GX600-Enhanced.

The MSI GX600-Enhanced now features Intel 45nm processing technology, 3GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive. It also sports the latest NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 3D graphic chipset, Windows Vista Home Premium, and a 15.4-inch WXGA+ display.

Asus unveils new 15.4-inch laptop

Asus M50Asus this week unveiled a new notebook computer with Blu-ray Disc playback ability. It is called the M50. There is not yet any specific pricing or availability.

The Asus M50 offers up a 15.4-inch display and your choice of several Intel processors including some Penryn ones. A variety of Windows Vista flavors are available as well as up to 500 GB of storage space, a hybrid TV tuner and a fingerprint scanner for security.

Dell XPS M1530Dell is out with word on the street today it’s introducing a cool, thin new XPS line laptop computer. The Dell XPS M1530 will hold a starting price of around $1,000.

The Dell XPS M1530 is a 15.4-inch widescreen notebook which weighs around six pounds and has a 1-inch profile. It comes with a variety of external touches like brushed aluminum accents, different body colors and touch-sensitive media buttons. You also get some add-in items like a built-in Web cam and fingerprint reader.

MSI releases “turbo” overclocked gaming laptop

MSI GX600MSI, a developer of high performance IT products, is out today with an overclocked gaming laptop. The new MSI GX600 is priced at around $1,500.

The MSI GX600 makes use of what MSI calls “Turbo Drive Engine (TDE) technology” to increase the speed of the CPU up to 20 percent by pressing a button. It comes outfitted with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 3D graphic card with 512MB VRAM and a 250GB hard drive.

Sony VAIO NRSony today introduced a new low-cost notebook line which keeps fashion in mind. The VAIO NR series has a starting price of around $750 and should be available starting next month.

The Sony VAIO NR series comes in three different colors, all sporting a 15.4-inch LCD display. Select models in this line have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Other features which can be found on this laptops, depending upon the model, include 802.11 wireless technology, DVD/CD burner and four USB ports.
