New Sony “16.4-inch” laptop sports Intel Centrino 2 |

Sony late today unveiled the “world’s first 16.4-inch display.” It is more notable though for being one of the first notebooks powered by Intel’s new Centrino 2 technology. This laptop is the Sony VAIO FW Series and pricing ranges between $1,000 and $1,750.
The Sony VAIO FW Series is described by Sony as combining “the benefits of a slightly larger17-inch widescreen with the smaller ‘footprint’ of a 15.4-inch model.” Whether this makes much of a difference or not remains to be seen, but it does come with a nice load of technology features, including an integrated, optional Blu-ray Disc burner.




Dell today launched the new “Studio” line of laptops following the trend of more consumers who would like a little more style and customization available for their portable computers. Kicking off the Studio laptops Dell launched the Dell Studio 15 and Dell Studio 17, which come with a 15.4″ and 17.1″ display, respectively.
Kensington seems to have been storing up on new product releases for notebook computers. The computer accessories maker yesterday unveiled some 24 new products across several notebook accessory related categories.





MSI has bumped up the feature set on its GX600 gaming laptop to create a more powerful computing platform. This new laptop is known as the MSI GX600-Enhanced.
Asus this week unveiled a new notebook computer with Blu-ray Disc playback ability. It is called the M50. There is not yet any specific pricing or availability.
Dell is out with word on the street today it’s introducing a cool, thin new XPS line laptop computer. The Dell XPS M1530 will hold a starting price of around $1,000.
MSI, a developer of high performance IT products, is out today with an overclocked gaming laptop. The new MSI GX600 is priced at around $1,500.
Sony today introduced a new low-cost notebook line which keeps fashion in mind. The VAIO NR series has a starting price of around $750 and should be available starting next month.
