1,400+ Playstation 2 consoles stolen in FloridaIt took place in Melbourne, Florida. A truck carrying over 1400 PlayStation 2 systems was been stolen today. After a long trip over the weekend, the driver slept overnight on Sunday and didn’t realize the truck was gone until he woke up on Monday morning.

Apparently, the thieves were smart enough to disable the truck’s GPS before leaving with the goods. The police and the trucking company apparently had no idea where it went. There’s nothing worse then a truck full of stolen game consoles. Why do they never think of the children? The poor 30+ year old children…Now what will they play?

BlackBerry Storm gets official

BlackBerry StormIt’s nearly impossible to keep new products from being leaked today for most manufacturers. BlackBerry is no exception. For a week or more now reports and details of the BlackBerry Storm have been popping up online touting the next potential iPhone challenger.

Today BlackBerry made the Storm official and announced that the exclusive U.S. carrier will be Verizon and the UK carrier will be Vodafone. The handset is designed to run on Verizon’s 3G network in the States. The Storm forgoes the familiar QWERTY keyboard most BlackBerry devices use in favor of an iPhone-like touchscreen.

wall-cube.jpgI don’t know about you, but here at the SlipperyBrick “command and control center” we like our video wall cubes for monitoring world affairs. We are therefore quite ready to lay down some serious change for the new VS-80PH40U from Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi says the VS-80PH40U is designed for “large command and control centers,” which makes us wonder how well it would fit in around our one-room shack out in the sticks. You get out of this massive video cube 80-inches of viewing pleasure via 1400 x 1050 resolution and a “proprietary, high-powered projection engine to provide 190 cd/m2 of brightness.”

Magellan RoadMate 1400 series GPS units feature a widescreen displayMagellan is showcasing a new line of RoadMate GPS units this week at CES that feature a widescreen display and optional traffic integration in the higher end models. The new 1400 series RoadMate models use a larger 4.3-inch widescreen touchscreen with three new models varying in features and price from $299 at the low end up to $399 with all the bells and whistles.

All the new models feature the widescreen view, 3D mapping, trip planner, QuickSpell for fast entering of addresses and an SD card slot for maps. The 1400, which is the $299 base model comes with maps of the continental US, Hawaii and Puerto Rico along with points of interest. Moving up to the RoadMate 1412, Magellan tacks on text-to-speech, maps of Canada and Alaska and another $150 to the price of the 1400.

CECT W100 Wrist WatchA common theme you see on gadget blogs like ours is cool tech found overseas which may or may not ever make it to America. A new example of this is the minimal geek looking CECT W100 Wrist Watch.

The CECT W100 Wrist Watch, designed by Qiao Xing Mobile Communication of China, is believed to be the first watch phone in that large Asian country. It comes in seven colors and sports a nice LCD touch screen with which to control its functions. Though no specifics were given by its designers about its phone network capabilities it was said the phone will come with 1GB of built-in memory and supports Bluetooth.
