Seagate passes WiFi-enabled GoFlex Satellite hard drive through the FCC

Posted in Seagate by Conner Flynn on May 15th, 2011

The latest gadget to pass through the FCC is the GoFlex Satellite hard drive from Seagate. Right now, if you want to add a network attached storage device to your network it is a time consuming process of connecting cables, finding a location for your drive near a router, and configuring your network. Seagate will make this process a whole lot easier with this device.

The device packs in 802.11 b/g/n WiFi capabilities, allowing you to add the Satellite to your network without stringing wires from your router to the drive. This also means you can put the Satellite anywhere you have network access. Nothing on pricing or release yet.

Square Enix gets hacked

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on May 15th, 2011

Sony isn’t the only company to get hacked. The makers of Final Fantasy, Square Enix, has just been hacked as well. A few of their websites have been compromised and the company confirmed that the e-mail addresses of up to 25,000 customers who had registered for product updates may have been stolen.

Also, resumes of 350 people applying for jobs in its Canadian office could also have been copied from the web servers. They immediately took the sites offline to assess how it happened and what had been accessed, then they took the necessary measures to increase security of all of their websites, before going live again.

PSN back online for developers

Posted in PS3 by Reuben Drake on May 13th, 2011

Looks like PSN has begun to come back online, but access is currently restricted to developers, and it’s still very sporadic. It has been confirmed with several developers that access is now available.

We hope that this means it will be only days until the rest of us are online, but the only date we have heard is the end of this month when Sony says things should be working again. Now it looks like it could be as soon as next week if this information is correct.

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on May 10th, 2011

Could this be Apple’s next iPod nano? Taiwan’s Apple.pro website thinks so and since they also recently got their hands on a purported next-gen iPod nano chassis that seems to match the device pictured above, it looks likely.

The obvious change is the built-in camera, which is apparently 1.3 megapixels. Take this with the usual grain of salt for now, as we don’t have any confirmation, but it is looking like this is the real deal. We will know for sure before long.

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on May 5th, 2011

Check this out. Somebody has a split personality. This knock-off NGP is called the iReadyGo RG. It’s a rip off of Sony’s upcoming handheld with the same 5-inch touchscreen, however it has some identity problems. The detailing is clearly inspired by the Xbox 360.

Apparently it will also have Android too, since iReadyGo is looking for six senior Android developers. No word on pricing or availability yet, but we will just wait for the real deal.

The new game is called Angry Birds: Anger Management and gameplay has changed a bit. Now they sit in an anger management class and talk about their issues. Okay, I made that up. But the game is coming to RIM’s tablet.

We don’t know if Rovio Mobile will be launching a paid version of Angry Birds for the PlayBook, or whether it will be a free version supported by ads. We do know that this game is a massive hit and you will likely buy/download it.
