Geek your ride with the Star Trek air horn

If playing with your Star Trek putter on the golf course isn’t enough for you, or if you’re tired of waiting for the sweet geek release of death to enjoy your Star Trek coffin, then geek out your vehicle with the Wolo 485 Star Trek Air Horn.

You’ll have 5 air trumpets playing the most recognizable notes of the Star Trek theme at the touch of a button, and with 118 decibels of power. It wires directly to your battery to replace your existing car horn. The set includes a 12 volt compressor and impact-resistant plastic trumpets, tubing, relay, mounting hardware and instructions. It’s powered through your vehicle’s 12 volt cigarette lighter. Your inner geek will be happy, but don’t expect to win over the ladies with this one. You know, unless they are the sort that dress up like Klingons and attend all the conventions. In that case…Score!

Intelliworks Energy Saver saves you money

Intelliworks Energy Saver saves you money

With all of these gadgets and electronics, not to mention Christmas lights, your electric bill is probably killing you one watt at a time. The Intelliworks Energy Saver feels your pain and can apparently cut your electricity bill by up to 50%. It uses state of the art technology to ‘optimize the voltage’, by acting as a sort of traffic cop for electricity.

The device automatically optimizes the voltage and current demands so that the end result is less energy consumed by you. They claim that users in cities will save about 14%, while those in rural areas will save even more. Possibly up to 50%. It sounds too good to be true, I know, but that’s not the only benefit. The life of your appliances can be extended, since the voltage is stabilized during momentary power surges. Just plug it into any wall socket and start counting your extra money every month. That’s it.

Glow in the dark paint

Posted in Paint by Chetz on December 12th, 2007

Litrospheres paint glows in the darkLitrospheres are a self-luminous micro-particle that can be painted on any object allowing it to glow without the need of any electric current. The paint was designed by MPK and is said to be non-toxic even though the betavoltaic technology that’s used for Litrospheres is derived from a radioactive gas (the company rep says that the radiation can’t escape from the paint molecules so you don’t need to worry about glowing yourself.)

It can be produced in a variety of colors. Do you want blue walls that glow? Done. Some pink trim on your house so you can see it off in the distance when night falls? Not a problem but your neighbors may think otherwise. If you think about it the practical applications extend a lot further than tripping out your bike or car. Liferafts, safety vests, hazard signs, even the lines on the road could be painted using Litrospheres and be more easily seen at night.

Solar powered Bible speaks

Solar powered Bible speaks

No, you won’t hear the biblical voice of NRA spokesman Chuck Heston or Ned Flanders for that matter, but this solar powered Bible will read the entire bible to you. In a human voice no less. If God had waited a few centuries to give Moses the 10 commandments, instead of stone tablets, they would have looked like this device. But I digress.

You can jump from book to book, or chapter to chapter just by pressing a button. You will never be without the good book again. It gives you 10 hours of preachiness when fully charged and recharges via the sun, a lamp, or a 9 volt DC adapter. It’s only 4 1/2″ x 2″ x 1″ thick. I don’t know if it will get you into heaven, but let’s face it, it can’t hurt. We all have to score points with the big guy.

Kloss DeLightablesNeed to funk up your living room or are you looking for a novelty to attract customers to your cafe? Consider purchasing one of Kloss’ DeLighTables and adding to your selection of furniture. Your guests will be able to regress back to the days when they made art with fingerpaint as the table’s pressure sensitive surface glows when the slightest touch is felt. The company is now manufacturing both side tables as well as coffee tables with the light panels only 20 mm thin. Set a drink on top of the table and watch as an unearthly glow emanates from the bottom before you can finish saying “Bacardi Breezer”.

The electrical system for the DeLighTable runs off of 12 volts and it’s completely waterproof. I can see bar and club patrons going gaga over one of these while trying to play pick-up artist but it could also be a lot of fun in your own den. Finger races anyone?

Motion activated lawn sprinkler

Posted in Outdoors by Reuben Drake on October 14th, 2007

motion activated sprinkler turns on the water when it senses movementThis potentially devious lawn sprinkler is configured with an inline valve that has a motion sensitive trigger which goes off and sends a quick stream of water without warning whenever it sees movement in its 105 degree field of view. It comes with a stake to mount it in the ground and can connect to a standard garden hose, running off a single 9-volt battery which gives it from four to six months of water-armed sentry activity.

The supposed purpose of the motion activated sprinkler is to chase off pesky rodents and birds from the area scaring them with a sudden spray of water. It would also work well to keep unwanted wandering pets out of your yard, but my first thought with this was the fun you could have with neighborhood kids passing by.
