Posted in Outdoors by Conner Flynn on June 24th, 2009

Create your own bike lane with LightLaneRemember Lightlane? Lightlane was a pretty neat concept for bicyclists. Well, it seems that the response that the concept got was so overwhelming from bicyclists the world over, that the inventors actually decided to now make it into a commercial product.

It uses “super-bright red LEDs,” as well as two high visibility Diode-Pumped Solid State green lasers to project a path that should help to protect bikers on the street. The end result is that the biker and their path are clearly visible to those driving by.

Pioneer unveils slick in-dash GPS head unit

Posted in Pioneer Electronics by Shane McGlaun on June 15th, 2009

pioneeravic_z110bt-sbPioneer has made some of the coolest car and home stereos around for a long time. When I was a kid, my day bought a new Pioneer stereo that cost him $500, which was big money back in the day. I promptly broke the turntable trying to scratch and spent a week or so being grounded. Ah, the good old days.

Pioneer is a bigger name in home theater and in-car electronics than home stereos today. The company has announced a slick new double DIN head unit that is the top-of-the-line the company offers. The Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT has a 7-inch motorized touchscreen that covers up the CD/DVD player and radio.

Voltron transforms into a working cameraThis transforming Voltron is awesome. A) It’s Voltron. B)It transforms into a working camera. and C) See A and B. This transforming Voltron action figure actually shoots 110 film. Apparently it was sold in the 1980s by Impulse Ltd.

Not that that helps us get one in the here and now. Few things in life are this awesome. Now, we are on a mission to find one. This is way cooler then that time my Qosmio notebook turned into a Transformer.

Samsung Crest E1107 Solar Cellphone only $59

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on June 11th, 2009

Samsung Crest E1107 Solar Cellphone only $59Samsung has announced it’s first solar powered GSM cellphone, the Crest E1107. It’s for eco-friendly, budget conscious types who want to harness the power of the sun. Supposedly, the Crest can generate enough power for 5-10 minutes of talk time with one hour of sun exposure.

I don’t know about you, but I associate the name Crest with toothpaste, so I’m a tad disappointed that this thing can’t power your spin-brush too. It has some basic additional features like an FM radio, MP3 ringers, fake call feature to avoid unwanted calls. Even a flashlight. Yet nothing to brush your teeth.
