Sony has added some new modules for compatible BRAVIA HDTVs which bring new features to the televisions. These join the already available Internet Video Link module currently priced around $300.

The three new modules let you wirelessly transmit high-definition video (up to 1080i) and audio, play DVDs and add additional HDMI inputs. You can get full details after the jump.

Meridian Audio is unveiling a serious new video projector and scaler which will definitely set you back a pretty penny or two. It is called the Meridian 810 Reference Video System and pricing is set around $185,000.

The Meridian 810 Reference Video System includes one serious projector capable of 4096 x 2400 pixels, or 10 megapixels, of display capability. That might not seem light much unless you consider, said Meridian, that a regular HDTV image at 1080i represents just 1 megapixel, while full-spec HD (1080p) is still only twice that. It also can deliver up to 4000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 10000:1.

Onkyo yesterday made some new product annoucements associated with mid-year releases. These new products include two mid-price home theater receivers and two packaged home theater systems. The Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver is now available around $900.  HT-S7100 and HT-S6100 systems are also currently available around $900 and $800 respectively. The TX-SR806 will price around $1,100, and it will be shipping in mid August.

Highlights of this new gear include both receivers being THX certified and including the new THX Loudness Plus audio processing technology for improved low-volume-level listening and the home theater systems being seven-channel. You can get full details after the jump.

We haven’t heard from cheap flat panel CE company VIZIO much since CES earlier this year. The company is back though in the news today with some new HDTVs, priced at between around $1,500 and $1,900.

The new models in the company’s XVT series are the SV420XVT, SV47XVT and VP505XVT. Key features include Silicon Optix REON HQV processing, 30,000:1 contrast Ratio, 1200 nits brightness and 5.1 virtual surround sound. JVC offered up earlier this week for consumer consumption some new high definition hard disk camcorders which deliver 1920×1080 recording. These are the JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5, priced at around $1,400 and $1,200 respectively.

The JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5 can record up to 10 hours or 5 hours respectively of “full HD 1920 x 1080 MPEG2 Transport Stream video with MPEG 1 Layer 2 audio.” They use three 1/5-inch CCDs to accomplish this, also featuring an F1.8-F1.9 10x zoom lens and 1080 progressive 60fps HDMI output.

VIZIO, that upstart HDTV brand you see for sale at Costco-like places, is dropping the LCD hammer big time at CES as it reveals lots of new HDTVs. One new line up of flat panel displays is the “Black Tie” series.

The VIZIO “Black Tie” series includes 42 and 47-inch displays. It is noted by VIZIO for having “120Hz processing with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), a side access HD game port and full 1080p resolution.”

You ever notice there’s always a “smallest and lightest” something or rather being announced by CE manufacturers? The newest gadget to fall into this category is the Sanyo Xacti HD1000, the “world’s smallest and lightest full HD digital camcorder.”

The Sanyo Xacti HD1000, priced at around $800 and due out in September, weighs 9.5 ounces and has a total volume of 16.6 cubic inches. It’s capable of full 1080i HD video recorded in the AVC/H.264 standard and sports a 2.7-inch widescreen display. Sanyo is also proud of this camcorder’s hardware and software interface for file saving and television playback.

JVC rolls out its new Everio GZ-HD7 camcorder next month, giving the public the opportunity to purchase the first full high definition video recorder on the market.

Capable of recording images up to 1920 x 1080i at 30Mbps, the cam also includes a 60 GB hard drive which will give you about five hours of HD recording time. Colors are captured using three 1/5-inch CCDs for reds, greens and blues, using 16:9 progressive scan and pixel shift technology. The camera also comes with a broadcast quality Fujinon lens.

Panasonic has come out with the latest in small AVCHD camcorders which will record High-Def video. The video is recorded onto a 4GB SDHC memory card that can hold between 40 and 90 minutes of video depending on the Mbps that the video is recorded at, and it has a battery that allows continuous recording for up to 65 minutes.

Using the 3CCD sensor the HDC-SD1 camcorder can record in full HD 1080i (1920 x 1080) and provide digital and optical zoom at 12X and 30X, respectively. …
