Samsung unveils new monitors for PC with TV tuners

samsung933hd-sgI like it when my electronic gear can serve more than one purpose. My iPhone can act as a MP3 player and a MID in addition to making calls and I would like it if my normal monitor could do other tasks as well. Samsung has announced a pair of new LCDs called the 933HD and the 2333HD that work for your computer and work as normal TVs too.

The 933HD is a 19-inch unit selling for $249.99. The 2333HD is a 23-inch unit selling for $329.99. Both displays have integrated TV tuners, 10000:1 contrast ratio, and 5ms response times. Both of the screens also have stereo speakers.

JVC unveils new PICSIO GC-FM1 camcorder

jvcpicso-sgJVC announced a new camcorder today that we have heard about before called the Picsio GC-FM1. The camcorder is aimed directly at the folks who like an easy to use camcorder that can upload directly to YouTube and other video sharing sites online.

The camera can record full 1080p HD video resolution with 4x digital zoom. The cam can also snap 8MP still shots and comes in three colors including black ice, blue steel, and purple passion. The back of the camera is a geometric pattern that looks like the shiny side of those metallic stickers.

Toshiba unveils first Cell-powered Regza LCD TVToshiba has another first on their hands with the 55-inch Cell Regza 55X1, the first LCD HDTV to be equipped with a Cell chip. The 55X1 offers a peak luminance of 1250 cd/m2, LED backlighting, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 240Hz scanning, and Super Resolution technology which makes use of Cell power for greater image quality.

Some other features include a 7-speaker sound bar, DLNA support, an internet browser from Opera Software, HDMI and USB, and an SD card slot. You also get a ‘tuner box’ with 3TB of storage space, 2TB of that will be devoted to the “time-shift machine” feature, which can simultaneously record up to 26 hours of programming on up to eight channels.

This latest model is powered by a 2GHz Core i7 920XM processor with a 15-inch full HD LCD display (1920 x 1080), 1GB nVidia GeForce GTX 260M graphics with up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a 500GB SATA hard drive or a 256GB SSD.

Some other specs include a Blu-ray burner, 9-cell battery, and even an optional TV tuner. The Alienware Core i7 M15x laptop in the basic configuration will retail for $1,499. Get one and do some serious gaming.

LG unveils two wireless HDTVs

lgwirelsshdtvThe worst thing about home theater gear and HDTVs is that there are lots of wires. Wires don’t look good and if your wife is a wire hater like mine, you end up catching lots of grief. LG has announced a couple new HDTVs that are wireless.

The two new sets include the LG 55LHX and the LH85. The TVs use a media box to transmit uncompressed full 1080p signals with “virtually” no interference directly to the TV. The TV can pick up the wireless signals from up to 30 feet away.

InFocus offers ScreenPlay 8602 projector

infocus8602-sbI really want to replace the TV in my living room with a projector so I can get a huge 300-inch image at a price that is affordable. My 50-inch plasma looks good, but when I watch Pinks All Out, I want the cars to be life size.

InFocus has announced a new projector that can throw an image 300-inches onto a wall or screen. The Projector is the SP8602 and it offers 1080p native resolution and a 30,000:1 contrast ratio. Brightness for the projector is 1300 lumens.

Vizio nabs top LCD HDTV shipper status

The numbers for LCD TV shipments for Q2 2009 are in and Vizio has grabbed the top spot again in U.S. LCD TV shipment. The firm is tops in the 21.5 to 24-inch, 26-inch, 32-inch, and 37-inch panel size and leads in year over year growth for 40-inch and over 1080p sets.

The TGL 2000A (20-inch), TGL 2250A (21.6-inch), TGL 2300A (23-inch) and TGL 2400A (23.6-inch). These LCD monitors feature a built-in digital TV tuner, 16:9 aspect ratio, 2ms response time, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, integrated speakers, and DVI and HDMI connectors.

The 2250A, 2300A and 2400A all have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while the 2000A offers a resolution of 720p. The 23.6-inch TGL 2400A should hit stores for the price of $362.

Both feature Panasonic’s latest neoPDP panel technology with a contrast ratio of 40,000:1, along with the usual VIERACast streaming media and internet widgets. Both also feature an SD/SDHC card slot so you can play back video, pictures and music, even AVCHD footage directly from an HD camcorder.

There’s also 1080/24p Full HD support, plus a virtual 5.1 surround sound system. It also sports a cool CCTV feature that integrates with up to four different wireless security cameras.

HP 2709m LCD display announcedHP announced a brand new display yesterday. The 2709m is the largest LCD for the mainstream computer market. At 27-inches, it features 1080p and can be used as a TV as well if you like. It sports an HDMI input as well as VGA and DVI, so you can hook up all of your DVD players etc.

Other features include tilting for viewing angles and a built-in 4-watt speaker system. You can get the HP 2709m LCD display starting today for about $500 on the company’s site. The 2709m also sports a dynamic contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and an anti-glare coating, so you can expect a bright colorful picture.

The 17-inch V173Bbm features a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250cd/m2 brightness, 160/160 degrees viewing angle, 1W +1 W built-in stereo speakers and low power consumption.(14W)

ASUS announces T1 Series TV MonitorsASUS has announced a new range of TV monitors, the T1 series. Available in 21.5-inch, 23.6-inch and 27-inch versions, the T1s offer a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 20,000:1 contrast ratio and a built-in TV tuner for both digital and analog signals.

The T1 series also features 7W speakers and multiple connectors including two HDMI, two SCART, a D-Sub, Composite, Component, S-Video, an audio-in, a S/PDIF out, an audio out and an earphone out. The T1 monitors should be launched soon.
