MSI WindPad 110 with Tegra 2 and Android hides in the shadows

Posted in MSI by Shane McGlaun on May 31st, 2010

I just mentioned that the WindPad 100 from MSI was shown off at Computex today. The 100 was unveiled at the MSI press conference, but its Tegra 2 and Android sibling was not so lucky.

The WindPad 110 was left slinking around the MSI booth without much fanfare. The 110 is the more interesting of the two tablets to me. It has the same 10-inch capacitive touchscreen as the 100 but uses the Tegra 2 platform from NVIDIA.

Intel to let Atom N550 CPU be used in machines with up to 12.1-inch screen

Posted in Intel by Shane McGlaun on May 19th, 2010

Intel has always been worried that the robust sales and popularity of the Atom line of CPUs would draw buyers away from its more profitable and powerful CPUs. This fear lead to the Atom processors getting a screen size limit of 10.2-inches.

DigiTimes reports that Intel is lifting that screen size limitation on the new Atom N550. The N550 is a dual-core CPU set for release in the second half of the year.

Furry Wampa Rug

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on May 17th, 2010

I don’t know about you, but I find animal rugs with the head attached to be very disturbing decor. Unless it’s a Wampa of course. As you can see by the image above, it’s great for lounging around on a winter’s night by the fire, with your slave Leia.

The 62 x 30-inch rug is made of synthetic fur and has a non-slip backing. Only $100. Slave Leia not included. Sadly. Besides, that would be mixing movies. No respectable geek would mix an ESB creature with a ROJ Leia outfit. The rest of us don’t mind.

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on May 4th, 2010

The M003 Apad, a.k.a. iRobot, is a 7-inch, Android-OS iPad clone that costs $199.99 and is now available for shipping. The Apad supports Google Maps, HD video support and even has an integrated integrated webcam. There’s also 2GB of built-in storage though SD cards are supported.

Something tells me that this device won’t sell over a million in it’s first month, though many would buy this one just to get an iPad alternative.
