The iPad is all the rage at a private school in Knoxville, TN, where all students from fourth to 12th grade will now be required to carry iPads starting this August. Hey, it beats a backpack full of spine twisting books. The students can either provide their own tablet or lease a WiFi-only model for $20 a month.

Webb School hopes that the iPad will eventually replace traditional textbooks. We aren’t sure how effective an iPad only classroom can be, but I guess we will all find out soon enough.

Remember Google’s Cr-48 Chrome notebook? Maybe you thought that the notebook looked too much like every other notebook out there. Well, fear not. Google has come up with a cheap gimmick to make it stand out from the pack.

Looks like the notebook is shipping with stickers that you can put on it. They are very colorful and obviously Chrome themed. The one above looks really nice. Maybe this will start a new trend of colorful laptop lids from manufacturers if they all start shipping stickers.

Last week the App Store hit its 10 billionth download and Apple was to give the person who downloaded the 10 billionth app a $10,000 gift card. The lucky downloader of that 10 billionth app was Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK. She is a very lucky woman.

But when an Apple rep called Davis and started telling her that she had won, she hung up thinking that it was a prank. “I thought it was a prank call. I said, ‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up.” But her kids told her that it was for real and luckily the Apple rep called back again. That was a close one. Her kids would have never forgiven her.

Do you like the idea of paying for things by using your phone? What about coffee? Well, Starbucks has announced that its mobile payment test has concluded and that the service is now available in all stores around the country.

This means that you can now pay for your coffee if you use the iPhone or a Blackberry, using the official Starbucks App. The app can be funded using either your credit card or PayPal. Once your jittery coffee fueled hands get money in your app account, all you need to do is place your order and then hold your device with the barcode on the screen under the scanner at the counter. Pretty convenient no?

Asus has another new netbook with the launch of the Eee PC Sirocco 1015PW netbook. It is basically a 1015PW netbook with a new textured paint job to make it look cooler. It comes with a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, and your choice of either a 320GB or 250GB hard drive.

Some other features include a 10 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, Bluetooth 3.0 and integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. Sadly, there are no details on pricing or availability yet.

Transcend has unveiled the 3.5″ StoreJet35T3 with the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface. This device will hold about 2TB of storage space and is capable of transferring data up to 130MB/s. That means that it will transfer a whole DVD movie in just 30 seconds.

Some other features include a One Touch auto-backup button and it meets the European Union’s eco-design requirements for Energy Related Products (ErP), while entering power-saving sleep mode automatically after ten minutes of inactivity.

All-in-one computers are everywhere these days. They look nice, but often they sacrifice power and upgradability for that slim design. NextComputing’s Radius computers take a different approach. They don’t look as nice, and they’re portable in the same way that a cinderblock can be carried from place to place. And they can be as powerful as any standard desktop PC.

Basically, they’ve just stuck a monitor and a handle on the tower. The integrated display is a 17″ LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200. There is also an additional clip-on display available, as well as a touchscreen. Some features include quad-core Intel Core i7 and Xeon CPUs, as well as the 3.33GHz hexa-core Intel Core i7 CPU, and AMD’s Phenom II X4 CPUs. It can be equipped with up to 24GB of DDR3 RAM, and up to 9TB worth of non-hot swappable hard drives, or two hot-swappable drives up to 500GB each.

3D is still the in thing for manufacturers and now Fujitsu Japan is planning to offer another 3D item. The ESPRIMO FH/99CM desktop computer features a naked-eye 3D display, with the screen measuring in at 23-inches and it supports Full HD resolutions.

It should be available over in Japan starting February 25th for $3,100. Some specs include: A Blu-ray drive (3D Blu-ray support), Core i7-2630QM (2.00GHz) CPU, Intel H65 Express chip set, 4GB memory, 2TB HDD, IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, 2x USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports and Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit).

Wouldn’t you like to “future proof” your gadgets? Sure, we all would. And now we can, thanks to Best Buy’s Buy Back program. It will allow users to trade in their laptops, netbooks, tablets or smartphones for a percentage of the device’s original value. The company calls it “future proofing”. We call it, getting something for your old gadget, instead of just tossing it and getting nothing.

The Buy Back Program will start later this month and will cost $69.99 for laptops, netbooks and tablets. It’s $59.99 for mobile phones. When your device is covered, Best Buy will purchase the product back anytime within two years and you may receive up to 50 percent of the product’s original purchase price, paid back to you in the form of a Best Buy gift card, valid for six months.

Acer has announced its latest Predator Series gaming rig, the AG3600. This beast looks great. Some of the specs include a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 2300 CPU, with Intel’s H67 chipset and Turbo Boost 2.0, discrete NVIDIA GeForece GT 420 graphics, 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM, and a 1.5TB SATA hard drive.

Aside from that it also packs in a multicard reader, three PCI Express x1 slots, 10 USB 2.0 ports, three audio ins, mini HDMI, DVI and a D-SUB port. And you can get it fast since the Predator AG3600 is available now for around $899.

Crayola and Griffin have teamed up to create a new coloring experience for artists, whether young or older. They have basically taken the wax crayon into the digital age. The ColorStudio HD iPad app lets you color and interact with animated coloring book pages that move and react as you are coloring them. It combines photos and user created pictures with animations, music, sound effects, and other special effects.

The iMarker digital stylus can be used as a marker, crayon, pen, or even a paintbrush and works with the iPad’s multi-touch display. Kids will have a lot of fun with this one.

Buffalo is launching three new USB 3.0 DriveStation storage devices: The DriveStation Axis, DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad. The last two are RAID devices that are aimed at small businesses and professionals, who will find them useful because it can use several hard disks to speed up storage performance or increase the safety or your data.

The maximum transfer speed of the DriveStation Quad is 235MB/s and it supports up to 8TB of storage, while the DriveStation Duo is 225MB/sec. Of course, all the drives are still compatible with USB 2.0.

This is a great move by Netflix. The company has announced that it has partnered up with several manufactures to add a Netflix button to TV, Blu-ray and media streaming device controllers. Starting this Spring, buttons that say “Netflix” including some featuring the red Netflix logo will be added to device remote controls.

The list of manufacturers that Netflix has made a deal with is impressive. The list for Blu-ray player remotes includes, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, Haier and Best Buy’s Dynex brand. Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba will place the Netflix one-click button on remote controls for some new Internet-connected TVs as well and Boxee, Iomega and Roku STBs will get Netflix buttons on their remotes.

Looks like Dell will be launching a new Latitude 2120 netbook at CES next week. The 2120 is said to have specs identical to the previous 2110, but it packs double the power thanks to a dual core N550 processor. It features 3 and 6 cell battery options, a 10.1 inch display (with an optional touchscreen), 1 to 2GB of RAM, USB, Ethernet, and VGA ports.

The other interesting news about this latest Latitude is that it gets an optional Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator. There’s no info about price or availability just yet though.

ASUS teased us by revealing more about its upcoming Eee Pad line of tablet computers in a video featuring Chairman Jonney Shih. And i do mean teased. The company tweeted a link to the video, but it has since been removed from YouTube. The video confirmed some of the specs for the 12-inch EP121 and 10-inch EP101.

There was also another 10-inch tablet shown with a sliding keyboard, called the EP102. The video also teased us with a first glimpse of a smaller tablet called the EP71, of which we have no details.
