Sony S Series Notebooks Get Core i5 And i7 Processors

Sony has updated its Vaio S Series notebooks with Intel’s latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors, for a performance boost. It now also comes with an optional battery which Sony says will give you up to 15 hours of battery life. If true, that is pretty sweet.

The Sony Vaio S Series features a 13.3 inch display, and your choice of two Intel Core i5 processor and one Intel Core i7 processor, plus 4GB of RAM standard with the option to upgrade to 8GB. There’s also your choice of hard drives from 320GB up to 750GB or Solid State Drives from 256GB up to 1TB (with 2 x 512GB).

Samsung AF315 All-in-One PC

Samsung’s new AF315 All-in-One PC features a large 23-inch LCD along with Samsung’s switchable active shutter 2D / 3D technology and a thin 11-mm bezel. Aside from that, it packs a Core i5 CPU, 1TB 7200RPM hard disk and USB 3.0.

There’s also a TV receiver, Blu-ray player, remote control, 3D glasses, and a wireless keyboard and mouse combo. It ships in South Korea tomorrow for 2.19 million won or about $2,000. Apparently it is aimed at well dressed business woman types.

Toshiba STOR.E Edition USB 3.0 External Hard Drives

Toshiba has a new line of USB 3.0 external hard drives in the STOR.E Edition. They are available in three different storage capacities: 500GB, 750GB and 1TB.

The plug and play hard drives feature different colors and a casing that has a grooved texture, a USB 3.0 connection interface and they come pre-loaded with Nero BackItUp & Burn Essentials software. Nothing on pricing and release date yet though.

Logitec Master Series of Japan USB 3.0 External HDD

Logitec Japan has unveiled their latest version of the “Master Series of Japan” external HDDs. They are available in 1TB, 2TB, or 3TB storage capacities and these external HDDs now support the high speed USB 3.0 interface.

These storage devices are also compatible with both Mac and Windows systems. If you are in Japan you can buy the Logitec “Master Series of Japan” external HDD series right now for between 8,980 Yen ($109) to 24,800 Yen ($303).

Lenovo IdeaCentre B520 All-In-One Desktop PC Available Soon

Lenovo now has the new IdeaCentre B520 all-in-one desktop PC listed on their product page as ‘Coming Soon’. Hopefully they really mean it as in very soon. This All-In-One features a 23-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD frameless display with optional 3D Vision support.

Other features include a 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor, Intel HD 3000 integrated or NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics, up to 16GB DDR3 RAM, up to a 2TB hard drive, a 32GB SSD, a High-Sense webcam, DVD/Blu-ray drive, a 7-in-1 card reader, integrated TV tuner, WiFi, Bluetooth, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and it comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

Toshiba 3D Optional Qosmio X770 gaming laptop

Toshiba has announced the new X770 Qosmio gaming laptop. This one has a more metallic enclosure compared to it’s predecessor and shrinks the display from 18.4 inches to 17.3 inches (1920 x 1080), which is obviously easier to carry around.

The standard configuration gives you a Core i7-2630QM processor, 8GB of RAM, 1.25TB of storage from a pair of hard drives, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M graphics. You can also get a separate X770 3D model, which sports a 3D webcam and gives you a pair of active shutter glasses. Both will be available in the next few weeks, starting at €1,300 ($1,850).

Fujitsu Esprimo FH56/DD All-in-one PC

Fujitsu has a new family member in its Esprimo FH all-in-one PC series. The Fujitsu FH56/DD features a 20-inch LCD display, a built-in TV tuner and built-in Onkyo speakers. In short it should deliver an amazing multimedia experience.

Other features include Intel Core i5-2520M processors (2.50-3.20GHz), 4GB DDR3 memory, 2TB of storage, a Blu-ray burner, Intel HD Graphics 3000, a 1.3MP webcam, a media card reader, LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 OS.

ASUS Ships Eee PC 1015PX Netbook

For those of you who have been waiting for the arrival of the ASUS Eee PC 1015PX Netbook, we have some good news. Asus has now started shipping their new netbook and it is now available to purchase. To refresh your memory, the new ASUS Eee PC 1015PX is powered by an Intel Atom N570 Dual Core Processor 1.66Ghz, and has 1 GB DDR3 SODIMM memory, which can be increased up to 2 GB.

There’s also a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 screen and it runs Windows 7 Starter edition. There are two versions of the netbook: the 1015PX-PU17 with a 56W/h battery providing “up to 11 hours” of battery life and the 1015PX-MU17 with a 48W/h unit for maximal “10 hours” of battery life.

Seagate to ship 3TB HDD soon

HDD barriers are breaking left and right. The latest innovation comes from Seagate, breaking the 1TB density barrier. Seagate will soon be offering the world’s first 3TB hard disk drive. Today, this size is more important than ever, with all of our images and downloads etc.

This 3.5” HDD for desktop PCs will help insure that you have plenty of space. The new HDD uses three platters. For now, Seagate hasn’t mentioned a shipping-date. The price is also unknown, but we should have some more info soon.

Samsung Sliding PC 7 now available for pre-order for $649

Remember the Samsung Sliding PC 7 from earlier this year? It’s a Windows 7 tablet computer with a slide out QWERTY keyboard, giving you the best of both worlds with something between a tablet and a netbook.

The Samsung Sliding PC 7 is now on Amazon for pre-order for $649, though we don’t know when it will actually ship. Some features include a 10.1 inch 1366 x 768-resolution touchscreen tablet plus a full slide out keyboard, and it runs Microsoft Windows 7 and has an Intel Atom Z670 CPU.

I-O Data HDCA-UT3.0K 3TB External HDD

I-O Data has launched the I-O Data HDCA-UT3.0K external HDD. This storage device delivers 3TB of storage space and a USB 3.0 port, which is backwards compatible with the USB 2.0 interface we all know and love.

It is also compatible with Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS. Probably the most interesting feature is that it can also be used to record TV shows if you have a TV with a USB HDD recording mode. The new I-O Data HDCA-UT3.0K 3TB external HDD will cost you 27,720 Yen (or $314).

Acer Aspire Z5763 all-in-one with 3D screen, gesture control

The Acer Aspire Z5763 is ready to pump out stereoscopic 3D images to NVIDIA 3D Vision specs, and it also uses its 2 megapixel webcam for a Kinect-like gesture recognition system that Acer calls “AirControl.” So, even though it looks like your typical All-in-one, it is clearly not. Soon you’ll be navigating through movie lists with simple gestures.

It features a 23-inch, 120Hz LCD screen that displays content at 1080p, Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 or 435M graphics, a Blu-ray drive, up to 2TB of storage and 16GB of DDR3 memory. It also has built-in stereo speakers with virtual surround sound to go with your 3D, and an optional TV tuner.

Sony Vaio Slider tablet and ultra-thin notebook teased

At the end of yesterday’s Sony presentation of the S1 and S2 Android tablets, a few slides were displayed showing off a couple more new Sony products, Namely, the “Ultra Mobile” PC and the “Freestyle Hybrid” PC.

The Ultra Mobile PC clearly looks like it is at least a 13-incher or over, while the Freestyle Hybrid PC was rumored as the Sony Vaio Slider, which was said to have a 9.4-inch display, Pine Trail Atom processor and Windows 7 and is due out in the fall, possibly October for $799. Unfortunately, we have no details on these guys yet.

Dr. Cool Router Cooler

This device keeps your router cool, while making it look dorky. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a problem with my router overheating. This new device comes from Evercool and is called Dr. Cool. It is apparently the first patented router cooler ever. Not that anyone needs one.

It cools more than just routers too. If your router is fine, this device will also cool other gadgets like your netbook or your tablet. And make them look just as dorky. The clamps are adjustable and will grab onto your gadget like a huge white parasite. Who wants one?

Mitsubishi Electric launches three new BDXL Blu-Ray Recorders

Mitsubishi Electric has launched a trio of new Blu-ray recorders, the DVR-BZ450, DVR-BZ350 and DVR-BZ250. All three models have the same specifications, with 3D Blu-Ray, BDXL Support, AVCREC, two digital TV tuners, and VoD support.

They come with a dual face remote. One face lets you control your TV and another lets you control your recorder. The models differ with how much storage capacity they offer. The first has 2TB, the second has 1TB and the last has just 500GB.
