Good news for Twitter users who also use a Blackberry. Twitter for BlackBerry version 2 Beta is now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. Posted in Nintendo by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2011

Nintendo knows all about supply and demand and how to work the system. There is high demand for Nintendo’s games, so much so that often times third-party game sales on Nintendo’s consoles suffer at the hands of first-party titles.

Nintendo, in a move to avoid hurting it’s third party titles, has decided that they will only decide on the dates of popular first party releases after they know the release plans of other companies’ games. That has to be good news to third party developers.

Last typewriter maker shuts down

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on April 27th, 2011

Even though it took awhile, it now seems that the typewriter’s days are officially numbered. Godrej & Boyce closed down the last manufacturing plant of typewriters in the world on Wednesday. In the world! The factory was based in Mumbai, India.

As you may have noticed, the device has been replaced by computers, printers, tablets and keyboards. I’m surprised the old guy lasted this long. Even until 2009, the factory still produced between 10,000 to 12,000 typewriters per year. The demand now? About 800.

Nintendo sells 3.61 million 3DS handhelds

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Reuben Drake on April 25th, 2011

There’s good news and there’s bad news for the big N. Nintendo’s net sales of $12.4 billion for the period ending on March 31st 2011 was 29 percent less than during the previous year. Also its $825 million of net profit was 66 percent lower than it earned last year. Things are not so great in the Mushroom Kingdom.

However, there is some good news. The 3DS has reached 3.61 million sales worldwide, but at the same time the Wii is down to 15 million global sales, a 25 percent drop from its 2009 total of 20 million. Looks like the timing is perfect for the new console.

The latest elderly-friendly phone sports the usual hugely oversized buttons and pretty much looks like a toy. The Bluechip BC5i Big Button mobile phone is designed to be appealing to those who shy away from the latest streamlined gadgets.

As you might expect, the phone comes with enhanced loudness, an SOS button and speak aloud numericals, which confirm each and every keypress using audio. There’s also an LED flashlight on the top. Only £29.95. It won’t help them when they misplace the phone however.

DROID Charge Launching April 28, DROID Bionic Originally Scheduled for May 12?

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2011

The DROID Charge should be available next Thursday, according to a device lineup sheet from Costco. In fact next Thursday should be huge with the launch of the Incredible 2, the Charge and then maybe even the Xperia PLAY. That is going to be quite a launch day.

Much like the Bionic Man decades before it, the DROID Bionic was rumored to be canceled, but just like Steve Austin it has apparently risen from the ashes and is evident on the device lineup sheet with a May 12 date. Cue up the Six Million Dollar Man sound effects. Looks like they have plenty of time to sort out whatever it was that was causing problems with the device.
