Destroyed Apple Products

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on November 19th, 2010

There’s something beautiful about a destroyed Apple product. Michael Tompert and photographer Paul Fairchild must think so too since they thought it would be a good idea to destroy a range of Apple products, and they photograph them.

Some of the products used include and iPad and iPhone. I guess it really compliments the product if it is beautiful both intact and destroyed. You can see the rest of the photos of the destroyed Apple products over at Fubiz.

It can be placed on a desktop or mounted onto a wall.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet up for pre-order for $599

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on November 15th, 2010

ViewSonic’s ViewPad 7 tablet is on sale at Amazon for $599. That’s over a hundred dollars more than it was supposed to cost. This will no doubt hurt the devices sales, despite the 600MHz ARM CPU and front and rear-facing cameras on board.

Since Samsung’s Galaxy Tab doesn’t have phone functionality in the states, there is a market for a seven-inch Froyo tablet that can do voice calls, but that price is a deal-breaker. What do you think?

OpeniBoot lets you run Android on your iPad

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on November 14th, 2010

This is similar to the Android on an iPhone hack that allowed the first-generation iPhone and iPhone 3G to get Android 2.2 Froyo loaded. Developers are now working together to get Android on the iPad tablet, allowing the device to dual-boot into either the normal iOS environment or to the Android OS.

This is great news for those iPad owners who love to use Android. You could run Flash content while in Android mode. It’s called the OpeniBoot project and developers are targeting the iBoot bootloader on iOS devices, so potentially other operating systems can also get dual-boot privileges, like Linux.

Windows Phone 7 bug prevents secure Wi-Fi on Venue Pro, HD7

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on November 9th, 2010

A flaw that may be linked to Windows Phone 7 itself may be preventing devices from connecting to secure Wi-Fi points. That’s what new owners have discovered since launch. Those trying to reach a locked network are told they “couldn’t reach the Wi-Fi network” even when using a valid password.

And it looks like the issue isn’t just confined to one device. It has affected at least the Dell Venue Pro and HTC HD7, according to BGR. It hasn’t affected unprotected networks and hasn’t had any significant attention during the European and Australian launches, so it could involve US-specific firmware.

Apple amends iPod Water Damage Policy

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on November 9th, 2010

Apple has just updated its internal documentation regarding its water damage policy for iPods according to a screenshot that Boy Genius Report got a hold of.

A source told BGR that Apple has included a number of Liquid Contact Indicators (LCI) into its iPod line that tell Apple whether the device has come into contact with a liquid. In the past the mere indication by a LCI alone was enough for Apple to suspect liquid damage. Now with the new guide lines Apple is requesting its employee’s carry do further checks to confirm the LCI indicator.

Mobile Tail iPhone stand

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on November 9th, 2010

Some people treat their iPhone better than a pet, so why shouldn’t it have a tail? The Mobile Tail is a silicone tail attached to a suction cup that can be attached to the back of the iPhone or any other mobile device. Once stuck to the mobile phone it will hold the device in an upright position so you can watch videos on it.

The tail doesn’t wag, otherwise your device would fall flat. It comes in several different colors. At least it would, but it’s just a concept. Still it is cute if you like puppies and the like.
