White Nexus S coming soon to Vodafone

That White Nexus S that we told you about last month, which showed up in European retailer’s listings, just got confirmed for Vodafone.

It’s a white Nexus S and it is headed for Vodafone. That’s all we’ve got since details are scarce aside from that. Vodafone simply says that the phone is “coming soon,” and that it will be the only carrier to offer the phone in white, at least in the UK. So which of you Brits are getting one?

Crazy gadget forces your kids to smile

This seems more like something Batman’s Joker would use on unsuspecting Gotham residents, but it was actually created by a Japanese inventor. It’s called the Electro Smile. The device hooks onto your child’s face, then constantly sends electricity to your child’s cheeks, triggering the muscles to make them smile.

Creepy huh? It has an adjustable current, so even the most stubborn kid can be made to smile. This is definitely the work of a Batman villain. Why the long face son? Zap! he he he ha ha ha.

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia play commercial

A TV commercial for the Xperia Play from Sony Ericsson has surfaced online. It shows the Android mascot getting some stitched on thumbs so he can game with the PSP-style controls. It’s a bit creepy. This Playstation phone is expected to debut at Mobile World Congress later this month if you have thumbs with which to check it out.

Unofficial specs include a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, a backside touchpad and the PlayStation buttons and the ability to play PlayStation Suite games made for Android. Other specs may include a five-megapixel camera with 720p recording and a four-inch touchscreen that has technology from Sony’s Bravia HDTVs.

The Cowon D3 Plenue features a 3.7 inch ALOMED display with a resolution of 800 x 400 pixels, comes with Android 2.2, and has a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of storage. It also packs 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, a gravity sensor, a DMB TV tuner, FM Radio, and even comes with several apps built in, like Twitter, an eBook reader and a photo album.

ASUS Eee Slate EP121 now shipping

ASUS’ Eee Slate EP121 was unveiled at CES this year and now it is happily on it’s way to stores and to customers who have already ordered the device. The EP121 is a 12.1″ tablet that runs Windows 7 with a dual-core Intel i5 processor, 2 to 4GB of RAM, and 32 or 64GB of storage.

It also sports WiFi, Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, HDMI output, stylus support and a flash card reader. It even comes with a Bluetooth keyboard and a carrying case to seal the deal. Amazon has it in stock right now.

TDK TH-ST800 Headphones

TDK has revealed there latest flagship headphones in the TDK TH-ST800. These are made from fine leather and pack in large 50 mm diameter driver units with powerful neodymium magnets. They produce an output power of 250mW x 2, a frequency response of 20-20.000Hz, a sensitivity at 1KHz for 111 +/- 3dB and an input impedance of 32 Ohms.

Other features include volume and mute controls on the right hand ear-cup and an LED music visualizer on the cable. They also have an integrated EQ controller so you can tune your sound directly from your headphone audio cable.

HyperDrive launches new Hard Drive for the iPad

Remember the HyperDrive? It’ an external hard drive that can be connected to your Apple iPad using Apple’s camera connection kit. Well, HyperDrive has now launched a new version, this time with a nicer price. It starts at $99.

You do have to add in your own hard drive. That’s why it doesn’t cost more. The HyperDrive hard drive for the Apple iPad can hold up to 1TB of storage and the built in internal battery is only good for about 40GBs of transfer/read from the HyperDrive after that you’ll need to recharge it or connect it to a 5v power supply.

Logitec launches new 500GB Slim External HDD

Logitec has just the thing if you are looking for a new external hard disk drive. You might want to check out the new Logitec LHD-PBG500U2W. This External HDD measures 75.5mm x 115mm x 13mm and has a noise level of only 18db.

This external hard drive will deliver 500GB of storage and is apparently Sony PlayStation 3 compatible. The Logitec LHD-PBG500U2W will be available in Japan starting next month for 9,000 Yen or about $109.

MSI WindPad 100W Tablet now available

If you want a tablet that runs Windows, the WindPad 100W from MSI might be for you. It will cost you 550 Euros in Europe and it’s now available in the US for $709.95.

The tablet sports a 10.1-inch screen, Windows 7 Starter, Intel Atom Z530 CPU, and 2GB of RAM. It stores data and software to a 32GB SSD and has WiFi, a memory card reader, and a mini HDMI output. It’s a bit expensive, but if you want it it is available now.

AppToyz creates an AR iPhone blaster

AppToyz has unveiled another toy for your iPhone. This one will allows you shoot virtual monsters. Much like various Wii peripherals,this acts as a controller for your Augmented Reality games on your iPhone. Just attach your phone to the gun, run the app and pew pew pew.

The trigger presses a rubber stamp that touches the screen in place of your finger. And since it is all made of cheap plastic, this AR blaster will cost just $31 (£20).

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (PlayStation Phone) preview

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play was given its first detailed hands-on in our part of the world today. The PlayStation phone is fairly fast and runs a 1GHz Snapdragon. Engadget found that it now hits 59FPS in Qualcomm’s NeoCore benchmark and is capable of even tying the 43FPS of the dual-core LG Optimus 2X in NenaMark.

They discovered that the PSP Go-like controls mapped directly to regular Android navigation and could even be assigned to work in an emulator. The device won’t properly play games that need secondary shoulder buttons but the dual optical pads should replicate a game that would need analog sticks.

Canon 300mm f/4 L lens turned into a mug

Remember those lens mugs from awhile back that look like real camera lenses? Those were pretty realistic, but if you want something even more authentic, then how about a mug that was created from a real $1,300 Canon 300mm f/4 L lens?

Obviously the lens isn’t in working condition anymore, but it holds your favorite beverage. The proceeds from this sale will go to Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal of Australia to help victims of the Australia flood. The lens/mug is going for $609 right now and could go higher.

Apple iPad 2 production starts next month, iPhone 5 this May

There is hardly a day that goes by where we don’t have an iPad or iPhone rumor. Here is today’s. Apple’s overseas manufacturing partners will apparently start production of the iPad 2 next month, while they will also be building the fifth-generation iPhone in May.

Take this with the usual grains of salt until we have something more concrete. One thing is for sure, no matter when they start production, it won’t be soon enough for Apple fans.
