They come in several sizes with your choice of three different custom engravings on the back. You can get the Bart Sk8 logo, Homer saying D’Oh! and a Homer Tested insignia. They come in iPod Classic in 160 or 80GB, iPod Nano in 8 or 4GB, iPod Shuffle in 2 or 1GB and the iPod Touch in 32, 16 or 8GB. Each is limited to only 2000 units and are numbered. I’m a little disappointed that there’s no comic book guy.

We thought we’d take a little break from the usual and take a look at some cool art cars that geeks have modded into their own visions of coolness. This new watch from the Diesel Signature collection has a huge dial and features a chronograph as well as four miniature movements. It’s actually pretty nice looking and appears to be rugged at the same time, sporting a black genuine leather strap and stainless steel case, with stainless steel plates and Diesel screws.

The gunmetal sunray dials have a black logo, texture and applied silver indexes as well as a Mohican head insignia. The case size is 45mm wide x 58mm length x 15mm in height. It will cost you a whooping $595 which might make your heart jump a tad, but hey it’s water Resistant up to 3 ATM. Looks like Diesel is not just expensive at the pumps, but for your wrist as well.

Best Buy is getting all set to unleash its digital converter boxes on the shopping masses as America counts down towards the government mandated DTV transition occurring in 2009. It will have in stores on Feb. 17 the new Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs - also known as the NS-DXA1.

The NS-DXA1 is pricing at around $60 at Best Buy, but coupons being made available from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) knock $40 off of that. These boxes change “over-the-air broadcast signals to a readable analog format for TVs that rely solely on over-the-air broadcasts for content as opposed to receiving programming through a cable or satellite subscription.” They measure 8.5- x 6-inches and are eco-friendly.

Looking for something to do in your geek afterlife? How about reliving Spocks death during your own, with this sweet coffin based on the Photon Torpedo from STII: The Wrath of Khan. Currently, the technology doesn’t exist to jettison you from the enterprise and onto the Genesis planet, so this is the next best thing.

It’s from Eternal Image, the makers of all kinds of afterlife geek accessories and it is their final design of the torpedo replica coffin. As you might expect, it comes with Federation insignia on the inside and convenient handles so your poll bearers can carry your dead weight. This morbid and FINAL collectible will be available in 2008. So try not to die before then.

Along with quietly rolling out the Insignia Pilot, Best Buy also took the wraps off of the Insignia Sport “sporting” a similar but scaled down feature set with a scaled down price. Coming with an internal memory capacity of 2GB or 4GB, the Sport is also Bluetooth compatible letting you listen with your wireless Bluetooth headset. It supports playback of MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM and OGG music formats along with slightly choppy (15fps) MPEG4 video and JPEG still images.

The player has 1.7″ color LCD screen and an FM tuner with RDS so you can see the artist and song names from participating stations, and lets you save the RDS data of songs you like for later when you want to get online and download them. Speaking of saving song related information, this player also lets you rates songs that you play from your media with a dedicated ratings button.

Last weekend Best Buy made a quiet release of their latest line of the budget-minded Insignia media players, one of which being the 4GB Insignia Pilot. The Insignia players have always been somewhat in the background, offering decent “Best-Buy brand” players at affordable prices, but this latest release has some competitive features at a very competitive price which should give a lot of more popular brands a run for their money.

The player supports playback of MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM, WMA Pro, OGG, WAV and Audible audio files along with MPEG4 (30 fps) and WMV (30 fps) for video. It will also support viewing JPEG still images. Users can watch video and view images on a nice-sized 2.4″ widescreen LCD and it offers up to 25 hours of audio playback on a single charge.
