Kettquad Pedal-Powered ATV

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 18th, 2010

Your little one deserves a quality ATV right? Why not buy your little rugrats the Kettquad from Kettler? The German company recently unveiled this four wheeler that features pneumatic tires for off-road terrain and even a protected enclosed chain drive. Looks like a ton of fun.

Expect it to hit the US sometime this year, with your kid hitting a tree soon after. It will retail for between $800 and $1000. It’s for kids 5 to 12 years of age, so don’t let your toddler ride this thing.

Forget soap, wash your hands with plasma gas

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2010

Soap has had it’s day and done it’s job admirably, but it may soon be dead. Plasma-gas filled boxes are here for all of your hand washing needs. Several laboratories are working on the technology. Turns out that bathing your hand in room-temperature plasma gas will kill even industrial grade bacteria like MRSA. It’s good for athlete’s foot too.

Hospitals are where they will show up first. Doctors and nurses could kill off bacteria, viruses, and fungi in just four seconds. Forget scrubbing. There are already some prototypes that are portable and wall-mounted, and they can cost as little as $100 to build.

Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 with three year battery life

Posted in Logitech by Conner Flynn on February 10th, 2010

You can expect the keyboard and mouse of Logitech’s Wireless Desktop MK710 to get three years of battery life according to the company. We can only assume they used some sort of black magic, by sacrificing a microsoft keyboard to their gods.

It’s designed to “cradle” your fingertips, which should be comfortable. The sculpted mouse has “hyper-fast” scrolling, and it’s all wireless. Europe will be getting the MK710 later this month, the US in April. It will cost you $100.

HP’s Wall of Touch

Posted in HP by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2010

The future is filled with giant walls that react to your touch, but HP’s “Wall of Touch” does more than that, sensing your intent even before you touch it, thanks to cameras and a magnetic strip that detect where your hands are, activating the items on the screen accordingly. Watching and waiting for you to make your move.

The company is starting to roll out this gigantic grid of screens powered by its Z800 workstation. It will first land in the Continental Airlines terminal at the Houston airport. If it proves popular enough, HP might decide to make it a mainstream product by next year. If that happens the pricing would be between $2,000 and $100,000 depending on the capabilities. Video below.

Kids CyberNet Station is an expensive AIO computer

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on January 19th, 2010

I have on more than one occasion thought about going to an AIO computer that is quieter than my normal desktop. My machine has so much gear crammed inside that the drone of the fans can drive you crazy some days. If you are looking for an AIO to give to a kid as their first computer, a company called Kid Computers has one.

The catch is that the machine sells for nearly $2,000, which many parents will consider a significant stretch for a first computer. A $500 to $1000 AIO from another manufacturer with netbook innards would be more appropriate in most cases.

Nanobrick’s Miyoul Media Frames store photos on individual OLED screens

Posted in Digital Photo Frames by Conner Flynn on January 13th, 2010

Forget regular old Digital Picture Frames. Nanobrick has created 11 media frame models that you can customize with your photos. Each of them has several OLED screens that measure either 3.3-inches or 4.1-inches.

Problem is that each model costs around $100,000. It would be cheaper to make one yourself. If you can afford one maybe you can display pictures of money burning and people getting hit in the nads with baseballs, because that’s how you will feel after your purchase.

Posted in Headphones by Shane McGlaun on December 18th, 2009

kidzgearwirelessheadphonesWhen my kids were young, we had a car with a DVD player built-in. The car had originally came with wireless headphones so the adults could listen to music while the kids watched a movie. samsunggonyt-sgThe economy has been very hard on traditional print publications like magazines and newspapers.
