Motorola Titanium coming to Sprint July 24th

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on July 18th, 2011

The Motorola Titanium was officially announced by Sprint back in May. Of course no pricing or availability dates were known at that time, but as always the info comes in it’s own good time. That time is now. Sprint has announced that the 810G military-spec Eclair smartphone will hit store shelves on July 24th.

The price is $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate. This is a good one for folks who are rather tough on their phones, while others might want to put their money elsewhere and go with something else.

Those numbers make it the fastest-selling OS in history. Many of us will go ahead and spend another $100 on the newest Windows version and complete the cycle all over again. Microsoft is pretty happy about that tonight.

Razor made of meteorite costs $100K

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on June 21st, 2011

As far as I’m concerned the only person who needs a razor made of meteorites that costs $100K is Superman and then only if the meteorites are not from Krypton. Well, they’ve made one anyway. The Zafirro razor is an Iridium Razor available in a limited edition.

99 pieces in all. They cost a hundred thousand Dollars apiece. Why? Because Iridium is extremely rare and expensive. The metal is so dense that they say it can survive a drop into molten lava. I’ll stick with something cheaper.

Nintendo drops DS Lite to $100, Mario games go red

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on May 31st, 2011

Out with the old and in with the new. That’s what Nintendo is thinking with an official price cut on the DS Lite from $129.99 to $99.99. Very nice of them. The DSi’s price is still $149.99 and the DSi XL is $169.99.

Aside from the DS Lite price cut, Nintendo is also playing with colors. Red in particular. They will be re-releasing six classic DS Mario games with red boxes. They hope that the red color makes them easier to spot when customers are shopping for games. These games include New Super Mario Bros., Mario Party DS, Mario & Donkey Kong: Miniland Mayhem, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS and Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. So who is buying a DS Lite now?

Logitech hopes to move a whole lotta units of its Google TV hardware by dropping the price of the Revue to $199 at Amazon. The $100 price drop is likely to help make a path for future hardware based on Android 3.1 and it also makes this the least expensive Google TV hardware yet.

It may also have to do with much lower than expected sales and they are hoping to make sales jump in the next several weeks. The device should be upgradeable to Android 3.1.

Is Apple releasing an HDTV this year?

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on April 13th, 2011

According to a report, Apple could launch an Internet-connected high-definition television set by the end of 2011, expanding into the $100 billion LCD TV market. Analyst Brian White with Ticonderoga Securities said in a note to investors that he picked up “data points” that point toward a “Smart TV” launch by Apple, possibly as soon as by the end of this year.

If Apple does want into this market, (which seems inevitable) will an Apple HDTV take the world by storm like their other products? Maybe. It could be paired with a subscription service to iTunes, allowing users to access content and services at a flat subscription rate so that a cable box and digital video recorder will no longer be needed. That would make a lot of folks happy.
