Back in the summer of 2007, I went to E3 and sat through the Sony E3 presentation where they first talked about LittleBigPlanet. When I first heard about the game, I thought it was a rather goofy idea. Now that more details have surfaced it might be a cool game.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that LittleBigPlanet is now shipping exclusively for the PS3. The game features odd sock animal-like creatures that are controlled by the player. The entire world of the game is made from material (fabric and such). Sony describes it as a stitched together material world.

The casual gaming market is huge and one of the fastest growing of all gaming genres. We have all probably played casual games before when the boss wasn’t around or on a break for those who don’t smoke. One of the most popular casual games came from PopCap and is called Bejeweled.

PopCap has now introduced a new version of Bejeweled called Bejeweled Twist. Rather than simply moving one jewel on the game board at a time like the original the new game lets player move a 2×2 section of the screen to make matches of three or more blocks.

Almost everyone is trying to be more environmentally responsible today. One way that geeks can do their part is by recycling their old used electronic gear rather than tossing it into the trash can when you have had your way with it. The catch is that many recycling programs don’t offer any scratch in exchange for your old gear.

Recycling electronics for many programs isn’t something done merely to help the environment. The gadgets are recycled and with enough bulk, recyclers can get as much gold and other precious metals from the electronics as you get from a small gold mine. RadioShack has announced a new electronic recycling program that takes back certain electronic items like cell phones, MP3 players, laptops and more and gives people some loot on a gift card for their trouble.

When your HAL 9000 tries to kill you on board your space ship, things are grim. But until your computer goes rogue, you would probably be dining at a table like this one. When you and your crew mates are finished, it transforms into an awesome little pod that matches your ship.

It’s called the Kure from Turkish designer Fatih Can Sarıöz. It features a nice column of light in the center that glows blue. It’s a concept that you may well see become a reality in homes of the future. It’s modern and a real space saving design. Just imagine reading the morning e-paper while you eat your robot made food. “Honey can you put the table and chairs away? I’m late for work.”

The Post-it note is pretty handy. It’s something that everyone has used at one point or another. Just imagine how many trees it takes to keep us in Post-it notes every year. Whatever the number is, the E-note concept from Sequoia Studio can keep those trees firmly in the ground. It uses tactile and flexible electronic paper technology, and can be stuck and unstuck easily thanks to a “Gecko” glue.

Whether it picks up hair and dirt and becomes useless, we aren’t sure. The E-note is solar powered, giving it enough juice to take care of your message and reminders across before it runs out. It even has a visual alarm, an organizer and the ability to change between 8 different colors. We want this on our desks ASAP.

This Master Chief costume is pretty freakin’ realistic. You have to have it, but spending $629 on a costume that you are only going to wear on Halloween night is insane. That’s why I recommend wearing it to the grocery store, the DMV, maybe to the movies. You’re gonna wanna get a lot of use out of it. Heck, maybe do some kids parties. Everybody loves Master Chief. It’s a fully licensed costume. You get a quilted jumpsuit/EVA armor, gauntlets, boot tops and a two-piece helmet. This thing has to be great for picking up gamer babes.

Here’s something for those who like to paint their faces while playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero, after a healthy argument over the merits of belonging to the KISS army. Even if you aren’t a KISS fan, this is a badass Rock Band and Guitar Hero compatible replica of Gene Simmons’ signature bass. It also features a bi-directional strum bar, ultra-responsive fret buttons, an analog whammy bar for $80. It will be released on Halloween. Demon boots and outlandishly long tongue clip-on not included.

Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips has built imself an awesome looking Guitar Hero guitar mod that marries a Korg Kaoss pad, working GH controller and a white Gibson double-neck guitar. He’s even using this beast to film an 8-second spot for NBC. Okay, so why did he create it? Because of those damn kids. “there’s a lot of kids out there that think this is actually how you play guitar now — that you just press a series of four or five buttons and and sort of different sort of sequences and it makes every sound that the guitar can make,”

You can check out a video here. The Kaoss pad is used to control a synth tone that can be modulated by the five colored neck buttons. No word on whether he’s using it on tour or not, but it will be playing the three-note NBC chime in a promo spot. Pretty cool.

Toys ‘R’ Us long known as the place where a kid can be a kid, will now be offering iPods and Eee PCs. They aren’t new to electronics, but they’ve never been big on gadgetry in general, except for their Zune sales that began last year.

Now they will be offering iPods in an “iPod boutique,” where you can purchase shuffles, nanos, touches and accessories all in the hopes that they meet their bottom line. I can see it now. An “iPod boutique,” with no employee in sight. The Eee PC will be offered in black and white, with 7-inch Linux and XP versions available for $269 and $299.

It used to be that all you could do with your bike spokes was insert a baseball card or sport a generic reflector. My favorite was always the aluminum can on the back tire. But I digress. Now it’s all about LEDs. This moving endorsement of Obama comes from a Flickr user that used six SpokePOV kits to turn his bike wheel into an awesome, illuminated Obama sign. Now he can campaign for his candidate just by riding his bike. If you want to make your own, all of the .dat files necessary to reproduce the effect are available on Aneel’s Flickr site. You can customize it to endorse whichever candidate you want. Pretty neat.

Nowadays you probably don’t have much to do with your extra dollars, so here’s a good option. Make origami spaceships, like those from Star Trek and Star Wars, made entirely from folded dollar bills. The Millenium Falcon is a bit more expensive as it takes three dollar bills to get all that detail. It’s the work of Hawaii resident Won Park, whose next project is apparently Firefly’s Serenity. Awesome stuff.

You might expect that the sound wouldn’t be too good with such little speakers, but people who have heard them are saying that they are “surprisingly good.” Each vinyl speaker will be sold in 500 to 1000 limited quantities beginning on November 30th. Thankfully, they won’t break the bank at only $30 apiece

As you might have heard, SanDisk is offering players with a feature that’s a little unusual, a microSD card slot. The slot is a requirement to work with the new music format introduced last month called slotMusic.

The slotMusic format is basically just digital tracks written on a microSD card. SanDisk’s new Sansa player is made especially for the format and is pretty bare bones with no internal memory, no LCD, and no rechargeable battery. It operates on a single AAA battery. It plays slotmusic cards. Period. The device retails for $19.99. You can also get a customized player with an artist skin and a slotMusic card for $34.99. The skins on the player can be swapped if you like. Both models will be available in 2009. But how did we like it? Click through to find out.

When you think Nokia, you think cellphones. But now the cell phone maker is getting into the bench biz. Nokia is setting up musical benches throughout the United Kingdom, in ‘secret locations’, in order to promote their Comes With Music audio service. Each bench will feature three integrated handsets with headphones so passers-by can sample music.

Apparently the track lists will mirror the region where the bench is deployed, so you would get the Beatles in Liverpool and say Black Sabbath in Birmingham. You probably already want to steal the bench since it’s neat and all. You can’t. Each will be under close supervision by a security guard and a “performer”.

Faux rockers have waited long and hard for this day. At long last, Activision’s next installment of the Guitar Hero franchise is officially available. With Activision’s formal announcement, you’ll be able to pick one up and once again rock out. There’s a few different bundles that range from the game alone which will cost $49.99 to $59.99, the game and guitar together will be $89.99 to $99.99 and the band kit will run you $179.99 to $189.99. Since most of you already rock a plastic Axe, it will be a choice between the first and the last.
