WWAN
Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) is a form of wireless network that differs from a WLAN because it utilizes cellular network technologies like GPRS / CDMA2000 / GSM / CDPD / Mobitex/HSDPA. WWANs are thought by many to be more secure because they incorporate sophisticated encryption and authentication methods.
WWAN technologies are offered on a regional, national, and global basis by wireless service provider such as: AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS or Verizon for a monthly usage fee.
