MMORPG (Massively Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game) is a term used to define games in which a large group of people can play online at the same time and interact with each other.

By definition, these games are RPG (Role Playing Games) in which a player assumes the persona of hero and completes a series of quests and either cooperates or competes with other players for rewards and experience which they use to advance their skills and abilities in order to complete increasingly difficult tasks.

Some of examples include World of Warcraft, Eve Online and the EverQuest series.

The games typically take place in a fantasy setting with either midevil sword and sorcery or futuristic lasers and spaceships.
