Apple

Apple Computer, Inc. (nasdag: AAPL) is a technology company famous for making computers and most recently for making the iPod personal digital media player.

Apple was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The first major success for Apple was its Apple II computer. Apple introduced the Macintosh in 1984. Apple suffered as IBM compatible computers became very inexpensive in the 1990’s. Apple saw its fortunes rise again after the introduction of the iPod in 2001.

Steve Jobs is the very public face of Apple. He left the company for a brief stint with NeXT but returned later to “save” the company. Stephan “Woz” Wozniak is also famous for almost single-handedly created the original Apple computer’s hardware and software. The story of Apple and its founders have become almost folklore in the United States and server as an inspiration to young entrepreneurs everywhere. The founding of Apple in a suburban garage has become the stuff of legend. In fact two movies have been made about Apple and Microsoft, “Pirates of Silicon Valley” and “Triumph of the Nerds.”
