Xbox 360 line to be reduced to Arcade and Elite? Some leaked packaging images suggest that only two models of the Xbox 360 will be available in the future. Depicted in the above photo are current and planned boxes for the 360 Arcade; the latter box lists only one other 360, the 120GB Elite.

The Pro, in production since 2005, is MIA. It’s typically the best-selling Xbox system. The photo backs up earlier reports that Microsoft is phasing out the Pro. Game bundles may help clear out earlier stock, after which the Elite’s price is expected fall to that of the Pro in September.

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Microsoft denies Blu-ray player rumors for the Xbox 360This one is interesting, even though we’ve heard it before. Just as Toshiba is announcing that it will be delivering a Blu-ray drive of it’s own, Microsoft could follow suit. At least that’s the word on the street.

The big M might be readying a Blu-ray drive add-on for the popular Xbox 360 gaming console. The company did offer an external HD DVD drive before, built by Toshiba. The new drive is seen as more feasible, both because of Toshiba’s support and cost reductions, which could make a USB Blu-ray reader affordable.

He let word slip during his speech at The Executives Club of Chicago today that the Xbox 360 motion control interface will be coming in 2010. Now that could mean all the way in December of 2010 for all we know, but at least it’s not 2011.

Gears of War Xbox case mod

Gears of War Xbox case modGears of War fans are sure to love this Xbox case mod. Maybe. It’s the work of one Tallerkamino, who designed and modded the Xbox case in honor of the game. How he did it is not clear.(Looks like he used mousepads and attached them to the console).

Then he obviously glued action figures onto the base. It’s a cool mod I guess, but I prefer the console to be entirely covered. It’s more of a diorama. But if you love Gears of War, I’m sure it will make you smile and brighten you day.

Xbox Live Gold subscription at Amazon for $29.97Here’s some more Microsoft news, in a day filled with Microsoft news. How does full Xbox Live games on demand sound? Awesome? I know. You, and me, can now download Mass Effect, Bioshock and others. And you can do so like a big boy, using a real credit card, not Xbox Live points. They will be coming in August.

It would be great if you could get every game, but sadly you can’t. It’s a mix of third-party stuff like Sonic, call of Duty 2, Crackdown, Bioshock Mass Effect and others. Whether games will be downloadable the day they’re released to retail is unclear. Also don’t expect to use your credit card direct just yet: “We’re not getting rid of the point system.”
