Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on May 17th, 2009

Microsoft working on Digital Entertainment handheldHere’s a rumor that we’d all like to see come true. A handheld portable that combines the Xbox 360 with the Zune. The project is codenamed “xYz,” and is said to feature a WVGA touchscreen. It will let you play music and movies on the device as well as the Xbox 360.

Team Xbox claims to have sources inside Microsoft who are working on just such a device. We’re talking about a connected handheld gaming system with sweet multimedia features. Obviously we want. But will it ever come to life?

Xbox 360 getting full-body motion control?Craving news about Microsoft’s full body motion control trick? The Wall Street Journal can help. They’ve confirmed that Microsoft is in fact “developing a new videocamera for its Xbox 360 videogame console that will allow players to control games with the movement of their bodies,”.

Unlike Nintendo’s Wii, the Microsoft camera won’t require gamers to “hold any hardware in their hands to control in-game action,”. We may just see it debut at E3.

Xbox 360 motion-sensing tech really ZCam’s system?

Xbox 360 motion-sensing tech really ZCam's system? The other day we told you about the rumors about Microsoft’s Wii-killing, motion-sensing Xbox 360 add-on set to debut at E3. Well, now Ars Technica thinks they’ve played with it a full year ago. Ars thinks that the new Xbox 360 motion sensing system is based on the ZCam 3D camera, made by a company that was later purchased by Microsoft.

If true, it sounds good. Ars was impressed with the tech when they got a hands-on with it back in January of 2008. And Microsoft has had a long time to work with it, so chances are it’s even better now. It makes sense to us, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s what when E3 arrives next month.

Xbox 360 getting full-body motion control?

Xbox 360 getting full-body motion control? There’s a reason that Nintendo’s Wii has dominated this generation of consoles. Here’s a hint. It’s the Wii’s motion-sensing capabilities. Microsoft isn’t blind to this fact. And according to the latest rumor, they’re hard at work on a new system that will let you control games not just with a Wiimote, but with your entire body.

This add-on for the Xbox 360 includes a sensor bar that needs no controllers at all. Think about that for a second. You would be free to punch, kick, put some dude in a headlock etc. Sounds like a dream to us, and we have no idea how it would work, but who knows, maybe we will hear about it at E3 in June.

At last, a fishing pole controller for the Xbox 360

At last, a fishing pole controller for the Xbox 360I don’t know how many times I’ve been playing a fishing game on the Xbox 360, only to be disappointed that my fish got away due to a crappy fishing pole. Well, no more. Never again will I lose a fish and throw my plastic rod into the TV.

Thanks to “The Strike,” coming this fall, I’ll get “realistic lake bottom topography, life-like fish behaviors” and more. Time to get in some practice with paperclip fish and a magnet on my line. And if you don’t like fishing games, this thing looks quality enough to beat people with.

Xbox 360 turned into an arcade stick

Xbox 360 turned into an arcade stickWhen life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When life deals the dreaded RRoD to your Xbox, make an arcvade stick out of that sucker. That’s just what one guy did. When his Xbox 360 went all RRoD, he gutted it and like a gaming phoenix rising from the ashes, transformed it into a functioning arcade stick.

He’s so proud, he’s holding up his name in the pic and proclaiming that he Rox all Wile E. Coyote style. Yes you do Seppun. You rox. You now have the coolest arcade stick on your block.

Wiimote for Xbox 360 coming this fall, PS3 version next yearInitially unveiled back in September of last year, the “Gametrak Freedom” motion controller for Xbox 360 and the PS3 returns after a makeover. It’s currently on display at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

It should be available this fall for the Xbox 360, the PS3 version will likely follow next year. The Freedom obviously closely resembles the Nintendo Wii remote. In fact, it just looks like a bad knockoff. It will ship with a USB-port base station connected to two wands that sit on either side of your TV. Unlike the Wii remote, the Freedom won’t require line-of-sight. Instead it will use “ultrasonic 3D positioning” to relay the remote’s position via pulses.

Oh The Humanity: Hello Kitty Xbox 360

Oh The Humanity: Hello Kitty Xbox 360Modding your Xbox 360 with a little paint is nothing new. The results are often unique and every bit as good as fancy high priced art as far as I’m concerned. Whether you choose Sonic the Hedgehog or a cool Domo-kun paint job, it’s all good.

However, I nearly lost my damn lunch when I saw this Hello Kitty Xbox 360. For the love of all that is holy, why? Just why? Only DeviantART user Ricepuppet knows for sure as they decorated this Xbox 360 in shades of pink as the gaming community collectively vomits a little in their mouths.

Sonic the Hedgehog on the XBox 360

Sonic the Hedgehog on the XBox 360Case mods don’t always have to involve LEDS and intense design work. Sometimes it’s cool just to keep it simple and paint a pretty picture on it. Here, someone took Sonic the Hedgehog and painted him right onto this XBox 360.

This is the kind of limited edition that Microsoft needs to be putting out there. This kind of paint job just gives your console a life of it’s own. I can almost see this Xbox sliding down rails and collecting rings when the owner isn’t home. That explains why the console is so hot when no one is playing it.
