Sony to offer wearable walkman

Posted in Walkman by Conner Flynn on January 7th, 2009

Sony to offer wearable walkmanSony is all set to offer a completely different type of Walkman. This time it’s aimed at the budget conscious consumer who wants something to match their active lifestyle. The upcoming W-series Walkman has some nice aesthetics for such users. It sports 2GB of storage, and a low price point ($50-75).

The design looks a little too cutesy with the heart shape and all. It’s basically a sleek wrap around earphone that has magnetic connectors on each end to keep it bound together when not in use. That’s what forms the shape. What you see is the entire player. The earphones are 13.5mm EX quality, and currently supported codecs include MP3, AAC, WMA (w/ DRM) and PCM.

Sony’s NW-E013 Walkman

Sony’s new NW-E013 Walkman is obviously geared toward the ladies and they are sure to be a hit. The design is certainly pretty enough and I imagine that women will find them quite appealing as far as mp3 players go. In fact, the more you look at them, they kind of look like high tech lipstick cases. They have 1-gigabyte of memory and come in sky blue, hot pink, and other girlly colors.

Sony even went so far as to create a set of little carrying cases with straps for these devices. It costs 10,980 yen or $101.52 starting December 19th. Considering what some women pay for shoes alone, I’d say that’s a bargain. It should also be noted that this would be a great Christmas gift that she should absolutely love.

The W910i is a HSDPA Walkman phone that’s being targeted for gameheads, webheads music aficionados that like to get interactive with their hardware. The two main new features are SensMe, which allows you to pick tracks by tempo or rhythm instead of by artist or album, letting you get your groove on and remain in genre; and something called the “Shake control” which lets you randomize your tracks or skip to the next song by shaking the device all about. Noise Canceling Sony Walkman

The noise canceling feature is what is being boasted by Sony’s new NW-700 series Walkman‘s, but there is more in this new offering than just that.

First things first, the new MP3 player Walkman has a tiny specialized microphone in the ear bud that it uses to pick up external noise and apply noise canceling sound. This is great when in a plane, car or in a busy place so you can better hear just want you want to hear. Noise canceling headphones are great, and ear bud styles make it even better.

The NW-700 Walkman Noise Canceling headphones come in an array of colors including black, brown, a couple shades of blue and pink, and you can get it with capacities of either 1G or 2G.

One really neat feature on the new Walkman’s aside from the noise canceling feature is the Electroluminescence display. This …
