Sony’s new NW-E013 Walkman is obviously geared toward the ladies and they are sure to be a hit. The design is certainly pretty enough and I imagine that women will find them quite appealing as far as mp3 players go. In fact, the more you look at them, they kind of look like high tech lipstick cases. They have 1-gigabyte of memory and come in sky blue, hot pink, and other girlly colors.

Sony even went so far as to create a set of little carrying cases with straps for these devices. It costs 10,980 yen or $101.52 starting December 19th. Considering what some women pay for shoes alone, I’d say that’s a bargain. It should also be noted that this would be a great Christmas gift that she should absolutely love.

Sony has recently announced the release of a new Walkman for portable media loving folks in Japan which takes advantage of the area’s 1seg live television broadcast. The Walkman NW-A910 can not only pick up the 1seg signal but it can record video content directly to the player and you can schedule as many as 10 programs up to a month in advance for a total of 100 hours of recorded TV. Now that’s cool.

The new Walkman also sports an FM tuner, has the ability to record and encode your CD’s all inside the player and comes with some noise canceling headphones. All this in three different models with capacities of 4GB, 8GB or 16GB. It’s just hard not to like this little PMP.

Along with yesterday’s release of the new video Walkman’s from Sony, they also released a smaller, non-video line of Walkmans which were somewhat overshadowed in the announcement. Although the new NWZ-B100 series do not have video, they do have a 3-line color LCD display to show functions and tracks playing.

The small Walkman supports playing MP3 and WMA audio files and is compatible with Microsoft’s PlayForSure music service. It also has a FM tuner with the ability to set as many as 30 preset stations, and it can record the radio broadcast directly to the player as MP3’s. It also has a microphone built-in should you want to record your own, personally sung songs to the player for future easy-listening.

Today’s the day Sony decided to unveil video Walkmans to the US for the first time with the NWZ-A810 and NWZ-S610 series Walkman media players. Both players support an open platform for downloading and saving music and video content to coincide with Sony phasing out its CONNECT music service.

The players come in capacities of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB and in colors of black, pink, red and silver. The higher end NWZ-A810 model has a 2-inch QVGA (320 by 240) LCD, comes packaged with some high-end noise isolation earbuds and has a battery life that supports video playback of up to 8 continuous hours. The NWZ-A810 is targeting a little bit younger crowd with a 1.8-inch LCD and features an FM tuner and a little more battery life for continuous video of 9.5 hours. Both models promise to provide an impressive 33 hours of continuous music playback.

Sony has announced the Walkman NWD-B100 series of MP3 players that feature a direct USB connection to your computer to transfer music and files without the need for any cables. The stick-style MP3 player comes in sized of 1GB and 2GB adn has software that can scan through your directories looking for music files to grab, and monitors folders for new files added in.
