Freedom Stick laughs at firewalls, Chinese officials

Freedom Stick laughs at firewalls, Chinese officialsThe Freedom Stick is some sort of propaganda device designed to help those who are paranoid within the great wall of China while the olympics are going on. It’s a USB dongle that comes pre-loaded with software that can secure the communications of almost any computer that it’s connected to.

The developer, Chaos Computer Club of Germany, says that it relies on The Onion Router network to cloak your connections, routing traffic using an anonymous computer so that your Internet usage can not be tracked by say, the Chinese government. It will retail for $30 and is available for the duration of the summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Sounds like a joke. But they are sure to get many sales as the paranoia level in that city will be sky high, both from the government and the people.

Duracell powers your USB gadgets
Chances are you’ve been out with your phone and it runs out of juice. It’s annoying. We put men on the moon for God’s sake.(That was a long time ago) Well, Duracell wants to make sure you always have plenty of power in your USB gadgets. If your device uses mini USB to charge, Duracell’s new PowerSource Mini has you covered.

You can get it in two different versions. One is designed to power your iPod and the other is for Blackberry. Both have a mini USB connector. The PowerSource Mini stores power with an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. Apparently it has a second USB port that lets you charge another device at the same time. It ships with an AC adapter and DC charger that each have a USB port, and the PowerSource Mini. Never be powerless again.

USB Pole Dancer keeps dollars in your pocket
You know how it is, you can’t always get to the strip clubs as often as you’d like. So you wish and wish, and yet somehow a pole dancer has never appeared in your workspace to shake her stuff at you. Until now.

Just plug this baby into your USB port and watch her twirl as you type faster and faster. She’s awesome because she’ll shake her money maker and never ask for a single dollar bill in her G-String. Lonely nerds everywhere will be abusing their keyboards and buying replacements in no time. It’s almost too much fun for $29.25. The only way it gets better is if she stopped to windex the pole so another girl could begin.

Philips active crystals USB Happy Laura robot
Finally, more robot USB drives are hitting the market. Now we are getting more then we can handle. Some are even downright shiny like this one. Philips’ Active Crystal collection has been around for awhile. This time around it’s got Swarovski crystals in the 2008 range. The 2GB Robot Naughty Raymond, in black, is already available, and to give him some companionship, here comes the USB Happy Laura.

It’s set in white with sparkling crystals for the body and features for the face. The cute girlly bot even has ruby lips! Happy Laura has a 2GB capacity and will be available in Europe for $238. This is probably more glitz and glamor then you really want on a USB drive, but if you happen to be a rich robot loving gal, I guess it’s perfect.

Hacked USB Flash Drive
The Hacked USB flash drive holds 2GB of storage space and makes it look like you or somebody else ripped your USB cable in half. Great for practical jokers and those who like accessories that look like they belong in the trash. Imagine all the reactions you’ll get from strangers. More then likely some well meaning but not too smart person will approach you and let you know that your “little doohickey is broken”.

But would any guy, or woman for that matter want to be seen in public with this bug? If it helps, they’re supposed to represent good luck.

Cell Ranger USB cell phone booster

Cell Ranger USB cell phone booster
The Cell Ranger has nothing to do with the Lone Ranger in a jail cell, though if that happened he would in fact be that cell’s ranger. It’s a cell phone booster, like this one. It plugs into your computer through the USB port and then, with an on-board microprocessor filtering out unnecessary signals, it amplifies the signals that your cell phone actually needs.

The end result is a few extra bars of reception. If you need better reception, this should be near the top on your list of cool stuff to buy.

Bling Paranoia: GoldKey USB securty token
If you’re paranoid, but prefer to be paranoid in a luxurious way, the GoldKey USB Security Token should be your next purchase. It will help prevent sensitive data from entering the wrong hands and at the same time provide some you with some nice bling.

The GoldKey will let you encrypt any document, making it inaccessible to others unless your key is inserted again to unlock it. It’s built tough too, inside and out, and could probably take a beating from the Hulk, who like you, loves shiny things. The price is $132.

Aroma USB protects you from your own BO

Aroma USB protects you from your own BO
Aromatherapy isn’t a new concept. USB-powered diffusers have been around for awhile. But the Aroma USB makes no bones about the fact that it knows something funky is going on in your immediate area, and like a glade plug in, it wants to help.

Maybe it’s that moldy half-eaten bag of cheetos you call a mousepad. More likely it’s your own BO, mixed with a subtle hint of Hot Pockets. The device has a scented fragrance strip that doles out pleasant smelling air when the air around you gets so bad that it threatens to attract the affections of Pepe LePew. A refill will last up to about a week. The noses around you will thank you.

USB Smart Dog hub & radio

USB Smart Dog hub & radio
It makes sense to have man’s best friend on your desktop, serving your USB port and radio needs. Even if your robo-dog has a head that looks like it met a Mac truck head on. One rather creepy design aspect is that the head can be detached, giving you an instant portable radio with auto-scan from 88MHz to 108MHz.

Put it back on the body, and like a zombie reborn, it will turn it into a crappy computer speaker. It sports two USB 2.0 ports on each side.(If it spawns robo offspring, these are what they will suckle, getting precious mothers milk of USB juice.) $19.15 will get you this bizarre desk pet.

Talking Optimus Prime USB hub

Talking Optimus Prime USB hub
Transformers fans will love this four port USB hub in the shape of Optimus Prime’s head. It’s like you decapitated the lead transformer and have a talking trophy on your desk. Like the All Spark version, it spews classic phrases like “Autobots, transform and roll out!”, “This is Optimus Prime – do you read me?” and “It’s time to stomp some Decepticons!” when you connect a USB gadget.

It has an on/off switch for the voice, so when you get sick of it, you won’t have to pull your hair out. It will cost you $34.99. Now you have something to keep you company until the sequel comes out.
