CES 2008

Posted in CES 2008,UMPC by Conner Flynn on January 8th, 2008

We first told you about the WIBRAIN B1 UMPC in November. At that time, we didn’t know if we were going to see it again. Sure enough it showed up at CES 2008.

The WiBrain B1 is a neat device but the elongated shape might make some feel that it’s a little awkward. It sports a VIA C7M 1.2GHz CPU with 60GB HDD. The popup camera is a nice touch though, and the keyboard with tactile feedback split between the two sides is more ergonomic. Like all of the other UMPCs it runs on XP too.

It also has a nice little touchpad for those not too precise with the touchscreen. The screen is on the small side at 4.8 inches. If you want to get your hands on one, it won’t be as difficult as we first thought. You can get one …

Asus Eee PC 701 small notebook computerThe Palm Foleo looks like it will be a pretty interesting device despite it’s questionable necessity and a $600 price tag. When we first read about the Asus Eee PC we thought it might be pretty cool as well, but we’re confident about the Eee in the ‘coolness’ arena now with an expected $199 price tag.

The Asus Eee UMPC looks like its no slouch in the world of 7″ notebooks, either. It’s designed particularly for portability combined with browsing the web with a 7″ screen, full keyboard, webcam and microphone. It has a weight of just 1.9 pounds and promises 512MB of RAM with a flash drive for storage in sizes from 4GB to 16GB. Wireless comes standard and built-in, and rumors of 3G abound as well. It would be nice to see a few more specs or something …

Raon Everun UMPC

Posted in UMPC by Nino Marchetti on June 1st, 2007

Raon Everun UMPC is light, portable and verticalDynamism.com is known in many gadget geek circles for importing cool tech from other parts of the world. Here we have proof of this in the form of the cool-looking Raon Everun (under $900).

The Raon Everun is a UMPC with some attitude. In non-traditional UMPC form it has a different look and feel to it, positioning the keys off to the sides. This might take getting used to for some but the up to 12 hours of battery life with the enhanced battery option will give you plenty of time to figure out this device’s features.

And speaking of features there are plenty indeed. You get an AMD LX900 600mhz processor, 6GB of SSD memory (optionally you can have a 60GB HDD instead, or both), up to 1GB of RAM, a 4.8-inch wide touchscreen display, Windows XP Home, built-in stereo …
